Oh how many times it's happened. I see a sniper at the back of the map. I pull out my Badger CCL/MIDA/etc and line up the shot. About this time, said sniper sees me and raises his rifle to challenge me. I peg him twice in the head, then he promptly gives me the proverbial middle finger and kills me with a headshot. Here's my issue: this happens a LOT. The occasional lucky shot I can deal with, but when I'm shooting a guy in the head, he should not be able to maintain the line of sight needed to headshot me anyways...with consistency.
Now I'm not the type to complain without offering solutions, so here's mine. In my perfect Destiny world(s), aim assist would be removed from sniper rifles as it's my belief that sniping should be difficult and reward a truly skilled hand. However, through discussion with an individual of a differing point of view, I realize that this would not be viable without crushing sniping enjoyment for the more casual crowd. Therefore, my proposal is to make there be significantly more sniper scope bounce upon receiving a headshot.
This way, if you take a shot to the torso/arm/leg, you can still fight through and land the kill-shot. However, if you're taking a face full of lead/plasma, you can't just say "lol cute" and consistently land head shots. I am but a lone guardian. I want to hear the thoughts of my fellow players.
Edit: I am totally open to alternative suggestions to what I've offered if anybody cares to share. I value constructive dialogue in the name of improving a game.
Edit 2: Some solid proposals I've seen:
-De-scope on headshot
-Place "sway" mechanic on snipers
-Extend ADS times/lower overall Handling for Sniper Rifles based on impact (Higher Impact = lower handling speed)
-Give sniper bullets travel time akin to Queenbreaker's Bow
-Perk that has a chance to descope snipers upon headshot
-Randomize flinch pattern/direction
-Scale the amount of flinch/de-scope based on a combination of the range and impact stats. So a weapon like Badger CCL would cause massive flinch or de-scope upon headshot but an auto rifle like Doctrine of Passing would cause little to no flinch.
Some less solid/reliable proposals:
-Git gud
-Lrn 2 Strafe
-Don't challenge snipers (they are Gods)
-Raise your K/D, then complain
-Lern 2 stratajize

Things that should be changed about snipers in my opinion. Increase flinch and randomness of said flinch baised off of how much damage you take and if its headshots you are taking while scout rifles do bonus flinch to snipers. Also reduce the time to switch to snipers from a primary and vise versa.

I dont have any issue with taking on snipers but what i hate is when your health is low u move to hide around the corner and seemingly get shot behind a wall lag i reckon but - pretty frustrating

I'm still good with a low aim assist sniper :'D. Do you know the green sniper gozen-c? It has minus aim assist and I play very well with it :).

I'm not sure how even the most devoted snipers could argue with this (but they will of course). High impact, long ranges scout rifles should be able to give snipers a run for their money. I hope Bungie takes notice.

sniping takes some skill but not in all situations. To me this game is so wrong. They nerf everything that is not killing pvp but leave things that are. There should be much more flinch for sniping. They also should allow more agility for certain guns without having a lightweight perk. The little things would make the game better.

I think the aim assist should be cut in half. It's getting close to their bird time or go back to day 1 crucible stats for weapons

Yeah this happens way too often with me. The other day I pumped 3 bursts of my grasp into some guys face only to get headshotted before I could finish the kill. Shits ridiculous

Yup. I was mid/close range with a guy. Fire two bursts from my Nirwin's right into his head and he sniped me before the third burst.

Since i prefer to snipe im not going to disagree cause cause that would have to much bias but i think either it should be like halo were it forces you out of aim or we need way mor stager upon being shot

Hits two 55's to the head on a sniper with my mida, gets my head separated from my body .... Makes sense

my fav is watching snipers walk around or move from left to right very fast and still pull off HS. there should be some major bounce/sway to that weapon with that much movement.

Here's destiny's sniping issue...In just about every other fps, every weapon has just about the same time to kill, so unless you're VERY far away you have about a 50/50 chance at taking them down before they have a chance to fire, destiny...no with destiny, unless you're dealing with a complete tool there's almost no way to contest, you're forced to hit them at BEST 3 times before they can fire a single shot and that just simply isn't fast enough... Then there's Bungie being complete jackass' by making snipers over powered on purpose...Bungie - "lets see, we can give the snipers: ridiculous aim assist, almost zero sight sway, a perk that gives you MORE aim assist, another that reduces the flinch when you get shot, we'll give them enough power to kill people that have been revived in a single shot and hmm..what else....OH Yeah lets give them a -blam!-ing quick scope sights for good measure".....First, quick scoping shouldn't even be a thing,it just shouldn't in my opinion if you have people sprinting around a map with a sniper rifle and 1 Hit KO'ing people like a shotgun you're doing it wrong..Second, at least in COD and Battlefield it takes a tiny bit of skill to do..but freakin destiny where litteraly ANY asshole can do it and you completely screw up game types...I mean look at Elimination and Trials of Osiris...That's not an elimination death match, it's just who can rush with shotguns better, or which team can snipe better What would I do to fix it? Quick scopes, gone (shouldn't be around in the first place) aim assist completely removed EXCEPT for players with a VERY low K/D, because new players should be allowed some help, but disable it after like .80 K/D, add scope sway, and add one hell of a flinch when shot, skilled snipers can still kill you no problem, but the ones who get hit 20 freaking times and are still allowed perfect aim.. no, their done. Secondaries in general need fixing.

Ikr heavy hitting scouts and handcannons should send scopes bouncing all over the screen. The same can be said for rapid fire auto rifles. Someone shouldn't be able to land a headshot if I'm constantly providing a steady line of fire to their face.

Hopefully In the future Weekly PVP games will ban a weapon or disable a weapon for challenging combat. For example next week's Crucible game : Special Weapon Disabled are: Sniping weapons and etc. Or another example bonus points for not using snipers. 15+ kills = Supa Ultimate Exotic Platinum Glass Engram Example July 4-8 temporary weapons ban - Sniper/ recommended weapon for high yield Engram = hand cannon July 9-10 temporary weapons ban - Rocket Launchers/ recommended weapon for high yield Engram = Pulse Rifle If they gave high value awards for not using sniper people would enjoy the game

Snipers just need a massive increase to flinch when hit in the head. If I'm landing my shots consistently, you should not be able to say "lol no" and dome me without a challenge.

Destiny would be better if there was less flinch. Doctrine wouldn't be op. High RoF guns would have less advantage. You should descope after taking 50-80 damage when you're sniping.
