1. Acquiring the materials is a stupid grind.
- I get it, you're trying to stretch out the content but damn guys. I shouldn’t have to farm 150-250 materials to get 10 materials I need to move on. This was no fun and kinda killed the experience for me. Which is why I waited so long to complete it.
> if you do this again fix the system so I get a mat every 2-3 nodes.
2. Killing the warden and dark blade within 30 seconds.
- holy shit! This is broken! How come the quest will recognize I killed the warden but doesn't recognize I killed the dark blade in the same instance. So now I have to play the whole goddamn thing twice, or 3 times, just to finish the quest = dumb
> don't put a time limit on when I have to kill the boss, just let me kill him and move the fack on.
3. Wait for arms day materials?
- seriously?! WTF did I collect all of these materials for
> no more, goddamn guys you know this shit is stupid
4. No more crazy long quest lines
- I love long quests, I liked the SS quest, the BG quest, but these sword quests are dumb.
> make it more enjoyable for us, less than a grind and more of an adventure.
==== tequila fueled rant over, feedback follow ups below ====
Edit 1:
Wow, thanks everyone for your responses and sharing your thoughts, we were on the Trending page for a couple days, pretty rad. Time for some follow ups:
Gathering Materials:
- Some of you disagreed that this was a chore, you actually enjoyed it. I don't mind farming materials, but getting the special materials needed shouldn't be so spread out. Again, every 2-3 nodes should drop what you're looking for.
Are they worth it?
- Yes, if you havent tried to get one yet, I recommend that you do. If you only have 1 definitely go out and get the other 2. They are very fun to use and very powerful. Also, each one has its own special perks and attributes, which makes each one feel unique.
Long quest lines:
- I also love longer quest lines. I thought the SS and BG quest lines were fantastic and really enjoyed that it felt like I was working towards something. However, my complaint is filling quests with "busy work" to make them feel more in depth than they actually are. I think some of the steps in the sword quests could be evaluated and improved for future quests. I.E. no more busy work - make the steps fun.
Keep the feedback coming!

pfft you just got all 3 swords? i did that ages ago.
-
Remember when we actually had to farm for materials back in year 1? Yeah, that's wasn't one of the experiences we wanted to bring to year 2, Bungie.
-
2 day job for all 3 characters at most.
-
4 AntwortenYou did the quest for all 3?! Lol Do you not know that you only needed to do 1 quest and then you could get all 3 swords? :( Google it.
-
I got Dark Drinker in 2 days, and Raze Lighter the same day. You just suck.

I think that was a Bungle attempt on elaborate farming/grinding quest line. While i think they should have lots of quest lines leading to unique items, they should have more variation. Like if they had a quest line that took a few weeks but in the end you got your classes VoG set to fuse would be awesome. It just would need variety and collecting of lots of different items. Not just farm the same item and only that item for hours. Lets us get boss drops and after a couple we craft X. Then we go collect another 5 of this item in a far away place that takes 15 min of kills. Then charge X item by doing a certain strike and standing in a boss attack. Etc etc. Obviously with a little story along the way at each step that makes you want to grind for the sweet unique item. Tbh i like ToM, sword, Sleeper quest lines ... just need a lot more variation and longer. (Not time gated longer either).
-
I need one more for dark drinker.
-
Eh, the 10 materials one takes about as long as getting all your ability kills, depending on your luck a little longer or a little shorter.
-
1 AntwortenAnybody want to help me get the Arc sword. I keep being matched with idiots who kill all 3 wardens instantly, despite a polite message from me beforehand to not kill the arc warden. It's the only exotic sword left I need. Not a massive sword user, just want to add it to my exotic list. I'll be online 7pm GMT.

The farming portion is ridiculous. It seems like when the quest is active, there are only 3-4 active spawn points for the materials. You have to run around opening chests AND collecting the materials just to make sure they keep spawning. It could keep you in patrol for 10 hours + easy sometimes depending on your RNG Luck. I know someone who farmed for mats 2 hours straight and only got a single "special" upgrade material from the nodes. This quest would not have been that bad had materials spawned in patrols like they did in Y1.

Bearbeitet von EV0LVEDJED1: 7/14/2016 1:12:52 PM///you lost credibility for me when you complained about the Darkblade portion. Mildly challenging at worst and simple at best. Just helped another friend with it last night and I've literally never had to start the mission over in the 10115 times I've been going for my sword or helping others. The criticism of the material farming is the only thing yips bring up that's actually justified IMO.

