Oh how many times it's happened. I see a sniper at the back of the map. I pull out my Badger CCL/MIDA/etc and line up the shot. About this time, said sniper sees me and raises his rifle to challenge me. I peg him twice in the head, then he promptly gives me the proverbial middle finger and kills me with a headshot. Here's my issue: this happens a LOT. The occasional lucky shot I can deal with, but when I'm shooting a guy in the head, he should not be able to maintain the line of sight needed to headshot me anyways...with consistency.
Now I'm not the type to complain without offering solutions, so here's mine. In my perfect Destiny world(s), aim assist would be removed from sniper rifles as it's my belief that sniping should be difficult and reward a truly skilled hand. However, through discussion with an individual of a differing point of view, I realize that this would not be viable without crushing sniping enjoyment for the more casual crowd. Therefore, my proposal is to make there be significantly more sniper scope bounce upon receiving a headshot.
This way, if you take a shot to the torso/arm/leg, you can still fight through and land the kill-shot. However, if you're taking a face full of lead/plasma, you can't just say "lol cute" and consistently land head shots. I am but a lone guardian. I want to hear the thoughts of my fellow players.
Edit: I am totally open to alternative suggestions to what I've offered if anybody cares to share. I value constructive dialogue in the name of improving a game.
Edit 2: Some solid proposals I've seen:
-De-scope on headshot
-Place "sway" mechanic on snipers
-Extend ADS times/lower overall Handling for Sniper Rifles based on impact (Higher Impact = lower handling speed)
-Give sniper bullets travel time akin to Queenbreaker's Bow
-Perk that has a chance to descope snipers upon headshot
-Randomize flinch pattern/direction
-Scale the amount of flinch/de-scope based on a combination of the range and impact stats. So a weapon like Badger CCL would cause massive flinch or de-scope upon headshot but an auto rifle like Doctrine of Passing would cause little to no flinch.
Some less solid/reliable proposals:
-Git gud
-Lrn 2 Strafe
-Don't challenge snipers (they are Gods)
-Raise your K/D, then complain
-Lern 2 stratajize
I'll update this as I see more. Thanks guys and gals!

2 AntwortenTbh, your post shows just how ignorant you are. Not even going to take you seriously m8. Completely remove aim assist on snipers?! WTH?! You do know what aim assist IS... right?
-
2 AntwortenI completely agree. I complain about this everyday and won't stop

Bearbeitet von TGI Skuldier: 7/6/2016 8:58:46 AM-blam!- the casual crowd. -blam!- the try hard crowd too. Pandering to either is ruining the game. Year 1 Destiny was fine, Year 2 mid crota was fine. But people just kept bitching and now look where we're at. You would think the community would have learned it's lesson by now.

I personally love the slide/turn hard 90/scope in and headshot. Obviously I just suck lol
-
Why when running, jumping, and sliding is so easy on this game its OP

Bearbeitet von xfaintBUNNYx: 7/6/2016 7:16:48 AMIncrease zoom distance. Make getting hit with a precise shot de scope you from ads . But in turn you need to add a reticle in hip fire to make no scopes possible so that we have the ability to combat shot guns . Since every single map and character build seems to make shut guns run destiny. Then cut the game speed in half so that shot guns can't bridge snipe lane gaps from across Map in less then five seconds. The we wouldn't need to quick scope no scopes and drag scopes
-
Juat do.t challange him any more get in close.
-
High caliber rounds cause precision hits to descope snipers, a zoom increase for the popular scopes, and maps that have more than 1-3 sight lines so people don't crowd around them.
-
1 AntwortenAll they need to do to solve this is increase the flinch moderately. Not to break the weapon, but to bring scout rifles up to- or close to- par for long-range engagements. In this way, people would try to look for sniper rifles for Unflinching, right? This perk takes up the same slot as Hidden Hand, forcing them to choose between more flinch control or more aim assist. I think they should buff Unflinching, frankly. It doesn't do much right now, which is a shame.

