Oh how many times it's happened. I see a sniper at the back of the map. I pull out my Badger CCL/MIDA/etc and line up the shot. About this time, said sniper sees me and raises his rifle to challenge me. I peg him twice in the head, then he promptly gives me the proverbial middle finger and kills me with a headshot. Here's my issue: this happens a LOT. The occasional lucky shot I can deal with, but when I'm shooting a guy in the head, he should not be able to maintain the line of sight needed to headshot me anyways...with consistency.
Now I'm not the type to complain without offering solutions, so here's mine. In my perfect Destiny world(s), aim assist would be removed from sniper rifles as it's my belief that sniping should be difficult and reward a truly skilled hand. However, through discussion with an individual of a differing point of view, I realize that this would not be viable without crushing sniping enjoyment for the more casual crowd. Therefore, my proposal is to make there be significantly more sniper scope bounce upon receiving a headshot.
This way, if you take a shot to the torso/arm/leg, you can still fight through and land the kill-shot. However, if you're taking a face full of lead/plasma, you can't just say "lol cute" and consistently land head shots. I am but a lone guardian. I want to hear the thoughts of my fellow players.
Edit: I am totally open to alternative suggestions to what I've offered if anybody cares to share. I value constructive dialogue in the name of improving a game.
Edit 2: Some solid proposals I've seen:
-De-scope on headshot
-Place "sway" mechanic on snipers
-Extend ADS times/lower overall Handling for Sniper Rifles based on impact (Higher Impact = lower handling speed)
-Give sniper bullets travel time akin to Queenbreaker's Bow
-Perk that has a chance to descope snipers upon headshot
-Randomize flinch pattern/direction
-Scale the amount of flinch/de-scope based on a combination of the range and impact stats. So a weapon like Badger CCL would cause massive flinch or de-scope upon headshot but an auto rifle like Doctrine of Passing would cause little to no flinch.
Some less solid/reliable proposals:
-Git gud
-Lrn 2 Strafe
-Don't challenge snipers (they are Gods)
-Raise your K/D, then complain
-Lern 2 stratajize
I'll update this as I see more. Thanks guys and gals!

17 Antworten...is totally fine in destiny and takes a PLENTIFUL amount of skill. Now, repeat after me. "I promise to no longer complain about dumb stuff that does not need to be changed."
-
I see all these replies saying to descope like in halo but you have to remember halo also had near perfect hipfire and a hipfire reticle destiny has little to no hipfire accuracy nor a reticle.
-
Weapon sway and flinch are needed heavily to balance still scoped snipers
-
Yeah, I agree. But when you're on the giving end of the sniper (as I assume everyone has been at some point), it's fun sniping some random asshat from across the room without flinching because of a lucky shot (or well-placed shot, depending on your opponent's skill level). Otherwise, you have my complete agreement.

Or... maybe just buff everything else.
-
Decrease stability too. They can be more stable than a handcannon sometimes.
-
Scouts need more accuracy at range and better flinch when hitting precision.
-
Buff primaries
-
Make snipers a heavy weapon like they where in alpha. They hit hard enough to be a heavy it eliminates the issue and keeps them in tact.
-
There needs to be a major hit-punch. If you don't know what that is, it's basically if you get hit with a bullet your character staggers his gun up and his line of sight is thrown off. You see person sniping at the back of the map, you peg a headshot, his scope knocks way upwards, messing up his lined up shot. So many games already have this, it just doesn't seem strong enough in Destiny. This would prevent people misusing the snipers power (the plebs who run around acting like there close to mid range weapons)
-
Very good point, imo they should just descope on hit,
-
It's not that simple homie, if you shoot first you usually have the upper hand since the flinching can be annoying, however sometimes you can pull the trigger at the right moment and it would lead to a nice shot. Personally as a sniper I prefer targetting people shooting me or other snipers. Feel free to run up to a sniper from the sides and you will almost always have the upper hand unless they use, ugh, the universal remote. Cheers :)

I've been loving using the HoJ, with Third Eye. I can usually get a headshot in on a sniper, the impact knocks their aim away and 2 more in quick succession finishes it. I'm not a great crucible player, but have been increasing my k/d lately!

A lot of the time it's lag. On their end the flinch hasn't actually happened yet to due to lag., so their actually getting an easy shot , even if it feels like you got them first with a few bullets.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Frosted: 7/1/2016 11:13:25 PMGet close so they can't shoot.

3 AntwortenJust get close and make him challenge you with his primary

Massive flinch or descoping

Original reply talking about how you shouldnt just challenge snipers while not acknowledging the fact that snipers still absolutely dominate PvP in every way, to try and defend the meta.

7 AntwortenA: ban sniper rifles from pvp that it.

33 AntwortenBearbeitet von Loganic: 7/1/2016 6:17:08 PMI think that this whole "remove aim assist" thing is getting out of hand. I admit, I do snipe and enjoy it a lot (and do get those flinched shots) but hear me out. Halo is an example of a game where sniping is near useless. Reason? 1 scopes are for very long range. 2. You descope when you are hit (Also, many guns can manage a shot from long range). 3? Very little AA. This is a precision gun we're talking about. Aim assist is the slowing of your reticle on a target, and then the lock-on ability afterwards. Try sweeping any gun in Destiny by Crota at the end of the Raid (I do this weekly). You miss when you miss (use Hereafter, very high AA, be just a little bit off). The only thing you'll notice is that it slows your reticle when it goes on him. Sniping is not easy. Try sniping. You only notice the snipers that are good, because you don't notice unless you're hit. And that hit is usually on the head. It is very hard managing a DoP while sniping, but if I can do that in Trials, hooray for me.

1 AntwortenKeep the aim assist and flinch, but the sniper is descoped from a head-shot, I would say.
-
My solution, lower auto aim and make impact only affect headshots. All body shots from any sniper in PvP would be 100 damage. This way you cant get shot once from an auto rifle and then get shot in the foot from a sniper and die. Since impact only affects headshots, you would still be able to one shot supers. Same goes for PvE, around maybe 4000-5000 damage for a body and then headshots would be much higher based on your imact.
-
3 AntwortenLive in the real world of combat. See a sniper, keep your head down till you can "close with, and destroy".
-
11 AntwortenSimple, head shots should descope and body shots should give more flinch. Balanced
-
I'm not the only one this happens to? That makes me feel better. My solution would probably be the same as yours, since that would be the only solution that wouldn't anger all the snipers.
