I was wondering how much I would need to make (before taxes) to live comfortably.
My info and wants are:
-Single male
-Want to live in suburbs
-I can't cook but I am not a picky eater
-Want one regular car
-Definitely need internet, not cable though
-Have enough left to over after necessities and hobbies to put in a 401K/savings
Please only reply if you have some idea what you are talking about.
EDIT: I am looking for a place in Ohio (but I hear the south is really affordable)

2 AntwortenDepends on what area of Ohio, really. But I'd say at least 50k a year. However, 60k+ is probably best for everything. Being single (unmarried) will help with taxes, though. The south is cheaper (and in my opinion nicer than Ohio) but you'd also (presumably) think about the future so school systems would come into play. I currently live in a nice area in Florida and it is the best county for school. It's also relatively affordable and is expanding fast as all hell.

2 AntwortenBoth my parents households are about 20k or less. I'd say they're both fine off

1 AntwortenDepends on the prices for homes in ohio and i would say if you wanted to live comfortable 50-60k a year.

1 AntwortenThe south is always affordable
because nobody wants to live there

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Man, the real world seems scary...

about 50 grand a year. 40 if you want to skimp a little.

1 AntwortenThe most important thing you should be focusing on is the career you are aiming for. Living arrangements come secondary to that.

1 AntwortenWhat is your highest level of education?

1 Antworten40k to 60k. Depends where you live. I get by just fine on 50k

1 AntwortenAt the most 3$

2 AntwortenI hear lemonade stands do pretty well. You might have some competition, though.
But I know a guy. He can make those rival businesses "disappear", if you catch my drift.
1 AntwortenI asked my father the same thing a while back, he said 60k

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Steve of Steves: 7/17/2016 4:35:51 AMAs of 2014, Ohio's median income was $48,081. I'd say $50-60k/year if you want to live pretty comfortably there.

1 AntwortenCooking is pretty damn easy, man. You'll save a lot of money and eat a lot healthier if you cook your own meals from scratch. Easily thousands of dollars a year.

1 AntwortenChange to a strict instant noodle and Kraft Dinner diet and you will be rolling in the dough.

6 AntwortenBruh why save for what's ahead? Why not enjoy life when you have it because you might get hit by a bus tomorrow?

6 AntwortenIn cali, new york, hawaii and most major cities. 3k a week. Anywhere else: a potato
-
1 AntwortenIt all depends on the city you want to live in. 60k a year will go a lot farther in Birmingham Alabama than it will in San Francisco.

1 AntwortenIf only life were so simple.

3 AntwortenBetween 35 and 50k as a minimum. This is assuming you live in North America. Cost of living does fluctuate, of course, and some regions are simply more expensive than others to own property.

1 AntwortenIf you can buy a bed, you are good.
-
7 AntwortenAs a single dude you can do fine at 30k to 40k if you live in the south.
-
1 AntwortenNo more than 60-70 a year
-
8 AntwortenWhat are your hobbies? Where specifically do you want to live? Do you have a field of work in mind?
-
1 AntwortenDepends on where you live. Going to live by yourself? How much does it cost to keep doing whatever hobbies you have? Need cable/Internet? Do your clothes cost much? Going to have lots of repairs needed on a car? Repairs on the house? The only person that can tell you what you need to know is you. Get a job... If you don't make enough money find another job. Or start with a higher paying job. Or reduce spending and stay at the lower paying job. There's just too many variables and options.
