I'll start by saying I have no issues with people starting twitch channels and streams to promote themselves and exhibit their skills. But why in the hell would anyone in their right mind donate money to some stranger to play a game they themselves can play? It completely baffles me. I can't even begin to understand it. These people might as well be on TSN or E! Tonight for their apparent fame. We pay money to go see movies and sports, why not give people money to play video games, and 15 minutes on the tube? Frankly it's disgusting, and I'm ashamed of anyone for condoning and endorsing this bullshit. You don't give money to bums on the street, do you? What makes some jackass sitting in the comfort of his own home playing the same game as you are more deserving of your money? Use your fucking heads.
Don't give money to bums! Buy yourself a bottle of vodka, or a new headset. That's all they're going to do with it.
Call me salty, but don't call me late for dinner.
I suppose it's easier to pander for cash on a gaming forum or streetcorner than it is to get a job, or a degree, or whatever...

2 AntwortenWhat idiot thought this belonged in #offtopic when there is #gaming?

Twitch is cancer. There's a reason they named it "twitch"
-
2 AntwortenIt's the same thing as waiters at a restaurant. You enjoy and appreciate their service, so you tip them
-
It's like having a sponsor. You give them money, they thank you for your support and you get the advantages, if there are any, of donating.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Flewhid: 5/2/2016 4:51:10 PMWhy pay to see someone play a sport when you can play it yourself?

I have only donated to streamers that are genuinely entertaining, not just sitting silent with a face cam and royalty free EDM music while you can hear their mouse clicks while playing League of Legends. I like streamers that constantly commentate and are funny.
-
People watch a streamer because they enjoy either their personality or style of gameplay or the consistency at which they produce content, they tip because they understand that in order for this content to be produced, the streamer needs to be able to support themselves, simple as that. It's basic supply and demand

10 AntwortenI don't understand why anyone would waste time even watching someone stream a game when they could play it themselves....let alone donating money to them.

It's pure stupidity.

27 AntwortenAnyone who has the money to set up a high quality twitch channel has enough money or just aren't responsible with it. Either way they don't need money.
-
We enjoy the stream, and genuinely like the content creator/streamer, and sometimes know them on a personal level...

1 AntwortenWhy did the ninjas move this post here. It's about games. Also we don't want people who just insult people here, we have enough already.
-
Honestly twitch streaming is like a strip club. You could just watch or you could support them and ask them for favors.

5 AntwortenYou think streaming and posting videos on YouTube are easy? You think you can do what they do? They're not just simply playing games. They are entertaining their viewers. Donating makes sure they stay "on air" and keeping people entertained. It's not easy editing videos and/or coming up with fresh new shit to keep people entertained. If you're not being entertained then don't pay shit and move on. Do you go to theaters and pay to watch a movie you know you won't like? You ever paid money to watch movies? Same concept here. We can all play dress up and do what the actors do, so why pay money and go to theaters to watch their movies? And you dare tell us to use our -blam!-ing brains? Use your -blam!-ing brain and think for once.... Oh never mind, that might be impossible for you to do. I am truly starting to wonder how rare common sense truly is for people like you. It must be hard not having common sense, despite of it being so damn common that many children in Africa dying from hunger might have more common sense than you....

Twitch I'm not very understanding of, but Youtube I can see. After editing about a 5 minute video for school I now have major respect for people who upload edited footage twice or once a day.
-
1 Antworten1), Their money, their choice to do with it what they will. 2), Sometimes you throw a guy a tip because he did something that you enjoyed. Maybe a joke made you laugh enough to forget a bad day, or they did something cool that made your jaw drop, or whatever.
-
Yeah, guys. Let's judge how others spend their money! Great job!
-
5 AntwortenPeople are comparing it to going to watch a football game lol. You HAVE to pay for that, you don't have to donate shit.
-
2 AntwortenIt's entertainment, that's all it is. People like the content others create for their enjoyment, and they appreciate it enough to offer money, whether that be the gameplay they showcase and/or the commentary. It's not rocket science buddy. So get your head out of your ass and stop worrying about what others put their own money into.
-
Maybe because they like their content and they wanna give back in the only way they know how. And I mean it's not like most streamers ask or demand donations. I'm sure there are some who do that, but most don't. People appreciate what they do. Streamers do things that make people happy so people like to show gratitude through donations.
-
5 AntwortenWho the -blam!- are you to decide what other people do with their money? Liberal scum
-
It entertainment, people enjoy watching them and would like to continue to watch them as they enjoy the entertainment so they donate to support the streamer so that they can continue to stream and entertain there followers. What you need to realize is that twitch streaming for some is there full time job, they do not play just because they like to, I am also certain there is days they do not even want to stream but they do because it is there source of income.
-
It's entertainment, some people feel like the people that entertain them should be compensated for their work. That's really all there is to it.
