So I've been a hunter since y1 I have played every subclass and mastered them. I currently main a golden gun because of how much fun it is. I do however use blade once in a while. I no longer use Nightstalker in crucible I use that class strictly for pve to make orbs. The Nightstalker class is broken right now. It is the second best class in the game apart from sunsingers. It needs some balancing. I will describe in detail what is broken about it, how to fix it and why I no longer play Nightstalker in crucible.
Why is Nightstalker broken?
The thing that is broken or "op" as many of you may be more familiar with is the shadestep and the smoke.
Shadestep is beyond broken especially if you are playing someone who sweats or is actually good with the class. You may run into the causal player who uses it and does bad with it. Those who can actually use it (regardless of scuff controller) can not only annoy but use the maneuver to get away with a lot of things they shouldn't. That ability to spam shadestep and dodge any grenade is broken. Every class has a grenade that should be effective to other guardians no exception. Also while in shadestep you usually don't take damage and confuse the shit out of everyone around you. The ability to be immune is horrible and you can spam it 2 times in a row without a cool down. Also after shadestep you can almost immediately jump or shoot your weapon and this can be a pain in the rear, especially if you were really trying to kill the person and they suddenly pop up out of no where and turn on you. It takes no skill.
Smoke is broken the range of that melee is beyond any grenade in the hunters arsenal. It's funny that smoke is a melee too it should honesty rather be a grenade. It can attach to you and do damage then after it does damage over time and blinds you. And if the person is shadesteping around you while u are in smoke, you can begin to tap the respawn button because you will die. The range in smoke is too far also, there has been many instances where I am out of the smoke yer somehow still in it. It is ridiculous how far the smoke extends. Also it should it should not deal that much damage to you. It's pretty much a super/grenade you can regenerate every 29 seconds.
Ideas on how to fix them
I will start off by saying buff the super cause tether is garbage in the crucible but I won't go into detal
To balance shadestep It is simple add a longer cool down after every shadestep. That way you can't spam it and you actually have to time it right. It is not a jump like blink u shouldn't be allowed to use it 2 times per cool down. Also remove the immunity from grenades. A grenade should deal damage to you no matter what whether it be an arcbolt or an axion. Also maybe add some frames after the shadestep that way people can't jump or shoot right after just like you did to blink.
To balance smoke it is also simple remove the damage over time from it and shorten the area of effect. The smoke will still deal impact if you are stuck with it and maybe buff the damage a bit but after it should not do DOT. It don't mind if I'm blind in it or w.e..
Why I don't play Nightstalker in the crucible
Apart from everyone wanting to use that crutch class in a "sweaty" (only 1 subclass per teammate allowed) it is not fun. When I played shade I literally got massive amounts of hate mail during pubs. I had never gotten so much rage. When I played shade I thought I was one of the best players in my friends list. I though I was unstoppable. Then I switched to a different subclass and I didn't do so hot. I did good just not amazing. Then I began to see how much of a broken piece of shit Nightstalker really was. After every shadestep and wombo I no longer felt satisfied and actual felt like a chump. So I decided to quit that class and never some back just like I did with sunsinger.
Feel free to comment below. If you need a trials carry/help/just want to play crucible feel free to add me.

