I had high hopes for Destiny, I really did. I was enthusiastic watching Jason Staten present what was going to be an vast open world game where I could explore, engage avariety of enemies and face significant challenges. I was excited!
For almost 2 years I stuck in there with you, Bungie, I was keen and willing to hold on through the whole 10 years. I know Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will Destiny. I have been patient.
But this April update has left me disillusioned. I appreciate the new level of communication, the weekly blog and the twitch streams and I give DeeJ credit for upping his game.
However the devs have lost their way. They've lost sight of the vision. Luke Smith, though having designed great raids is perhaps not the best guy to be creative director any longer.
DeeJ, I just can't keep running the same events over and over again. I don't play PvP much if at all. I love the PvE, that's my interest in Destiny. But I'm watching this game become all about the PvP now. Which is great for those players who love that, but not for me.
I'm an explorer, a hammer who hunts the enemies of humanityand destroys them. While I'd love to do the endgame content, I'm just too a casual a player to do those without some form of matchmaking. Which Luke is dead against.
So, I'm putting Destiny away for a while to go back to Blizzard, who clearly make games for everyone. Right now I'm going back to Diablo 3 and maybe to WoW for a true MMO experience.
I'm not an angry player, just disappointed. As an expert in customer service I am appalled that whomever makes the decisions is clearly refusing to listen to the playing community. And while some feedback has been angry and ranty much more of it has been constructive and aimed at improving the game.
Destiny desperately needs more PvE content. It has enough PvP content right now. It needs larger planetside sandboxes, more missions with more variety. New quests and some serious work done on it's story. Given the competition from titles like The Division, Fallout 4 and SW Battlefront.
That's me Superdandux signing out.
(Maybe I'll be back in the future)
