Like, and bump if you agree. I'd like this to get noticed because Bungie's reasoning is ridiculous.
So the argument for not bringing back the Old raids and sparrow racing according to Bungie was something along the lines of "We want it to make sense with the story of Destiny." So I have quite a few counterarguments for that.
1. Sparrow Racing never made sense to begin with.
It was amazing fun, and in my opinion the most balanced thing in the game. However, it had no bearing on TTK at all. So why not just MAKE a reason for it to exist permanently? Who says that it can't just be a way for guardians to wind down and stop killing each other every now and then? Maybe an actual SRL tourney could be held every few months to celebrate the defeat of Oryx, or whatever other raid boss the game wants us to kill. It'd be so easy to just say something like "Guardians are given basic sparrows as a means of transportation. Those who wish to gain the best sparrows must prove themselves on the track."
2. The Vault of Glass wasn't a part of the story until House of Wolves
This raid came out in the beginning of the game's life. The only relevance it had with the main story was that it was Vex related. Destiny has had the story reordered once already. It wouldn't hurt to do a bit more and provide a little backstory to the vault with a few side missions leading up to it. Give us like 2 or 3 small missions or even a strike that gives us a reason to know of the Vault's existence. Then just throw on a 300 light version so that we can get "Ascendant" VoG gear on the same level as King's Fall. This would also bring back the Vex Mythoclast, which has been affected by so many fusion rifle nerfs and buffs that it probably wouldn't make a dent in the PvP meta. I could see it getting reworked for year 3.
3. Crota's End is so underplayed that most year 2 players don't even know who Oryx's son was.
We've got this backstory about TTK. We know we killed his son and that he's out for vengeance. Yet, you can ask most of the players around who Crota is or how you fight him and no one knows. There's no reason for them to know, because he's not relevant to the game anymore even though the story says otherwise. Add a 300 light version and let us get "Radiant" CE gear on the same level as King's Fall. This would also bring back the Necrochasm which was complained about for underperforming. Yet when Bungie buffed it, they then left it in year 1 not even a month later.
4. Old Weapons were brought back with the April Update
This had nothing to do with story. It was just a random "poof" you got some of your old weapons back. And you can only get them from Vanguard or Crucible. Why? How about we work on something significantly cooler and more intuitive and rewarding? Upon leveling up a faction, you get either a Primary, Secondary, or Heavy Voucher. You can use that voucher to purchase any class item or weapon of the category from the vendor. (Dead Orbit would have Exodus Plan, Deviant Gravity, etc for heavy.) Having this system wouldn't be something players could abuse for perfect weapons like Rerolling, but it would still always give you that chance of your perfect weapon or that elusive piece of gear that you could never get your hands on. It would also seem as if the Faction leaders care about your guardian and cater to your playstyle. No one wants a random gift, after all. People would play more and grind more levels, because having a setup that you love seeing and using is always more fun, and there's nothing wrong with working for it so long as it's actually attainable.
5. Trials of Osiris has no meaning in the story either
So why do the other crucible modes need to be "relevant" to the game? If guardians are as human as they seem, it would only make sense that they want to relax sometimes. Whether that be through training or racing, who cares? Maybe the citizens of the tower like watching the races...
6. What's the point in having days of dead content?
This is my biggest argument. I just can't see a point in having unusable weapons and gear. Let us customize. Let us personify. Don't stifle our creativity by saying "Oh, this gun doesn't work anymore because it's a new year." If you want to make our guns ineffective, how about you bring some logic for that? Why does Icebreaker kill Crota's swordbearers but not the Warpriest? Yet, I can take a no land beyond which uses conventional bullets and take him down.
EDIT 1- Tons of support and I am thoroughly surprised. Thanks guys. I didn't know people on this forum could be so respectful. Someone reminded me that the vault was mentioned in passing during The Archive.
EDIT 2- I'm all the way amazed at 300+ likes in less than 24 hours. At this rate, Bungie has to at least see it.
A few more points to add in as well.
7. Omnigul, Archon Priest, and Valus Ta Aurc have no relevance in the current story.
I'm aware that Archon Priest and Valus both have taken variants of their strikes. However, you can find normal non taken versions of the bosses on these strikes. Omnigul was killed in The Dark Below as a part of the story, yet here she is, leading CROTA'S armies. See how this is a problem in terms of logic and consistency?
8. Story missions can be replayed on an at light difficulty and in any order. So why not raids?
It just doesn't add up. How can I start off with The Taken King missions at level 25 because I paid 30$ for a boost? My guardian will know nothing of the story or missions that came before. By that logic, every mission in the game should be 25+. Instead, missions are 25+ for TTK and going back before level 40 makes the old ones all a breeze.