2 AntwortenOP is not very good at crucible based on this post.
-
I just made a video about a buff on hunters lol
-
.....Just want to point out that you cant dodge every grenade. Lightning greandes.
-
3 Antwortennoooooo I like it. Just recently switched over from bladedancer, it's fun.
Blah blah blah....I'm trying to sound smart and reasonable, so I'm going to write a long post to cover up the fact that I'm just whining and want things nerfed to further ruin the pve side of the game. I fixed it for you. Will people like you please leave the game? You're the reason that a storm caller can't even kill a major captain in one super.
Solution? Make shadestep first person. Good luck anticipating where you're going ;)
i would be so hype for that change
1 AntwortenBearbeitet von What I Look Like: 4/28/2016 9:39:08 PMIf you mastered anything you'd know you can't spam shadestep, for starters. You get 2, then there's a cooldown. Dodging grenades? Yeah, because I manage to pull that off every time. It isn't our fault the grenades we dodge take no skill to use. In a game where precision is a MUST, things like fusion grenades, skip grenades, and axion grenades should only be used if you can't actually, tactically use a grenade to proper effect. Everyone thinks "oh, grenades are supposed to be powerful and get kills so I may as well choose the one I have to try least with" apparently. How many times have you seen shadestep to dodge lightning grenades, for example? If that happens it's because the Hunter gets out by the skin of his teeth lmao, with a sliver of health. Also, addressing the wombo combo.. it's like.. if someone literally wants to use a melee AND grenade charge to attempt to kill you, let them! They're the idiots. I use invis, a fusion rifle, shadestep, and either Hawkmoon or a good PR. Never get hate mail as a Nightstalker. BD is far more broken, both for better and worse. Backstab activating at the front is actually broken, and the melee detection issue plaguing this entire game renders the specific super almost entirely useless. Between all that, and using quickdraw + blink + shotgun, you've got the real culprit. Edit - all I know is if these Crucible babies get this extremely amazing class nerfed it will be a huge upset. Think of PvE, people. Yall are really tripping. Reduce the time on smoke? You don't like that invis revive in heroic strikes?? Nerf shadestep because use it 2 times and the opponent apparently gets a massive migraine from confusion? I like to dodge sniper shots in PvE, let's not take that away because some people can't keep up.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Itz Wowzer: 4/30/2016 9:10:55 AMYou know you can also slide, and blink out of some grenades too?.. You just have to learn how to avoid them, shadestep is one such thing. I play a hunter aswell and I play nightstalker.. I use to use blade but I got tired of being shortstopped 24/7 so I just swapped. And I'm not gonna lie that smoke bomb does work, but if you get caught in a wombo combo, learn to jump. And actually you have to have pretty good placement and pretty much have it land right at their feet for it to kill them. The reason it's so good is because it has possibly one if the best neutral game of all subclasses, besides sunsingers.. That's why I use it, I'd rather be able to shut down supers and avoid grenades than be a aggressive super. Just my opinion tho.

1 AntwortenSmoke only effects you at range if you were close enough to the detonation first and the only thing about shadestep that needs to be changed is the smoke effect that hides where the player is
-
1 AntwortenThis is the NERF police. By balance you mean NERF, right? I would endorse that.

5 AntwortenTether should suppress instantly on direct hit or do far more damage when not using quiver It should not whip around the screen of those it grabs nearly as hard as it does (less disorienting to those it grabs) Smoke should have one of the following changes: -blinds the target less -doesn't remove the radar -slows movement speed less -less range -less duration Remove the spike grenade or vortex grenade and add suppressor. Shadestep should have one of the following changes: -longer cool down -shorter distance -slower animation -longer equip time afterwards

17 AntwortenBearbeitet von Blooddrunk123: 4/28/2016 8:09:53 AMIn my opinion, the changes I would make would be. 1. Grenades and smoke need to have a small delay between throwing them. Im not saying a 3 second long delay, at least the same delay one would have trying to spam two grenades at once. 2. Shadstep needs a slightly longer cool down. Its extremely spammable in its current state. You should not be able to shadestep, shadestep, double jump, shadestep, double jump, shadestep. Such a useful ability should be timed well and not spammed. If not a cooldown increase, at least slow down the ready time. 3. Keen Scout should only work when a player is damaged, not glanced over with a sniper scope. 4. Probably controversial this one but I personally dont think Quiver should allow players to tether enemies. It is built to be a support super, right now 90% of players seem to use Quiver since it is the best option. I'd be happy to extend the duration of Quiver if this change was applied.
-
I dont think wombo combo is OP, but you should have at least your radar inside the smoke. Shadestep on the other hand is the most broken mechanic Bungo ever made.
-
9 AntwortenI think the actual shot is OP. Use your super and get tethered? POOF, SUPER IS COMPLETELY GONE. All that waiting and it's gone, not even a little of the progress is saved. I believe they should at least make it so half, or a quarter, of the remaining super progress is left when tethered.

