So I've been a hunter since y1 I have played every subclass and mastered them. I currently main a golden gun because of how much fun it is. I do however use blade once in a while. I no longer use Nightstalker in crucible I use that class strictly for pve to make orbs. The Nightstalker class is broken right now. It is the second best class in the game apart from sunsingers. It needs some balancing. I will describe in detail what is broken about it, how to fix it and why I no longer play Nightstalker in crucible.
Why is Nightstalker broken?
The thing that is broken or "op" as many of you may be more familiar with is the shadestep and the smoke.
Shadestep is beyond broken especially if you are playing someone who sweats or is actually good with the class. You may run into the causal player who uses it and does bad with it. Those who can actually use it (regardless of scuff controller) can not only annoy but use the maneuver to get away with a lot of things they shouldn't. That ability to spam shadestep and dodge any grenade is broken. Every class has a grenade that should be effective to other guardians no exception. Also while in shadestep you usually don't take damage and confuse the shit out of everyone around you. The ability to be immune is horrible and you can spam it 2 times in a row without a cool down. Also after shadestep you can almost immediately jump or shoot your weapon and this can be a pain in the rear, especially if you were really trying to kill the person and they suddenly pop up out of no where and turn on you. It takes no skill.
Smoke is broken the range of that melee is beyond any grenade in the hunters arsenal. It's funny that smoke is a melee too it should honesty rather be a grenade. It can attach to you and do damage then after it does damage over time and blinds you. And if the person is shadesteping around you while u are in smoke, you can begin to tap the respawn button because you will die. The range in smoke is too far also, there has been many instances where I am out of the smoke yer somehow still in it. It is ridiculous how far the smoke extends. Also it should it should not deal that much damage to you. It's pretty much a super/grenade you can regenerate every 29 seconds.
Ideas on how to fix them
I will start off by saying buff the super cause tether is garbage in the crucible but I won't go into detal
To balance shadestep It is simple add a longer cool down after every shadestep. That way you can't spam it and you actually have to time it right. It is not a jump like blink u shouldn't be allowed to use it 2 times per cool down. Also remove the immunity from grenades. A grenade should deal damage to you no matter what whether it be an arcbolt or an axion. Also maybe add some frames after the shadestep that way people can't jump or shoot right after just like you did to blink.
To balance smoke it is also simple remove the damage over time from it and shorten the area of effect. The smoke will still deal impact if you are stuck with it and maybe buff the damage a bit but after it should not do DOT. It don't mind if I'm blind in it or w.e..
Why I don't play Nightstalker in the crucible
Apart from everyone wanting to use that crutch class in a "sweaty" (only 1 subclass per teammate allowed) it is not fun. When I played shade I literally got massive amounts of hate mail during pubs. I had never gotten so much rage. When I played shade I thought I was one of the best players in my friends list. I though I was unstoppable. Then I switched to a different subclass and I didn't do so hot. I did good just not amazing. Then I began to see how much of a broken piece of shit Nightstalker really was. After every shadestep and wombo I no longer felt satisfied and actual felt like a chump. So I decided to quit that class and never some back just like I did with sunsinger.
Feel free to comment below. If you need a trials carry/help/just want to play crucible feel free to add me.

2 AntwortenAnd that's why I refuse to follow meta and use what I like to use... gunslinger with Universal remote and sidearm/fusion or hard light/Paleocontact with next big thing/plan c.
-
1 AntwortenThey should get an exotic that adds/increases the invulnerability period of shadestep.
-
9 AntwortenThere is no invincibly period in shadestep and smoke is not OP at all, just don't run in it idiot
-
4 AntwortenI disagree with you on the bow. With quiver it's literally an improved golden gun which is bs.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Oryx's Slimy Worm: 4/30/2016 11:43:28 PMThere fine. Tether takes time to travel and it takes time to actually deploy tether. THEN it suppresses If you're killed by Wombo Combo, it's your fault. Shadestep is not broken, it has a cool down and you can still be damaged by it, it's just harder. You have to be on the ground to use it. Most the talents in the tree are based around the super, few things don't. Your fault that you did worse while in another subclass But I'm a hunter, so why does my opinion matter
call me a Huntard, because a own hunter saying Nightstalker, a SUPPORT class is OP, isn't a true Hunter
If shade step gave only 1 charge before the cool down it would help a lot. As a person who has been running Hunter since beta there is nothing alright with a class that can purposely put itself into a bad situation and just shadestep out of it.