1 AntwortenYour first mistake is challenging a camping sniper head on. Obviously, it's what they want you to because that's probably THEIR BEST SKILLSET............. If I'm running around and I see a sniper scope glimmer out of the corner of my eye, you'd best bet I'm not directly challenging someone waiting for me to get in their line of sight. I'm either searching for cover, heading the opposite way, OR I'm finding a way to flank them to at least make them move. Tl;dr Lern 2 stratajize.

I don't know why everyone thinks sniping is so easy... I miss plenty of times.

10 AntwortenBearbeitet von Hulkksmash: 7/5/2016 9:38:16 PMRemoving aim assist would turn snipers worthless. You ever try snipe your friends across the map during a raid? Yeah no one would ever use them. Shotguns are bigger issue. Lets just run full speed at everything and one shot every person in my path. If it gets hairy then shadestep to the side and slide shotty them. Requires zero skill
-
1 AntwortenIf you do run a scout rifle don't push a sniper head on. Find a flank or if you do pish him head on get a shortly and rush his ass. Don't go in choke points. In trials team shot him when I snipe I always Troy and move after I shot but that's leaves Mr open just team shot to go in a choke point one at a time.

3 AntwortenSnipers won't get the treatment they need. It would make them almost unusable in PVE activities. Untill we start seeing groups clear the raid w/o snipers the sh!t ain't happening.
-
2 AntwortenYou PVP players have already destroyed sniper ammo for PVE, are you now trying to ruin snipers all together, like you did with shotguns in PVE? Until Bungie can show that they can separate nerfs and buffs for PVP and PVE, i think they should let things be.
-
1 AntwortenHeadshots should cause flinch on a sniper. There fixed
-
9 AntwortenGit gud. There's already an insane amount of flinch on snipers.
Seriously if you challenge a hard scoper with a primary you deserve to die every time lmao
-
8 AntwortenAim assist makes sniping harder lol And destiny doesn't have perfect bullet lines (i.e harder to jump snipe and quickscope ) a sway should kick in after 5 seconds of scoping
-
1 AntwortenI gave you all of those less solid proposals. :)
-
All sniper aim assist does is make the gun stickier. It does not pull shots. That is the overpowered Scout that shoots through walls: Mida Multi Tool
-
Sniping in Destiny is like shooting a laser.
-
I would say put in a small sway. Now if you can use it like intended, ADS when needed, then you don't experience the effect. But after a set time (a few seconds?) the scope sways more and more the longer it is held. In the scenario you stated it wouldn't make much of a difference, but it would stop people hardscoping lanes and level the playing field a little bit. If you're having a battle with a scout and sniper then the sniper will be hardscoping the whole time. This will mean that they have to end the battle quickly or their chances of victory plummet exponentially.
-
Idk, I came back from a 2 week break and I'm hitting snipes all over the place, easily 10x better than I was when I left. Sniping isn't hard in this game, that being said, nothing is extremely hard in this game. While it's easy to get snipes, it's not easy to be consistent with them. Takes time and persistence to become highly skilled with them, even with the best of rolls, just how it should be.
-
If I can get consistent headshots under machine gun fire with nlb then they need nerfed, or changed in some way. Especially considering my stats.
-
7 AntwortenSo as I sniper I can't stop but laugh at this thread. Most fps games has predictable recoil and flinch so one can learn to master it. Same goes for destiny, a sniper that knows his sniper will beat the mida scrub every day. Knowing how much to pull down on the thumb stick when being flinched is practice and experience which makes the hs happen, or waiting for the flinch to reset, super easy now thanks mida nerf, then hitting the hs. Secondly lag, you hit him in the head I'm sure you did, but on his screen you popped out into the sniper lane and did nothing, and got rekt for it but don't worry you looked cute attempting whatever it was. And imo the hardest thing to kill is high rof shit that all hits face, dop gom. etc.
