So i just came back on to destiny took like a year off since i got bored of it. Came back all my weapons are like 150 and i see that you can only upgrade them with etheric light, but how can I even get if if the only way you can is through prison of elders on level 34 and it doesnt have matchmaking. Seriously how do you not have matchmaking still? For a solo players its near impossible to get etheric light. I cant solo 34 prison of elders. already tried, didnt work. I guess im forever stuck with 160 damage weapons. Cant even do the nightfall or weekly either. So dumb. I even tried looking for guardinas and noone is doing level 34 prison of elders. jeez.

It's as if you were cryogenically frozen and thawed out an hour ago, immediately loaded up the game and an went straight to the forums. (I apologize for my observation if this post is not troll bait)

Bearbeitet von The_Maul117: 6/14/2016 1:52:42 PMWell, first off, I shall prepare myself in case this might be a troll or bait, but anyways... Think of your change in damage as NOT a nerf in damage, but rather just a different numbers generator. Etheric Light is no longer relevant, but rather an introduction to "Infusion", which has seen a significant increase in appeal with this year's April Update.
There's a lot on that, so I'll save it and recommend that you learn about it thoroughly via YouTube...
If you play through The Taken King questline, your Year 1 weapons can still be very effective against enemy combatants. It's when you finish the questline, that you will begin to progress your Guardian through Lv 40 and up to 335 light level, at the expense of having to experience new ways to build your Guardian to become more efficient with the cost of having to replace your existing gear. We'll talk about that further on. (If you want to know the difference in normal level and light level, hover your cursor over your respective ones and read what they describe on your character screen. Other than that, yes, there are Year 2 equivalents to some Year 1 weapons that they have placed into The Taken King to receive through doing certain strikes, which brings us to strike specific loot.) Imago Loop (Fatebringer "in a way") = Undying Mind/Echo Chamber strikes. Treads Upon Stars (Vision of Confluence) = Dust Palace/Shield Brothers/Cerberus Vae III strikes. Grasp of Malok (Oversoul Edict) = The Will of Crota strike. They've also brought back some Year 1 weaponry like the Shadow Price, Y-09 Longbow Synthesis, The Devil You Know, etc.. (There's also strike specific pieces of armour you can get by doing these strikes...) Luckily, The Taken King Legendary Edition on PS4 is on sale at $29.99 via digital download, so to save yourself $30.01, is a good deal compared to it's original price being $59.99. I have no knowledge of what Xbox is doing, so if you're on Xbox, I do not have that information. One thing I recommend though, is that you do not dismantle your existing gear if you ever decide to start playing The Taken King. Keep it all in your vault when you find no further use for it all, because that gear is no longer available in Year 2. I'll be honest... As a new player to The Taken King, you'll probably have the best next 3 months of your life playing Year 2, considering Rise of Iron (Which is Year 3) is coming out right after, in September. The Taken King got dry for most of us because we've played it for more than 8 months straight now. For me, it lasted for 5 - 6 months, so you're lucky if you're just now thinking about getting it. Good luck, Guardian. Peace.
Even if this were a supposed troll, I still enjoyed talking... Haha
