Let me start by saying this is not a rant or a crying session. I get off work today, ask my 3 boys how their day was. My 13 yr old tells me he put a group together and flew a fire team into his oryx checkpoint. One of the "mature"adults tells my son to hand over fire team lead, so my son being a gullible pre teen he happily surrenders the lead. He then gets kicked from the group for being a kid. I understand a lot of people prefer not to play with children ( myself included ,except of course my children). I get it. This person knew my son was a kid when he joined the party. To me, this is a bit below the belt. He's not upset, neither am I, we both just kinda laughed and shrugged it off.
Let me say my son has many oryx clears, he's better at the raid than many of the people I've played with (reaction time of a 13 yr old is crazy, makes me feel old watching him lol). I guess my point is, you don't want to play with kids, cool nothing wrong with that. Just don't be a prick and cheat your way to a checkpoint by stealing it from a kid, then kicking the kid. Thanks for reading.

I know exactly how you feel. I had one guy send nasty messages to my daughter after a strike (a -blam!-ing "strike" for crying out loud!). And she is actually really good. It made me so freak'n mad if it had been like the old days in the downtown arcade I would have .... (Well as a father you know what would have happened). Sad that we had to use it as a learning experience about how their are people out there that will attack you because they themselves are "unhappy" and that often times it has little to do with you yourself.
-
That is rude. If he wanted the checkpoint all he had to do was leave the team after getting in and wiping. I'll play with kids as long as they aren't obnoxious, and even if they are I give them a few warnings first. And also why I'm fireteam leader, because I won't ever kick someone out of the blue. He'll definitely have learned, at any rate, not to give up fireteam leader.

In my experience with LFG and randoms, five out of ten make no impression, three or four are unbelievably helpful and nice, and one or two are absolute bottom feeding assholes. The problem is the bad ones leave such a bad impression it can be overwhelming. Sorry your son drew the short straw that time. Chances are he'll have a way better experience next time around.

This is one of the many reasons this community sucks. I played with a 14 year old on daliy bases cause he was real good. But this self entitled community is real bad. Tell him to keep his head up. Cause there are a few of us adults who don't care about age in a game or skill. Just like haven fun.

1 AntwortenYeah the destiny community is quite toxic, so I hope him being kicked wasn't a suprise to you or him. The thing is, a lot of adults in the destiny community assume children on destiny are immature scrubs who can't do anything properly and have to be carried through everything. From experience, I have to somewhat agree. Kids on destiny are often careless of their actions and disregard a lot of things that tie the gameplay together. You'll rarely see adults like this because they have left this stage and take destiny a bit more serious and have actual goals they want to achieve throughout destiny, and are knowing of what is required for that. A lot of kids will run into something blind and regardless of anything. However there are some kids who know what they're doing and what is expected of them to become a valued member of the fireteam. These type of kids are as rare as a good nightfall drop.

Lol wow. I prefer to not play with kids but i would never steal a kids checkpoint. What a lazy douche

Okay I was gunna say something about squeakers. But OP that was a dick move by whoever did that to them. That's all I gotta say about that. Funny in a sense but none the less a dick move.

Lesson learned. Never give FT lead unless you know the person. This has existed since day one and will continue to plague the community. Some players, are just assholes.
-
2 AntwortenHats off to the guy who kicked your midget.

I for one don't care what age the player is as long as stuff gets done. Hell, I've played with 10 year olds in games that were much better than most adults. The only thing that changes for me is I regulate the amount of language slipping out of my mouth. I just generally don't like swearing in front of children (the exception is if they swear like a sailor).

Bearbeitet von Barrier: 7/7/2016 3:18:47 PMJust stop letting them play this game. It's trash & so is the community

Good post. Thought this was going to be a "don't you hurt my boy!"post
-
Yep, that's a certified dick move.

2 AntwortenI don't care playing sometimes with kids, but I've kicked some out of fireteams a couple times. When I use PS4 community to search for people to complete my fireteam, it was late night and the team was tired. So I did a post asking for a raider, over 18, mature and experienced. So I've landed on a 13yr old kid from France. He got kicked, simply because the post was clear, OVER 18. Another day, we had one member who quit us, so I only did a post for the normal KF, one raider, experience(we add 2 new guys not knowing the strats). So a kid joins, but during the wait two others member left for the tower to uncript items. The kid invite two of his friends without asking if there was a place left... Results? The three of them got kick. I did some Iron Banner with two 30+ guys that were sending to some adversaries that they were cheaters, simply because they were better then 'em, I quit in mid-game. I don't think I'm a jerk, but I believe in respect, when people don't respect conditions or try to take to many liberties, they should get kicked. Wether I for a team with kids or adults, I might leave or kick out people if they rage, yelle or disrepect others.

3 AntwortenI have no prob playing a game with a kid. Its when the kid acts like a fool on the mic where it gets annoying.
-
Shitty that that happened, but lesson learned here is never give up party lead to a random. Ever.

6 Antworten
I understand a lot of people prefer not to play with children ( myself included
You provided proof that you would do the same thing so don't complain just because it happens to you. That's like spitting on homeless people, then becoming homeless and saying homeless lived matter.

4 AntwortenThis is why I pretend I don't have a mic

1 AntwortenKnow that you're raising a good man (when his time comes) and all other things are irrelevant. Keep being a great dad. Apparently the douche nozzle that kicked your boy didn't have such a role model.

That's just terrible man

Sounds callous but first rule to the interwebz is never trust randos. This goes double if you're a younger fellow. This isn't necessarily a little kid thing unless this guy did it specifically to screw over a kid (which I assume he did it for the checkpoint), I hear of people stealing checkpoints from anyone they can get. Don't really want to start ranting or regurgitating my thoughts on playing with kids. So I'll keep to myself on that as it doesn't have much to do with the topic at hand.
-
That sucks. I do hope that your son learned his lesson though.
-
Ok first the guy was a dick to your son. Secondly tell your son the next time someone ask to take the lead say no if they bitch remove them from the team. Thirdly the loser didn't have to kick your son he was just being a dick they knew they were going to either kick him or bail if he didn't give it up either way the get the check point. If you have the gamer tag report to bungie as being unfriendly etc. No naming and shaming on the forum tho.
