I miss returning to orbit after your fireteam died it made things difficult and hard and required teamwork now kids are complaing about drops from a nightfall that is easier then baiting a hunter in to crying nerf.
Thanks for the great comments guys. Good to see some year one players still around on the forums.
I made a mistake saying it was harder in year one. I really just worded it wrong. The reason for me it was " harder" in year one was because when you got sent to orbit because of a little mistake it was degrading and made it so much longer and more frustrating causing more mistakes. The actually difficulty of the strikes was easier in year one with a few exceptions.

2 AntwortenBack in TDB and Pre - DLC days it was hard but the rewards were worth it.

lmao they were never hard.
-
I remember when they wer actually wort doing!!

4 AntwortenIf you died in a year 1 nightfall you're bad. Stop acting like shit was hard. A cheese spot for every map and weapons that did three times damage, woooooow so hard.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Reeky Jones: 7/8/2016 12:17:21 PMYou do know returning to orbit after a wipe doesn't affect the actual "difficulty" of a nightfall. They're just as difficult as they used to be only now you respawn at a checkpoint. Also, Id argue year 1 was easier because of Primary elemental weapons.

Still think Warsat with arc burn, epic and fallen enemies is one of the hardest due to those ships. Even on a heroic strike (unless you have a defender bubble). Year 1 arc burn was always a challenge but I could solo them all. Bond Brothers and Darkblade are not easy to solo the boss fights. Undecided which year is tougher. I think in Year 1, boss fights were easier because you always had a safe zone but were harder to get to the boss. You had elemental primaries which made a huge difference. Still scarred from Omnigul arc burn as a solo player with no ghally. Payback came later when she survived for six seconds when our fire team used Celestial Nighthawk and ghally shots on solar burn week. Didn't even get a scream out. Still delight in destroying that screaming #*^!!

Nah, it was artificial difficulty. Camp in a spot so enemies don't two shot you.

Year 1 Nightfall no joke....took time and patience....and man did you feel all kinds of low down bad to return the whole fire team to orbit after grinding away to almost done......like Lucy pulling the football on Charlie Brown!
-
Nightfall in year 1 were easy with primary burns, the weekly heroic strikes were harder imo

I remember when you used to have a weapon of every element in your inventory on reset so you could hop right into the Nightfall. Knowing exactly what each strike was before you got into it, what the enemies were, and what your strategy was. Now it's total buIIshit, everything is Taken or a mix of taken and other races. I used to solo all of them on reset night and wake up and run all my RL friends through it. The new modifiers are garbage.. Arc burn/Solar burn/ Void Burn paired with Match Game with Taken who use all three elements... Why even have a burn at all? To get the reward of 18 strange coins when you complete it? Nightfalls have become utterly pointless, just like what happened to PoE when TTK came out... And when RoI comes out everything TTK had will be rendered useless as well... And we will have to regrind again to get the gear we all already had for the 2nd time... Because Bungie gives no fuks... Bungie: "Fuk you, pay me.."
For the same buIIshit content for the 4th time...
1 AntwortenThey were never hard, just tedious. Just because it had an orbit wipe and it took time does not make something difficult. All nightfalls have ever been were glorified strikes nothing more, nothing less! Nightfalls are nothing more then kill adds and kill a boss! Hard would be of they added puzzles and objectives that must be completed within time limits.

Nightfalls were tough, especially if you were under leveled. Remember Taniks NF just after HoW released? That was a tough NF

2 AntwortenDoes anyone remember sitting under the stairs in Cerebrus Vae 3 and Archon NF, because there was no other way to confront the bosses. I had so much fun with friends just hiding and jumping up to shoot a rocket or throw a grenade and then hide and repeat. So many epic fails and clutch moments. I feel like every thing now is just a speed run and then being let down by a terrible rewards screen. I also miss the light that hovered around your head after completing a NF and just seeing all these guardians at 3 in the morning who just finished the nightfall as well. That's when we had actual stories to tell about how we "Became Legend". Those we're the good old days. It's a little sad that Bungie has made every activity easier to accomplish to satisfy those who cry. That's why we have fireteams, to team up with same skilled or more skilled guardians to complete difficult but rewarding tasks. It's just not the same but I still have hope for Rise of Iron.

Solo'ing a nightfall back in year one was a lot like the LASO challenges from Reach. Unforgiving, Hard and there was always the risk that one mis thrown grenade or lack of awareness would lead to orbit and a restart. It was way more challenging. And while one could argue the elemental primaries of the time did a lot to aid the nightfall, and is something we lack now. It still managed to prove more of a challenge than todays Nightfall.

Technically if the cards fall in the right order anything can either be hard or easy It's all probability, luck, and skill
-
Been soloing em since vanilla.
-
Yes I loved it. We always complained about the poor rewards but for some reason, it kept us coming back. It was not only the challenge but also the Blue flame to show that you had completed that challenge. Why? Why on earth would this be taken away?
-
4 AntwortenNeeded team work? I've been soloing them pretty much since launch. But yes, it would be nice if they were a little harder

6 AntwortenWho remembers when the Nightfall was a slog through bullshit just to get no good gear? I do. Who remembers all the times being killed by a single shot from a fairly weak enemy was enough to put you back in Orbit? I do. Who remembers when Nightfalls were good for Strange Coin farming and nothing else? I do. Nightfall was always, and still is always a joke. It will always be a joke, until Bungie realizes that difficult and challenging are not the same. Nightfalls are a big waste of time. I did one earlier today on my own, and all I got was a slightly higher than my own light level Hard Light, which I already have. The old Nightfalls did the same thing to me. Nightfalls are now just Blightfalls filled with annoying Taken enemies.

I remember soloing valus when I was a lvl 26 titan on solar burn in year one. It took me 40 min at the boss fight alone.
-
1 AntwortenI remember spending an hour hiding in corners, all alone 😞
-
1 AntwortenFireteam?? You scrub. Solo them or gtfo.
-
I remember my first nightfall. Val'us... It was awesomely awful. It was great because my friend had been telling me how hard it was. Then we two manned it. Best experience ever.
-
Yep, the first thing that you tried to finish after reset for the XP gains. I miss the blue fire effect on our heads, that was cool.
-
I do. Holy crap. Was the most important activity next to raid. Different time though. The game has changed greatly and new players have no idea.
-
We always just cheesed it by going to orbit and re-joining. I kinda liked the difficulty though. It trained you to get better at pve. Just wish there were better rewards/limited chances to complete it.