A million BUMPS!!!! agree 100%

I just have one thing to ask Bungie: WHO GIVES A S***!! They're acting like Destiny has a deep rich story (in game) that they simply can't clash with because of how wonderful it is, what a joke lol. This is the equivalent of 343 removing forge, custom games & theater mode because it doesn't make sense in the Halo universe. This company is full of actual idiots.

Logic isn't Bungies specialty

Fully agree Bump

Bearbeitet von GenXer: 7/6/2016 4:29:51 PMSorry, at work and could not read the whole thing which seems generally well thought out. One comment though: "Give us like 2 or 3 small missions or even a strike that gives us a reason to know of the Vault's existence." The Library mission tells us of the Vault of Glass. There are probably other references as well, but that one immediately comes to mind. -Edit: Your premise may make sense in light of the bifurcation of experience as NewGen leaves OldGen behind. Not sure Bungie will want to expend the effort (money) to alter code base, though. Could be quite an overhaul to do so, even if, once completed, it's basically static on the OldGen platforms. Might be neat for some players though to come back to OldGen form time to time to play the old stuff.

8 AntwortenBring back sparrow but old raids suck now including kings fall very boring

Make it happen bungie

3 AntwortenAgree 100% I need the crux of Crota to finally get my Necrochasm, but I don't really feel like it would be worth it anymore, since it's only 170 and so are the rest of the drops in CE.
-
2 AntwortenI will always be proud to say that I can run any role, any job, any position on any raid. It took some time, but I've been able to master everything from relic in VoG to sword in CE to gaze and aura and relic in Kings Fall. I also know most (if not all) the shortcuts and can fill in any spot necessary
this isn't to brag or anything. I'm simply saying what I've been able to achieve over my entire experience in destiny
Bumping again, coz the truth is bein' preached here.

Bearbeitet von Mikeachusetts: 7/6/2016 2:04:37 PMIf they made events based on What would have made sense story wise... That would be dogfight crucible. Aerial combat in space. 2 maps, the reef and Saturn rings. Pve and pvp events. Pve events will be groups of 6 pilots raining hell on oryx' tomb ships as they approach the reef. Pvp mode would be a FFA or Teamed battles outside the reckage and saturn's belt. SRL was an idea a small group of people requested during the first month of destiny. During e3 they stated that it was something fun they made during a "hackathon". SRL never made sense with any story or any timeline in destiny. Just so happens that it was good filler for summer months between dlcs. So maybe when destiny needs something to waste your time with it will return with a new shader, emblem, micro transactions that will replace last years micro transactions... And so on..
I enjoyed SRL a lot. I am not trying to sound negative about it at all. Maybe towards bungie's reasoning for it not being permanent.
-
Don't forget if they wont bring srl back then for the love of all that's holy, take kits and horns out of nightfall rewards.

having the old raids back can only be a good thing as you have more to do, but im not sure bungie are capable because when the game was released it was tied down to the legacy consoles which would limit on certin things they could do, remember they removed stuff so they could have a larger vault, but as i am aware now the legacy consoles will not receive any more updates which to be fair the consoles should never been part of in the first place, was just greed by activison and bungie. but yea would be great to add these back with like complete the glass bountys and receive year1 weapons

1 AntwortenBungie do something that's makes complete sense and make all content worth playing? Yeah right. I mean we all did pay for it, yet 50% of the game is pointless to play. ALL new players are literally skipping everything pre takin King.
-
No. Leave it in the past
-
4 AntwortenI want sparrow racing I thought that was ggarunteed coming back
-
16 AntwortenGuess what? Bungie are making it up as they go along. They have never had a plan, never had a story, just some decent shooting mechanics and some of the worst devs in the business. Good excuse for not doing something according to Bungie, it doesn't make sense. May aswell have said they don't have time to explain. Pricks.
