"He struck without warning. Many guardians perished during the arrival of Oryx. Rumors speak that some guardians, most likely "exiled" guardians, were even 'taken' and forced to serve under the will of Oryx. Avenge their deaths, guardian." - Lord Shaxx
Corruption is a game mode for the Crucible for up to 12 players. 2 players are "Taken" and are equipped with Hive swords, and must attempt to slay the other Guardians while they try to survive in the given time. When a Guardian is slain by a Taken, they also become Taken. This game mode is played in 3 rounds total, and each round ends after all players are Taken or the timer runs out. Fans of Halo's Infection mode should be familiar with this.
Player Mechanics
Taken Guardians and the Initiated
Taken Guardians are equipped with a Hive Sword and can only use that, meaning no grenades, no supers, and no other weapons. The only ability the Guardian has is their unique attributes (agility, toughness, recovery) and their jumping ability. Taken Guardians are equipped with Taken armor with no stats (therefore Exotic armor is disabled), and is purely to distinguish themselves from the Guardians.
Because at the beginning of the game it might be more difficult for the 2 initial Taken (the Initiated) to initially slay the other 10 Guardians, the Initiated have additional boosts that lasts the whole round. Only these two have access to the Hive Sword's Shockwave attack, and gain additional armor, recovery, and agility. As a result these Initiated have yellow health bars to distinguish themselves from other Taken.
Survivor Guardians and the Enlightened
Normal Guardians have access to all of their equipment (including exotics), however ammo is more limited (including primary ammo). Only fellow Guardians drop ammo, Taken do not drop ammo. Special ammo boxes still spawn, but Heavy ammo does not.
When only one Guardian remains, they become Enlightened. The Enlightened Guardian automatically gains full Heavy Ammo, full Super energy, and 2x Damage Resistance. This gives the last remaining Guardian a fighting chance and can survive 1 sword slash before dying.
Balancing
With so many factors into play, balancing this may be difficult, especially with Supers. If need by, Supers would be disables and only usable for the Enlightened Guardian. I do wish to focus more on the concept itself rather than addressing balancing issues. This is not meant to be a competitive game mode but rather a casual mode built for Multiplayer. I do think that we need a wide variety of game modes for the Crucible, and the addition of an Infection-esque mode would be cool and fun.
What do you all think?

I think this should definitely be implemented into the game! This idea + custom games = excellence!

1 AntwortenSo pretty much infection

Great idea,I always like those kinds of games in CoD and Halo,it got me thinking What about a Gun Game, just like the CoD ones, but you would need 3 kills with each gun to get the next one,and the guns would be the Exotic ones(say you start with your class exotic weapon and go through the other ones, you could even put some Y1 exotics that people aren't able to get nowadays there, like Ghorn and Mithoclast*) *yes I know you're able to get them from Xur but I personally don't buy them normally, since I'm a PvE player, those Y1 exotics are basically useless to me
-
LOL! I would die to have this mode in the game.
-
I just want capture the flag

-
Tl;dr for anyone: infection from halo
-
I think the game mode you describe is called infection.
-
Yeah ! This is a very cool idea ! Me and my friends like this . What about no health regen ( or very slow ) for the Taken ?
-
So... Infection?

Work on somethings though. •Swords 1-2 Shot and a rocket aimed at guardians blocking with swords deal 25% DMG to Shields in IB. IB is competitive but it doesn't matter Light Level in this game mode. That'd be OP. Need to reduce sword blocking capability. Or give Rockets & Machine Guns huge DMG Buff. •Set time limit. You already made it clear there's be one but come up with specifics. No one wants to play for 15 minutes trying to get 1 person. Set it for 10 Min Max. No overtime, it shouldn't TAKE (That was not intended as pun until I realized How it could Be a joke) long to kill a guardian and end a match. It's be stressful for the last guardian to just run around and doge swords left and right until he dies, and it'd be boring for Taken Guardians to do this for so long. •Make it happen. :) Good idea and a fresh glass infested compared to what we've had so far.

Sooooo.... "Infected" from Halo, basically..
-
So literally Infection, or whatever it was called in Halo.

3 AntwortenTurn on radar for infected and off for guardians. Would probably balance better and add the 'oh shit' factor
-
Sounds fantastic, personally wouldn't play it, not my style of game but I appreciate the time and mechanics. My favourite gamemode is rift....... But I don't play the objective often so.........
-
This is incredible well done
-
Sounds really damn fun, bump.

COD had something like this. But it started out one would be infected. While the first to be picked would be able to use a weapon to infect a second, afterwards they would only be able to use melees. The others would be able to use weapons to try to survive.
-
That would be awesome.
-
Yes, I would definitely take that.
-
I'm all for this idea. To be honest, when I first saw the picture for the April Update, I thought the "Desolate" Armor was a preview for an "Infection"-type game mode.

1 AntwortenI think the Taken guardians should have some type of movement ability though. Like a small evade.

U got my upvote matey
