I keep getting the message "contacting destiny servers" on my screen so I literally can't go anywhere or do anything.

Past about 1mbps in both directions, bandwidth is generally not the issue...don't get duped into upgrading to a "faster" plan. It isn't actually faster...just a fatter pipe so you can move a larger chunk of data in the same time frame. The small bits of data move at the same speed whether it is a 2mbps plan or 200mbps...speed is limited by the slowest medium (fiber, copper, WiFi, satellite) along your route. Larger bandwidth may help with zone loads provided the host is able to push out at a higher bandwidth, but considering the players are hosting PVP content, that is likely to cap at a lower point than most people's download bandwidth rating. What matters most are latency and packet loss. More specifically, consistently low latency with no packet loss. If packets are not delivered consistently, you will have problems...anything from rubberbanding and skipping to unregistered hits and flat out disconnects. Latency problems frequently stem from networking issues along the route your ISP assigns you to get to a host across the internet. It is a common issue in the US. May not be on your ISP's network...often times it is upstream at or after the exchange point to another ISP. These routing decisions are managed first and foremost by your ISP's policies. So more often than not, your ISP may be your best advocate for investigating and addressing issues with bad latency or packet loss. Another common point for issues is actually on the player's end. Be that their systems themselves or something with their network. Many have resolved issues by simply power cycling devices...be that the modem, router, their system, or any combination of them. It is important though that your network be configured properly. Make sure to go through the networking guide. Read all of it first before doing anything. As mentioned in the guide, things like port forward and DMZ are not generally needed in home setups. Those are more workarounds for stricter environments like in the workplace or universities. In such environments you may need to contact the network admins to make sure other changes aren't needed on their end first. A standard IPV4 setup with NAT should work just fine....UPnP may improve things for hosting if it works properly but should not be necessary in most home setups with just one console (UPnP is necessary with more than one console in use). Try undoing DMZ or port forwards. Disable IPV6. Strip it to the basics and it should get you in unless there are other issues aside from your network. Can enable UPnP on the router and console to see if it improves matchmaking and hit registration issues...make sure to run your console's internet connection test after enabling UPnP though. In the past some consoles have not initialized UPnP properly until that test is run. May be a good idea to run that test again if things get wonky...was a common issue at one time with PlayStation's a while back.

2 AntwortenThat was happening to me a lot, and my connection was good, no problems with other games, none, just Deatiny. Then I was told it was my connection by a couple of people who were adamantly saying it was my set up, not Destiny's servers. Ok, somehow that does not seem logical, but I buy into it and pay for higher speed everything, connect directly to my router, my connection is now perfect!!!! However, still getting kicked, always a green bar, and now it says I cannot connect to Destiny servers. It's on their end, not ours, no reason their servers should suck this bad, no other games do this on my set up. And if anyone try's to tell me it's my set up? You can suck my big toe, because it's not. I should not have to have a GD degree to figure out how to connect, that's Bungies job, make this shite more user friendly!!!!..........whew, I feel better now, I hope the servers come back up!!!.....lol!!
