Why is Big Bang Theory so popular?
I just watched an episode.
It's fukking awful.
How this shit has lasted so long is beyond me.

Except a few episodes (The James Earl Jones episode, only the part that has Sheldon and James Earl Jones i genuinely laughed at.) the show was bordering on bad, but the cringe factor went up 10x when Bernadette was introduced. On an unrelated note, what moron thought that people would find girls/women with high pitched voices funny? I cant tolerate them.

There's basically two types of people who like the show: A) Average people people who think they're being hip and trendy by enjoying nerd culture B) Nerdy people who don't socialize much who appreciate the abundant references and STEM jokes

1 AntwortenYou have to watch it from season 1. The characters develop over time. Sheldon and Howard carry the show, Leonard and raj are awful though I'll agree on that.

It makes nerd references, that's why people like it. It's not even funny most of the time, but for the people who vaguely consider themselves geeks it gives them validation when a popular TV show references something they're into like Buffy the Vampire slayer or Battlestar Galactica.

7 AntwortenThe Office (US) is the only sitcom I watch on a regular basis. The characters are *mostly* complimentary, the writing is great, and there's no laugh track.
