Bungie has made Eververse into something we were promised it wouldn't be. With each update in year 2 eververse has taken a step in the direction of pay to win. Seems no one supports this action so join with me and sign here and demand on the forums that it is removed!

So no, this armor that I am now wearing to play all the new content is not, in fact, cosmetic. This is real gear with actual, useful talents that is able to be infused to max level. Saying it’s a vanity item is like selling someone a “perfectly safe” unloaded gun, when you can see them holding a box of bullets in their hand.
From a Forbes article. Excellent analogy.
***EDIT***
Lets clean this up a bit!
It seems lots of people think the only way to "win" in this game is to be level 335. The majority of people that play this game are interested in getting the current cool loot. (It's a looter shooter after all) The previously mentioned "cool loot" can now be purchased in a gambling fashion instead of being eared. Don't take "pay to win" so literally people!
SHOUT OUT TO ALL THE GUARDIANS THAT KEEP IT REAL AND DON'T LET THE BUNGIE APOLOGISTS RUN WILD
People want DLC that is based around content rather than more micro-transactions!

3 AntwortenSterling Treasure is not pay to win. If you bought 1 sterling treasure trying to get a god roll chances are, you will NEVER get that god roll. If you bought 100 sterling treasure's trying to get a god roll chances are, you will NEVER get that god roll. RNG in this game nullifies any pay to win sterling treasures. Plus, these micro transactions are to fund the future development of this game, like the update we just got now. You don't have to buy the emote everyone has. They paid their money, while you could sit back and get everything for free eventually.

2 AntwortenBut the stuff you purchase gives you no advantage over anyone or anything in the game whatsoever, so at the end of the day it doesn't really make a difference and it's all cosmetic. It's like saying emotes are pay to win.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von More Cowbell: 4/16/2016 1:25:29 AMThe Spring update looks like a cash grab presumably to fund the development of Destiny 2. I predict the fall update will further expand the role of Eververse with a couple weapons for sale (as a test). It is the logical next step in the pay to win progression.

1 AntwortenAside from the obvious moral issues that pay 2 win teaches (the real world works like this, believe it or not!) Eververse, while potentially being a good thing for both bungie and its players, is something that I feel has yet to meet that potential, mainly due to a limit on inventory and variety. When you look into a cash shop for other games, you find PAGES of stuff. Games like MapleStory that have practically written the book on micro transactions, and in it, you can find just about every single item that the game has ever offered for players to buy. In it you have have a wide variety of things, from cosmetics to in game enhancements. And almost all of it is on display in a well organized format. Compared to destiny, where you get one page of stuff, with most of the older items being cycled out as "random packages". Bungie needs to expand its wares and focus on giving the players what they want with their money. How many players looked at the random sparrow box before opening it and said "I can't wait to get this sparrow that I want!"? None probably, because ultimately, bungie was only selling a chance for a player to get an item that they want, they were relying on a players hope and expectations to be defeated and repeated in a process that they believed would ultimately earn them more money. Now? What if instead of a random sparrow, bungie gave players to buy the items they wanted directly? Certainly bungie might lose out on the potential for income via their slot machine (let's face it, that's what eververse has become) but instead, bungie could gain so much more from the players that they chased away with their slot machine by instead having the items directly for sale. The actual difference in sales probably wouldn't be that different (this is just theory and speculation of course) as the players who want to collect all that eververse has to offer will probably spend exactly the same, while the people that only wanted a set of this or a sparrow of a certain color or a few emotes would have the satisfaction seeing and receiving exactly what they payed for, which is a much better experience for a player. Taking the whole eververse thing out of context and comparing it to a restaurant or a fast food place can provide an example of how some players might feel dissatisfied with what is being offered. For example, someone goes up to a fast food place and orders an item off the menu, of course for this example there is only one item, a mystery box that could contain any item from the regular menu, from a double cheeseburger to a salad. Now when the person gets this item, that they paid for before hand, they open it and find that it is indeed a hamburger, and all should be right with the world right? WRONG! The person who placed the order is in fact a vegetarian! This hamburger is completely useless to them! Now, tell me, would this person want to buy another box in hope of getting the salad? Or would they be more inclined to never bother with such an asinine system that in no way can assure someone that the money they spent will be of use to them? Of course this whole mess could of been avoided if the restaurant in question had a normal menu in the first place. Like every other restaurant.

1 AntwortenNah, not gonna happen. Right now she dosent sell anything that gives one player that pays advantage over someone that dosent pay. Everyone can get the new armor sets, it will just take time, others dont want to wait and pay money to have the full set now... so whats the big deal?

Signed, they should have kept it at emotes.

Signed
sign the -blam!- out of it such a scam
Yup. Especially since it is going to be nearly impossible to get a full set of desolate armor for one class unless you shell out $20

1 AntwortenHow is it pay to win there not selling weapons no super special armor other then looks I bought a slow clap emote my slow clap will get me to rank 335

1 AntwortenSigned. The problem with micro transactions and Destiny is they take away any motivation for Bungie to actually create new content. This year we are getting 1 mission, 1 strike and POE for the entire year for pve. Not to mention it's only the same areas run back wards. That's it. That is all we will get. By purchasing silver we are telling Bungie's Sr Management and investors that we will in fact throw money at the screen for a golf clap. I'm just speculating but I believe Bungie has a much higher profit margin with these events and micro transactions then they could ever hope to have with DLCs. So why would Bungie spend money on employees and resources to produce new content if the cash keeps flowing in?
