Something You May Not Realize...

Destiny is a progression type of game from level 1-40. Then there is some end game. Then you do Kings Fall/CoE. That'll net you a few hours of gameplay. Then all that's left is the Crucible, right? What if I told you that Destiny, as a game, is designed from the ground up to do nothing more than get you ready for end game Crucible matches? Think about it, why else have level enabled PvP game modes? Why else make PvP nerfs match PvE nerfs? The game is designed to be nothing more than another multiplayer shooter, with a few more hoops to jump through than others. In other words, my experience of this game has led me to believe that the developers have designed this game to push you through a bit of PvE for the sake of claiming a "story" type of deal but then once you get to the end all that's left to do is grind for levels. But for what? What is the point of grinding for gear/weapons if not to get yourself ready for PvP? Once you finish Kings Fall, CoE, and the story there is no point to leveling yourself further unless it's for the sake of PvP. Imagine this game without PvP with the current content. No one would play. Their numbers would plummet. Destiny would not survive. There isnt nearly enough end game content in this game to make the leveling grind worth it, not for most anyway. I personally only level myself for the sake of PvP. Now again, this is just my experience. But it seems plausible to me considering how much attention they give to PvP, even at the expense of PvE. Honestly, I hate it. I wish they would just keep the two separate, but if this is their goal(to push people to PvP) then they won't change it. Because Bungie is only interested in Bungie's vision of the game, the consumer be damned.

 • Respectable feedback. The views expressed have some well thought processes with them. Most businesses behind developing a video game are of course in it because it's a business. AND there are tons of developers out there that do it also because they absolutely love making games, and love gamers enjoying those games. There are for sure, developers at Bungie who fit that description. They exist. What a lot of people are also not aware of is this. The following does not come across to me as people who are about the gaming business when they test people like lab rats on bottles of opiate laced water. The following exudes "shadiness" and "scheming". http://www.geek.com/games/how-bungie-devilishly-trapped-its-players-in-destiny-1619668/
Three years before Destiny released, Bungie had test groups regularly playing game builds and documenting almost every response elicited during gameplay. The developer split players up into five categories: short and long campaigners, short and long omnivores, and specialists. Campaigners would play the campaign, omnivores would partake in activities from every category — PvE, PvP, and anything else — and specialists would focus on one specific activity. Wanting players to get the most out of its game, Bungie focused on the omnivores. Bungie employed eye-tracking technology to document where players looked, they recorded what players said — explicit or otherwise — and gave players a button to press when they felt something in the game worked. So, while Bungie employs dastardly tricks like time-gating the game’s most fun content or requiring a slog of a faction reputation grind, the developer’s real trick is it psychoanalyzed — and recorded — players to find out what works best.
