Edit: To those that asked and bumped, I have pm'ed you the story. So at the end of last school year, I started talking to this girl. Let's call her Elise, but that's not her name. Anyways, I had known Elise for a long time, and we shared a birthday. She was really nice, enjoyable, and pretty hot. I was starting to get "the feels", but the year ended pretty quickly. The next year, I started with her in all my classes in my first trimester, and she was also in my advisory. I basically saw her all day. We were just friendly before, but by the end of the first trimester, we were really close. I had been "adopted" into her circle of friends, but it was more of me simply becoming friends with most of her friends. I pretty effectively secured myself to the group. After the first trimester had ended, three things happened. First, at the only school dance that trimester, we danced with each other a lot. The second was that on our (like I said before, we share a birthday) birthday, we both gave each other the same gift, and three, my grandfather died, and when I left a day before winter break, we both said goodbye, and she gave me a hug. Is that a big deal? No. But the point is that we were really close. We weren't together for any classes the third trimester, and I guess we grew a bit apart, but we still talked a lot. Half way through the second trimester, I made the first move, and possibly the first mistake. I asked if she wanted to hang out some time, just as friends. I'd figure if we did, I might be able to move it on from there, or alternatively, to find out if she liked me or not. As soon as I asked her, my phone blew up. A ton of people started texting me, one or two saying stuff like how Elise only thinks of me as a friend, and others saying I should go for it. The people texting me were all my friends, so I texted each back individually. After a little bit of talking and bonding with those texters, I turned off my phone and went to sleep. The "date" (not quite a date, but whatever) went great. We went out, got food, went to a Sunday market, walked around, and before I knew it, it was over. We said our goodbyes, and she drove off. Then everything went to shit. She ghosted me for ~6 weeks, not really avoiding me but not talking to me. Since we shared the same circle of friends, and our lockers were really close, I saw her a lot. It kinda hurt, really. Finally, she started easing back into it. We were acquaintances, friendly, and then just friends. During that entire period, I felt terrible because I felt that I had put her in an awkward situation, and an unpleasant one. Then came our third trimester. I decided that the best course of action was to be friends. She didn't seem to feel the same way that I did, and I realized that I didn't want to lose her as a friend, so I just decided to be friends. Then, stuff started coming up. Rumors, and whispers. I am painfully aware that I'm just a friend, and however close of a friend I may be, but the point is this. Every moment I spend with you is heart lifting and intensely thrilling, and I just wish I could have said it sooner. Hopefully, this doesn't make stuff weird between us, but I totally understand why it might. I wasn't even worried at that point, just resigned. However it ended, it was only fair. But she did answer, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. She was shocked, and apparently a little flattered, but she didn't like me back. Now we're just friends, and we're going to be like that forever. That's my story. Is it perfect? No. But it's mine.
