This can be debated though. Very few weapon and armor combinations.

There are quite a few actually. I usually switch it up depending on what kind of damage the boss does, like arcane or fire, or just plain beat the -blam!- out of you punching.

Yes, but compared to other souls games it just feels very lackluster. It was a good game by all means, I'm just saying that it can be debated primarily using that reason.

It's in the souls genre. The mechanics are too similar to not be.

"The souls genre" ? A game can't be it's own genre... A game is a genre/genre's. The two are role playing games.

But comparing the two because they have similar mechanics is dumb. They probably couldn't be less similar. The quality of the items, the amazing story, the polished feel of it, the atmosphere, the whole game is different to souls and shouldn't be compared or you are missing the full experience.

The whole game? How about just the story, map, and SOME gameplay changes. Other than that, it's the same. The concept of backtracking when you die, farming for items, blood echoes (souls), items that give you more echoes (soul items) pretty much the same skill tree minus a thing or two, rename a thing or two, and add a thing or two, the decision whether to use your echoes (souls) to level or to use them to buy items that can help you (although not as important as the other souls games), and a HEAVY HEAVY emphasis on stamina management.

That's fair, but I think people compare this game to dark souls too much and that puts them of the game. Bloodborne couldn't be less like dark souls and if you think it is i believe you're missing the full experience and that you should see it as it is. It's own, amazing game that happens to be made by the same guy as dark souls.
