The most pressing issue with Stormcaller is not its length, not the amount of kills it can get, and not landfall.
The real problem is the perk Electrostatic Mind. In PvE, this is an excellent idea for a perk, but it doesn't translate so well to PvP for balancing reasons.
The perk reads:
Stormtrance charges faster when allies are near. When Stormtrance is active, nearby enemies take damage.
The obvious problem is the faster charge time. But how much of a reduction is given to your recharge rate? Keep in mind, these charge rates are assuming zero kills, which is very unlikely.
With one ally nearby: 4:00>3:21
With two allies nearby: 4:00>2:21
With three allies nearby: 4:00>1:50

There is a very clear advantage to getting the first super in a match, being able to generate orbs for your teammates to get their supers and, in turn, have yours given to you again.
Let's assume the Stormcaller is using Light Beyond Nemesis, which we can all agree is not uncommon. That means that in the best case scenario, they can generate a whopping 7 orbs for their team if they were to receive a 7th Column medal. Assuming a much less spectacular run, we'll say an average 3 kills, that's still 3 orbs, and often more than enough to fuel at least one teammate's super.
Though there are other issues that are surely being looked at (the infamous Wombo Combo, shadestep glitch, firebolts w/Viking funeral), there is no argument that this is not one of the most broken aspects of the game in PvP right now.

On a completely different note, if information like this was made available in game and we weren't just told "It's longer" or "do more damage" then waaay more people would actually make builds! A big problem with the game is the overpowered versus overused argument, and most things are simply overused to the point that weapon, armor, and even subclass variety is at a minumum. Reading this makes me want to go get some Intellect gear and Light Beyond Nemesis, for a crowd control/support build. Bungie pls!

I'm just waiting for the days when you see full IB teams of stormcallers that just move as a pack for the first minute, then start popping supers 2 at a time.

The only thing that truly sticks out with this sub class is Thunder strike, which requires a charge. Along with the possability to get multikills using Trancendence in the 6v6 playlists. I really dont see why Bungie should touch this class.

1 AntwortenStarted a match last night with a 5 man team. Random joined our team right before we started. Ended up being a warlock. Within 30 secs from start of the match he ended up popping stormtrance. We were all like wtf?

6 AntwortenAssuming those stats are true, seems like the real issue is a lack of teamwork and communication to shut down players with such stats. Supers are meant to be OP, just as tethers strip you of an active roaming super and hammers torch half the battlefield.

Every time I jump over someone as they shoot me to bare minimum health, just to then die to my landfall while I now have full health.. I feel like a cheater. [spoiler]I still do it. 1 AntwortenI'm done using stormcaller. I get 5 shoted by mida, 1 hit by hammers, smoked and nade spammed everything I cast the super. Switched back to nova been doing a lot better

4 AntwortenI've said it before but only change I would like to see is landfall not being able to destroy a Ward of Dawn. Every other super is a trade-off and at least gives the chance to escape, but stormcaller can destroy WoD upon activation and kill the titan inside and continue roaming. Other than that one problem, I don't see any other changes needed to the subclass. (I main a defender titan but at the moment I've been trying to get the First Curse on my hunter.)

The issue is landfall shouldn't exist, it lasts too long, makes an annoying af noise and did I mention it lasts too long? Oh and it lasts too long.