35 AntwortenAdd a 2 second cool down to shadestep to prevent it from becoming an instant redo button Increase tracking on arrows slightly. To make it easier to aim Decrease time between arrow impact and black hole appearance. Done
-
1 AntwortenThe perfect nerf would be to remove hunters from destiny and give them there own spin off game.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Camnew: 4/28/2016 4:20:19 PMThe arguments you made for shadestep are the same arguments you can make for blink. Both can be used twice before a cool down. Also, you exaggerate how confusing and powerful it is. When you're in the animation you can still take damage; in fact, you're quite vulnerable if the enemy knows where you are. Smoke is a key aspect of Nightstalker. It slows you down, obscures the screen, and gives a few ticks of damage for about 5 seconds. However, the main aspect is slowness. It's a decent ability when combined with overwhelm tactics or a grenade. On its own, however, slowness and a little damage isn't all that spectacular.
-
1.Reduce Radius of Smoke 2.Either Shorten the duration or Decrease Envenomed Tick damage
-
Quiver should have increase damage but cannot cancel supers. Shadestep should have end lag between each use Increase aim assist if aiming at a shadestep(er)
-
"shadestep is broken if you're playing against someone whose mastered it" I stopped reading it right there. stupidly enough, you just disproved yourself admitting that it takes a skilled hand to master shadestep and anyone using it effectively is skilled lol. nice try tho. shadestep will never be broken. you have to be smart to move and counter with it. nice try tho. it's now just a reaction to some people. sorry you have the reaction time of a snail.
-
Smoke is OP but the rest is fine.
-
2 AntwortenNight stalker is fine just the way it is as are all classes (except blade dancers melee hit detection)
-
After seeing your replies to other posts, and some that you have made, it seems that you think everything in the game is OP. You are one of the reasons that everything gets nerfed. You are toxic to this game. Muted.
To balance shadestep It is simple add a longer cool down after every shadestep. That way you can't spam it and you actually have to time it right. Anyone who gets really skilled with a certain ability can make it seem EXTREMELY OP. Take Titan skating for example, not many people know how to use it well but those who do can get out of situations where anyone else would have died. I do agree that the canceling tracking should not be allowed.
-
Lol so because a person masters a class and learns how to use its abilities its op? You contradicted yourself in the first paragraph of your forum essay. You get an F

I think the biggest issue is the shade step glitch/exploit. It allows two immediate rolls just by pulling out your ghost and then mashing b, b again. If you are playing against someone who is good at doing the glitch/exploit then countering them is near impossible in some cases. I don't feel like any one class should have an evade of that nature that can completely decimate any other subclass. Simply make is so a ghost can't be pulled during a shade step. Easy fix. Now onto the smoke. My thought is add a delay similar to throwing two grenades that where there is a .5 second to 1 second "cool down" before the other can be deployed. Maybe they should also rework the perk that allows for those abilities to be extended when in use. I shouldn't be held in smoke which is technically a melee for near as long as I am. Compared to other subclasses melee that do dot it is crazy at how long smoke lasts. I don't won't to see the class broken just balanced a small bit. Equally because people are also complaining about Viking funeral and touch of flame, I don't won't to see that class broken either. That combo has been in the game since day one and people have just recently started to complain about it. Not because it is op but because Bungie has hit everything else so hard that it gives it the illusion that it's op. Now my suggestion to fixing it and not breaking it would be to keep the damage it deals (maybe a 1 or 2 point decrease to damage dealt) but decrease the damage over time so if you're hit by one you can get away and start recovery quicker.