Bearbeitet von KannibalKlown: 5/2/2016 1:11:13 PMShadestep was broken, when people were glitching out if it early. With that fixed, it's not bad. I rarely use it unless I'm getting pummeled and then usually just once.... RARELY a second one. As I've said elsewhere, I've survived the Wombo Combo plenty of times. Just remain calm and know the terrain and you can get out. What's funny is watching people panic... I've hit snipers with a regular void pulse grenade and they had no clue how to get out of it (no smoke involved) and ran in a circle and died. These are the same people dying with the smoke thrown in. I do best in PvP with my Nightstalker... but for me the greatest asset is the radar. It's easy to known who is where with the high resolution. The marking of the target is just icing on the cake. With 3rd eye it's just awesome.

So, a hunter made this?
-
Only issue I have with nightstalker is how shadestep takes no damage from stormcaller Lightning while in super. A passive ability should not negate a super that's just stupid.
-
Give shadestep that .5 seconds before you can draw your weapon like blink
-
4 AntwortenNightstalkers are fine. Nerf firebolts a tad, hit detention on arc blade / fix frontstab, and maybe an ever so slight buff to Hammer to be a bit more viable but not too OPd.

6 AntwortenWhat are you smoking?
-
1 AntwortenPlease nerf wombo combo
-
2 AntwortenYou can literally shoot at the smoke of someone shadestepping and you can deal damage to them. It's not that hard.
-
2 AntwortenI use nightstalker most of the time, and you can most definitely take damage in shadestep. I have never once been immune during it.
-
1 AntwortenAgree with everything you say
-
1 AntwortenIts not op at all you're the people they call huntards
-
1 AntwortenI still can't throw my smoke and nade at the same time. What the -blam!-. I can't wombo combo shit. I used to be able to. Now it just does not want to work
-
1 AntwortenI always take damage in shadestep and so does all the hunters i have killed while they shadestep away and nightstalkers dont need anything tether disables any super in motion even nova bomb (doing it to nova bomb is so damn funny and lucky)

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von What I Look Like: 5/1/2016 8:49:32 AMRead this again.. got a migraine lmao. Like, I wish my beloved Graviton Forfeit would let me escape any grenade. I really hate lightning grenades, but they're just so badass. You're referring to the dodging of tracking grenades. When you use shadestep you are techincally invis, grenades cease tracking you. Get gud, with grenades that require thought before throw.

1 AntwortenYear 1??? With 15 days...

2 AntwortenTo be perfectly honest. Nightstalkers don't really need a nerfing. They're perfectly fine the way they are. Wombo combo and all. The only complaint that I've ever had with shadestep is that some people seem to be able to shotgun mid shadestep and that can get very annoying when it's all you run into but other than that the c/d rate for Shadestep is fine the way it is. If anything Nighstalkers need a buff. Make the tether effect instant upon impact and make quiver more powerful. If I can't drop a self res in one shot with it then theres something wrong.
-
3 AntwortenShadestep is fine. You do realise you can shoot people who are in shadestep? Wombocombo is a little strong, but only because of smokes. They should reduce the movement speed penalty imo Tether needs fixing. The amount of times that I tether a sunbreaker, the tether deploys, and I still get a Hammer in the face is ridiculous. They need to make tether activate immediately after contact.

12 Antworten1. Shadestep doesn't have an immunity period, and it has a cooldown after you use it twice 2. Wombo-combo is perfectly fine IMO. It's very easy to mess up when you use grenade and smoke together, and most of the times I survive because I'm a Titan 3. I don't see Shadestep being spammed in the Crucible and I've never seen anyone rage because of Shadestep or Smoke. Only skilled players can use those abilities effectively and that's because they have skill. Sincerely Robin The Goblin

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von Mooooooose: 4/28/2016 2:53:47 PMFor a supposed "master" of the class, your knowledge of it is woefully lacking. 1) There are zero immunity frames on shade step. 2) Wombo is strong because you're using two cool downs. It should be powerful. 3) Tether is not garbage in the crucible. Time to tether and deactivate supers is too long. It should be instant. It's actually quite easy to get Wild Hunt medals if you pop it at the right time. 3) a. You can't say, "This is horrible, but I won't explain why." Your opinion holds no weight without evidence or reasoning. 4) Smoke only does damage if you spec for it. 5) You can only use shade step twice in short succession before it goes on cooldown, just like blink. 5) a. You can also tell which direction they're rolling if you look closely. Shot gunning a hunter as they come out of shade step is easy. Your entire post is based on going against someone who has mastered the class. If you're facing someone who is better than you are, someone who has devoted hundreds more hours than you have in becoming better at this game, you're going to lose. Deal with it. Classes are tools. The player uses the tool to get the job done. If you get beaten, it's because the other player did it. Not the class. TL;DR: your post is bad, you're bad, and you should feel bad. Git gud.

2 AntwortenOP is not very good at crucible based on this post.
