So, I just read the subclass and weapon changes. I won't be ranting about those changes. Instead, I'd like to draw special attention to a sentence in the paragraph about sunsingers.
"Sunsingers, while not out performing other classes, are still creating frustrating encounters."
Basically, this literally translates into "Sunsingers are not more powerful than other classes, but are obnoxious to fight against."
This ideal that brings upon the downfall of firebolts is fundamentally flawed. Essentially, they are changing the balance of the class not based upon the actual balance of the class in relation to others, but based on how obnoxious they are. This philosophy is so flawed I can't even begin to explain why. Please help me out here.
Let me give you an example:
"The Fourth Horseman, while not out performing other guns, is still creating frustrating encounters."
This philosophy is quite literally, "Something is not overpowered, but it is obnoxious. Therefore, it should get nerfed."
Think of how flawed this is. Imagine the endless balance patches and changes that will result not from something being overpowered, but from something being obnoxious. Think about that.
Yeah, I'm a sunsinger. Yeah, I'm pissed about the changes. Not becuase I don't think they should be nerfed. I'm simply upset at the reasoning they give. It's a pathetic excuse and opens the door for more things to be changed with the same excuse. It's upsetting, and we should be careful about this sort of thing moving forward.

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von iDare2Defy: 6/14/2016 1:15:11 PMOne can't help but recollect the times before Trials of Osiris. Remember those days of the crucible? What were the complaints...hmm Vex, Suros, Pocket Infinity, Thorn and Felwinters. That's all that comes to mind. Mostly weapon tuning. But then ToO drops and the nerf calls have been real :/ Seems like such a competitive game mode has brought out the most salt in people and resulted in all these ridiculous subclass nerfs. Nobody ever complained about Sunsingers back in the day. Their grenade has always been the same. Ain't nobody ever complain about Gunslingers so...wtf is up with that bit? I just think it's kind of funny how the events leading up to this have transpired and resulted in some stupid class changes because they were "frustrating" and "over used."

IMO, it's Bungie's weapon nerfs that are "frustrating" and "obnoxious". I wasn't lucky enough to get Gally to drop. Bought it from Xur and BAM, nerfed shortly after. I was lucky enough to get a good Doctrine of Passing to drop last week. Yep - nerfed before I get a chance to become proficient with it. This is the type of stuff that is really frustrating.

1 AntwortenAt least doctrines and shadestep are out of the picture as crutches!
-
Agreed bunch of asshats that make decisions for this game
-
I main a warlock. No big deal. Fire bolts are cheap anyway. Placing a solar grenade or sticking people with fusions is more honorable imo. It's all relative, we all have to adapt to the new builds. I'm sure something new will arise that everybody cries about lol. It's more obnoxious to me to be killed by bullshit that is connection related. Seems to me they should be focused more on getting less lag into the crucible than more variety in subclass builds.... But I guess that's none of my business. Oh those Titans with the shield are obnoxious!!!! Remember we are all supposedly fighting the darkness and just using crucible to hone our skills so let's try not to be obnoxious douches!!!

1 AntwortenThe meaning behind it lies in the fact it's the only thing ever used.... So it creates a stale experience for the opposition. By doing the changes they have it allows for more variety which in turn will provide a more even flow in the battle.

They need to play the game not look at numbers and stats and say oh if there all using that then it must be op. I mean come on even the game testers and devs could not do the normal raid when there at light level 335 without dying multiple times they have no clue.
-
2 AntwortenThey want people to have fun playing there game not to be annoyed. Wow how dare they think of how to reduce players rage. Blasphemy!
-
Apparently Bungie wants warlocks to be hated by everyone because sunsinger doesn't work like it used to before
-
"We're now resorting to nerfs to minimize complaints" "Because little scrubs are crying about something were going to listen and nerf those things" "The huntards have complained so much that were going to listen and nerf those things. But we're nerfing hunters too so it's all good"
-
8 AntwortenI have always wondered why people complained about a grenade that doesn't kill you when there are a couple grenades that can get triples and slayers. But it really seems like this nerf is a result of forum complaints and not balance statistics. Not only did they nerf Viking funeral but the arm speed and radius as well....don't let me forget the flame shield either, basically everything that made this class viable is now nerfed because of annoyed players, not disadvantaged players.

