I was pretty pleased to see Control come up as the rotation this month's IB, but about 6 matches later that feeling has been vanquished. You see, I like the more objective based PVP modes since I'm not that great at shooting other players, but I can get sh*t done and that includes capturing points. However, such an approach is ruined when scrubs go into the matches just looking for kills and seem blithely unaware or apathetic of the fact that the more zones you control, the higher your score.
I have literally just come from a match where my "team" were purposely hanging back from Zone B and trying to treat it as a killzone, which is a sound strategy WHEN THAT ZONE IS UNDER YOUR CONTROL, but pure idiocy when it isn't! The amount of times there 3-4 players in a position to charge the zone and did absolutely nothing was staggering, and the other team were just lapping up the points as they had perpetual control of 2 zones for the entirety. This also leads me to believe that many players haven't figured out that winning matches earns you rep as well.
I really think the bounties of IB need to be more representative of the game type you're actually playing, e.g. capturing a certain amount of points within a match/day/week. If all the bounties remain entirely kill based, then IB might as well be permanently set to Clash.
Anyone else feeling similarly deflated by this?

You don't have to own any zones to win, but most of the time owning 2 zones is a good strategy. The worst thing that you can do as a solo player is ignore what the other 5 players on your team are doing.

I think mode specific bounties for IB would be awesome. Capture so many zones, defeat the spark runner so many times, ignite the rift so many times, etc. That would really be brilliant

I have no problem with a few good slayers on the team who ignore objectives, since if they're the ones pushing the enemy back, then I'll just cap the point. What I really can't stand is camping snipers. Just played a match of Black Shield where literally half our team was camping and hardscoped in middle room half the game, while the enemy held B. Most went negative too. ... -__- I'd rather have an active slayer than a camper

5 AntwortenYou can help your team out also by not dying, which by looking at your iron banner games you've played so far in the last 2 days, you have a lot of trouble accomplishing.

4 Antwortensorry... scoring insists get out and kill.... or lose. Capture, then go out and KILL... or else, do not score much. Bounties want KILLS, not captures. Scoring minimal for captures, bigger for KILLS, and the more the better.. The winning teams are packed with HUNGRY players that constantly capture, then kill, then capture, kill,.. non-stop. bounties and scoring would need to be redone to lean towards a certain play just my opinion...

I agree. PTFO or GTFO. getting kills will score you points, but controlling zones and getting kills gets you the win. Whole point of iron banana is to up your rep for rank 5 package and the more wins you have the faster that will happen
-
What I don't understand is why iron banner just doesn't have all 3 6 v 6 game mode available for iron banner every week.
-
I actually agree (and have stated previously) that the control points should be key. I play many games where I have 5-6-7 captures, and everyone else had one or none. The score SHOULD reflect this. I think a multiplier effect of some sort. But it barely does. That's why I think zone control would make for a fantastic iron banner.

Yes. I was very disapointed last night. First by being thrown into matches already in progress, and second by having those teams treat control like is was clash...I don't know if all three characters will be going to rank five this time. Very frustrating.

I get that players in every game play objective based game modes to pad their KD by sitting back and picking off players moving from zone to zone. What I don't get is why do it in iron banner? You can accomplish the same thing in regular crucible and in addition to the competion in iron banner being higher, you need to win in order to make the game count for anything.

They....will ALWAYS COMPLAIN !!!

Squeaker idiots reign supreme!!!!

6 AntwortenSo probably common knowledge to regular crucible control junkies, but I recently learned that 3 ppl on a point max's the capture ability. If you see 3 there already, move past and kill some or go to another point.
cue the "1 yr late" comments
no im loving iron banner.

You on ps4? Add me and we can premade. I usually am at or near the top in kills AND captures.

2 AntwortenYou get bonus points for both defending and attacking zones. Support classes can work well in control- tethering enemies to defend heavy, bubble on heavy, bubble on zone etc. I will use self res on a zone I am capturing just to complete the capture.

I've had this all night yesterday no one did anything to cap points and we would religiously lose because obit 3 of us would try and our meat shield teammates were oblivious to the point of control. #needafull6

Played a few matches solo as a Defender last night. Other than the occasional lagger, I had no issues. Even got to teabag a self rez at the end of my last match. Overall a fun experience.

I haven't played it yet, and not sure I will...but I have always thought bounties should be tailored for each different game type. Having the kill bounties for every game mode just makes no sense sometimes.
