April Update = The Dark Below

Welp. Six months and we got Dark Below 2.0. Actually, no, wait, we got Dark Below 0.5. But oh, since it's free I can't complain about it, right? No. Just because it's free, it doesn't mean it deserves no criticism. Imagine if they charged you 40 bucks for this update. They've done it before with Dark Below. Hey, everyone remember how TDB was a 40-dollar "expansion" that only had six missions, two strikes and a raid? Remember how everyone wasn't really happy with that? Now we get a free update and they give us less than 50% of what TDB offered us. What, couldn't be arsed to do more because you don't get 40 bucks from everyone now? "OHHHH, BUTT IT'Z FWEEEEEE!!!" Stop. This is not an excuse. If the April Update contained only one emote and three sparrows and it was free, I bet you'd still be telling me to not complain. This wouldn't be such a problem if they released this update back in December or January, you know, the time where everyone started to complain of PvE content drought? And in fact, I'm willing to admit that if they had released this update in December or January, I'd be praising it. But the problem is that this was released half a year after TTK dropped. I thought the AU 2016 was going to be awesome. I mean, after six months surely they would come up with something great, right? Something bigger than TDB and HoW? Finally! I can forgive Bungie! But no, instead we get one mission, one strike, a revived PoE, a 320 Void Edge with Will of Light (great infusion fuel, though, I'll give it that), some "improvements" and a whopping 15 increase in Light level. Byoutiful. What were you doing for six months? Edit: I get it. It's free, and therefore I should be grateful. And while something is better than nothing, remember that it has been SIX MONTHS. By this time back in Year 1 we already had TDB and HoW. Edit 2: Dark Below was 40 bucks where I live. Edit 3: I'll say this again. DARK BELOW WAS PRICED 40 BUCKS WHERE I LIVE. Edit 4: If this update was released back in December or January (you know, the time people started to complain about PvE content drought) I would have absolutely no problem with it, and hell, I'll be praising the update like the sun. At the end of the day, it's all a matter of timing. And while something is better than nothing, it also needs to be something more substantial if we had to wait nearly seven months for something new. As is, the update is fine, but it could have been a little bit more. PoE is good, but the Pretender to the Throne quest was up and over in one hour.

 • I think it's fair to criticize bungie for not delivering enough content to keep up with demand, but i think that expectations need to be pulled back because it's obviously not going to change. Giving mature, constructive feedback and letting bungie know we want more by not playing is the only real way that we can get that message across. As long as we keep playing and buying silver, we are only proving their point that this is sufficient. You can get on the forums and tell Bungie that they are trash and that the game is horrible and they should be ashamed of themselves, but at the end of the day the only message that matters is the time spent and the money spent. People spend time and money on things they like. If we didn't like it, we wouldn't buy silver (admittedly I never have) and we wouldn't play the game. The expectation is that we should be getting big, frequent updates akin to WoW, but for a year and a half Bungie has proved this isn't the case. So why would that change now?