9 Antworten"These forums, while not overpowered, still create a lot of frustration and annoyance". Forums removed confirmed.

4 AntwortenIt's not just that OP, but did anyone ever stop to consider that being obnoxious may in fact be OKAY as a design point? Yes, firebolts are aggravating. Thorn is aggravating. The Bubble is aggravating. But what if that's the point? It's difficult to having meaningful variations in gameplay, especially ones that give pause to think for the players. Bungie has been eschewing this with rabid fervor lately - the throwing knife and trip mine nerfs being key examples. Just because something is annoying to play against doesn't mean it shouldn't be a thing. Having stuff in the game that forces people to rethink how they handle an engagement is a GOOD THING. The arcblade changes are another example of this - while I understand their thinking, by making it consume more energy on an empty swing (on top of the recovery hit to Blink) they've effectively destroyed the super at least in PvP by drastically hurting its mobility. It's bad enough that since year 2 began the tracking has been way, WAY off but now you're killing our ability to even get close? I haven't used BD much since year 2 started and now I wonder if I ever will again. Blink Strike, if anything needed a range increase, not a decrease. It wasn't much of a "teleport" to begin with, now all the warlocks will just laugh at us. Then there's the weapon changes.... more nerfs, nevermind buffing the bajllion underperforming weapon perks and mods, or addressing the fact that Doctrine was the only really viable AR archetype and instead of making all ARs good simply once again neutered the only workig option. Somebody needs to get fired.

1 AntwortenI think instead of nerfing they should try to make other classes or weapons more appealing to use.
-
3 AntwortenCan someone explain? Does viking funeral now work similar to sunbreakers melting point?
-
It's been changed because it makes people not want to play the game.
-
Another ignorant moron with no idea how things are done. And your secondary "example" was idiotic.
-
Destiny is now FUBAR based on these recent changes to the game. Wow, what a joke.

What we see and hear are what we go by, something we aren't good at anyway. If anything more is asked of us then it's not going to be any fun because its outside of our limits. Keeping things within our limits will always be a goal of game designers, your surprise shows your ignorance of the process.

7 AntwortenYear 1- felt like a bad ass. Year 2- literally feels like you're playing with a nerf gun
-
What I take from this is "wah they changed the only thing I could go positive with".
-
They did actually slow the fire rate down, or removed full auto, on the 4th horseman. Which meant it was impossible to kill at good range because it had none. I don't know if they're reasoning isn't great or their choice of words but I think these changes are welcome. I see warlock Sunsinger as over powered. Just in the sense that they didn't even have to try hard. Flame shield was a bit stupid in the first place. Sunbreaker was also pretty stupid. I have footage to confirm this, but it was hit far too hard, especially for PVE, so it's nice it's making a come back. Hopefully playing will actually get me back into Sunbreakers.
-
You're on point. It would seem that the reasoning behind these current nerfs are that it's either too popular or frustrating to play against even though it's not OP. Gunslingers, nerf because it's too popular. Tripmines, nerf because it's used as intended but too popular. It's the last grenade on a Gunslingers grenade skill tree. Usually the last ability unlocked tends to be more powerful then the 1st. Common sense there. Bungie nerfs are really starting to resemble RNG
-
Not at all upset by any of the changes made to subclasses and weapons. It's all for the better. Now I don't have to worry about low-risk play styles being super beneficial.

I wrote a post about this in feedback. I don't mind balances backed up by evidence but doing stuff because garbage players get "frustrated" is a really bad way ro go about things. It screams "we cater to the lowest denominator"