1 AntwortenWaiting for armsday is pretty stupid. I slipped up and finished the prior step on Thursday. I was pissed. There's no reason to put a time delay on a quest. That concept should be scrapped and banished to bad idea hell.
-
2 AntwortenPeople do know chests & materials are still farmable right? Like, find a chest or material as close to the next section on the planet, open the chest, drive through till next area loads, turn around, get chest again....and again......and again. As long as no other player is in the area you're farming you can do this as long as you can take it. Took me no longer than 1/2hr to get all materials for each sword.

4 AntwortenI can't get my second quest to pop up for My second sword I got it to 300 now what?

The mats grind was definitely annoying, and delayed me completing the quests quite a bit because I dreaded doing it. Felt more like a chore than an awesome quest to get an epic weapon. I did not mind the boss challenge though, and generally I like when they add twists to the strikes or missions to make them more interesting. I needed kills for two of the swords at once, and another guy in the party I joined needed the third, so we actually had to leave ALL of them alive throughout the fight and whittle everybody down. It actually was a very challenging and unique encounter, definitely the hardest boss fight I've had in a strike ever. Now that I have all three swords I am glad I completed the quests though, and generally speaking I like that they added quests that do require a significant investment of time because that means not everyone completes them, which makes the weapon feel more special and like a badge of honor.

1 AntwortenWhen you think about it they could have made the swords ghalrhorn rng and make it to where being lucky enough to get all 3 impossible. So stfu and be happy that it's a long questions and not millions of three of coin grind .....
-
Materials Still need 5 for solar, need 9 for arc cant be asked
-
Yeah the mats are a bit over kill. Doing the ability kills on a hunter was worse for me because half their abilities don't count like the warlocks or titans. Waiting for arms day is just stupid. There are so many quests that make you wait up to a week to get the next part. Like for the first curse, get hand cannon kills with a telem active. Took 15 minuets, now I have to wait a week. Seriously? I get that Bungie wanted to make the gun smith more important but making us wait for days on end for pretty much no reason is ridiculous.
-
Have all three swords. I did all of them back to back to back in about a week (one for each character). So I REALLLLLLLY hated these quests. Yes they are a grind and whoever dreamt this up should be beaten severely enough they have bloody stool for about a week. The material grinding is a pain in the ass. Why it takes 10-15 normal materials to get a rare one sucked ass. But that's really the brunt of the questline. As far as killing the respective warden/Alakuul, pretty easy I think. The first time I did it, i got paired up with randoms. I had originally thought that ALL three wardens needed to be kept alive and then kill all of them along with Alahkuul. This is the hard way and, somehow, my fireteam did it. Later I found out you only needed to keep the one warden alive for whichever sword you're going after. Never had any issue with both kills not registering. But, overall, this quest shouldn't have taken as long as it did. With the farming and waiting, no need for all that I don't think.
-
150 to 250 materials.... I had 5 stacks of 200 spinmetal before i had my 7th zeptocyte. Still wayting for factions to require spinmetal😁
-
The game is a grind what did you expect?
-
2 AntwortenSo basicly what is being said if the quest has to many parts or requires hours of waiting its not worth doing? Well then why play the game. I took every step to do all 3 swords had a blast doing it. Also payed attention to the people who had done it before me so I made sure that each quest was on an Avatar with the right Ability so I did not have to rely on melee or gernades. Never had to do the final part more then once because I teamed up with people who either knew what they were doing or were after the same sword. If the weapons were easy to get then everyone would have them and at that point what is the point? The game would be a stalemate of everyone having the same stuff.. I have worked for everything I have in this game, hours of grinding for the reward.. Don't knock something because its hard..
-
You make it sound like getting all three in a month is fast.
-
The materials was harsh, but not much different from year one. At least now we have ghost that will point out materials. The Darkblade part was easy, I didn't have any problem with it. My friends and I had one of each so we killed all 3 wardens and the boss in under 30 seconds because we didn't want to run the strike 2 more times. Waiting for armsday is something you do for a lot of quest, so I don't see the problem there. I actually like long quests, and the sword wasn't even that long. Quest aren't meant to be quick, if they give good rewards. They should be just below end game content
