I know, shocking, right?
Even I was there with you all: "They're too weak! Phantom Bullets!" Yadda Yadda...
Turns out they just have to have high base Range and roll Rifled Barrel. Or Hammerforged+Rangefinder. Although Rifled Barrel+Rangefinder is obviously the most ideal.
I've gotten an Eyasluna this past week, and it rolled:
Truesight IS, Surrounded, Rifled Barrel & Army of One.
It sounds like the worst possible perks ever, am I right or am I right?
But Eyasluna's base range and Stability have made it amazingly great for PvP if and when you roll either Rifled Barrel, Hammerforged or even Reinforced Barrel if you're okay with losing some Stability.
If you could match any of these with Rangefinder, it would get much better. Or worse for your enemies. ;)
Hand Cannons at the moment, however, are short in stock when it comes to these kinds of ranges.
The Omolon Hand Cannons? Completely useless in PvP due to the massively underwhelming Range stat. They won't hit the broadside of a barn past seven yards or so, even with Rifled Barrel they only barely reach Eyasluna's base Range. Other Hand Cannons are slightly better off, but reaching that ~60% Range stat threshold (or even higher if you've got the right rolls,) is where the real fun begins.
I can't begin to tell you guys how happy and also sad this is, for a Destiny player to realize.
On one hand, our favorite archetype is still 100% viable.
On the other, it requires insane luck to get a Hand Cannon worth using.
And as always, some are luckier than others, and some have no luck at all.
I think it's safe to say that the game as it is now, is relatively balanced. The problem is it's balanced to make weapons suck unless you get the ideal roll. Which means we're all stuck on the hamster wheel forever.
For those of you whom are lucky enough to get all the drops you could possibly have wanted, congratulations. You are among the very few who can enjoy this game for what it could have been: A shoot-to-loot'er.
The rest of us will be slaves to what it is: A grind-to-fun/win. Which is a massive RNG stopgap to prevent anyone from having too much fun, evidently. It sucks, but it's completely true. I wish it wasn't the case.
But apparently some of the only reasons you guys play the game is to have a carrot stick dangled in front of you, and not to actually eat said carrot. Shame on you guys for ruining fun.

Good points- Imago loop is also a good hand cannon. I had one drop with rifled barrel, outlaw and hidden hand. Very nice for PVP!

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von UltraNoahXV: 5/28/2016 6:18:33 PMMy eysulunas on my Hunter and Warlock challenge yours. Edit: 1 of them was on my Titan but moved to hunter due to Playing on my Titan Edit two: will be switching eysulnas among characters that aren't playing ib to show

1 AntwortenThe range of hand cannons is something weird TLW sometimes has the range of a scout riffle other times just works face to gace.
-
7 AntwortenEveryone is complaining about handcannons being bad, but the truth is they're using the wrong ones with no good range, aim assist or even perks. The most competitive and reliable handcannons for pvp are the Eyasluna and Finnala, and the best perks to get on them are Rifled Barrel (highest range attainable without sacrificing any stability), Lucky Bullet, and Rangefinder.

3 AntwortenWell said, this weeks IB seems to have a ton of variety in weapons. Hopefully something like reforge will be put back in to deal with the problem of weapon rolls. To those still clinging desperately to their TLW/1kys/HQT crutches I urge you to put down the easy options and mix it up.

2 AntwortenYou know a hand cannon I don't see in the Crucible? Kumakatok HC4. I have one with Truesight IS, LitC, Rifled Barrel and Life Support. Brutally efficient, Rifled Barrel bumps up the Range from 15 to 39. Has a naturally high Stability.

Its hard ebough to get one to drop then u have to get a good roll. This double rng is kilking me. I have been lvling up crucible and vanguard in hopes of getting highfixer or deviluknow. I keep getting random armors and useless crap. The eyasluna hasent dropped for me yet either and when it does it probably will have the most useless perk.
-
I have no problems with handcannons except for when i know it was suppose to be a headshot, and i don't even get numbers. That goes for PvP and PvE.

12 AntwortenYour post contradict itself. You ate claiming that hand cannons are viable on the other hand they only work if you have a specific roll. Sorry but that is not 100% viability. A doctrine with shirt perks is viable because you f the TTK, no god roll or specific perk needed. A hand cannon must have range and target acquisition perk to be viable, this are very specific perks that don't roll together often. There are 5 Handcannons that I know of that you can see regular in PvP. This are Hawkmoon, TLW, Finela's, Ace of spades and Eyasluna. 3 of this are in the high impact archetype and 3 being exotics. Sorry but viability of HC's in PvP is very low and they don't stand a chance in the competitive format.

3 AntwortenEvery weapon still a weapon.... Its the person that use it

Check out my Warlock Eysaluna, so so good!

1 AntwortenThis is exactly as to why hand cannons are broken, because you need a specific roll on a handcannon to barely even make it usable. They should give all hand cannons + 10-20 range only that way will any hand cannon be usable. I do not agree that the only reason a hand cannon should either be kept or dismantled is if it has rifled barrel. Also this greatly lowers weapon diversity a problem Luke smith wanted to fix but he ended up just destroying hand cannons.

Bearbeitet von RavenousLD3341: 5/27/2016 12:59:06 PMI've got a pretty nice Her Revenge on my warlock. It's competitive for sure. It's accurate enough to hit the long range shots due to it's roll, but also fires fast enough (81 Impact/ 22 RoF) to panic spray someone down. Good capacity as well. I used it in IB last night. It's a good gun.

Your just good. The majority of the player base thinks they are weak so their opinion as a whole out weighs yours

1 AntwortenI have two eyaslunas that have better stats than hawkmoon. Just, y'know, minus the LITC rounds.

3 AntwortenBearbeitet von WitlessDragoon: 5/26/2016 7:05:00 AMI love hand canons....but if an entire weapon class relies on the specific perks rangefinder and/or Rifled barrel to be useful...than there is a problem...hope they fix this...
-
1 AntwortenSo what you're saying is that because one archetype isn't bad, none of them are bad?
-
2 AntwortenI can't use them unless it has the range + accuracy perk :) potato aim with them otherwise.
-
So all you need to make the -blam!-ing thing work is there best possible perk roll. What fun! Nothing like every other weapon in a class suffering because people will call a weapon OP if it's got a specific perk combination.
-
1 AntwortenMy lord high fixer has rangefinder reinforced barrel and hidden hand and I love it
-
3 AntwortenTLW is underpowered from 30 feet and out or a better word inconsistent and it shouldn't be
-
I rolled a nice Eyasluna. On mine I use Quickdraw IS, Outlaw, Smallbore, and Luck In The Chamber.

The only ranged perk my judith-D has is handloaded and it does great. You will definitely want to get a reload perk on the gun though. With crowd control active you will be hurting if you find me looking your way ^^
