The option to choose matchmaking for endgame events in Destiny has been a fierce topic of discussion since launch and for whatever reason, Bungie will not include it.
For a large portion of the community this means not raiding, not playing Trials and during HoW, not killing Skolas. All anyone needs to do is look up raid completion numbers and Lighthouse visits to see that only a very small % of the player base is experiencing the most meaningful content in the game.
After today, it's about to be the worst it's ever been.
I was disappointed when I read on Twitter there would be no matchmaking for challenge mode, but after watching the stream I was genuinely shocked they're still hell bent down this path.
The thing with Trials and the higher level original PoE's is that if you're friends are running with someone else, they can still finish and run with you.
My pal JS runs with countless ToO groups each weekend and at some point, a couple of us get on and run. Sure matchmaking would be awesome for when friends are already grouped; maybe it's be harder with randoms, but playing would still be more fun that sitting in orbit waiting for others to finish... but at least once they do finish, they can run again.
Challenge mode is going to -blam!- that all up because it requires a card that can only be used once a week.
So now when your friends have already grouped and finished their cards, there's no running again with your group after. So even more so than before, the only option for a lot of people is going to be LFG.
Must be LL 330. Must have blah blah blah weapon. Must be Sunsinger.
Screw that. I will not troll LFG to run content and particularly content that could easily be completed with randoms.
It's not rocket science and it's nothing like a raid. There's no jumping puzzles or team mechanics to work out. Kill enemies. Rez dead teammates. Stay alive.
I'm really excited to see Winter's Run return and I think being able to endlessly run the base level PoE for Marks and chests sounds awesome, but this sticking to their guns on omm was a mistake and I think the numbers will end up reflecting it.
I don't want Bungie to find me friends, I want them to let me access their content with other players looking to run the same thing without having to leave the game to do it.
I seriously hope they reconsider this because people have been waiting for new fun things to play, not new fun things to be locked out of by archaic philosophies.
Edit: this was a real opportunity to show you're listening and unfortunately once more it's a silly decision that's taking the shine off the reveal.

You will only be able to get the rewards once of course, but there is nothing stopping you from playing JS is he still needs to get some points on his cumulative score even if your own card is done. Now the main issue posted here is the lack of matchmaking. That seems to be one of the largest complaints so far about the April update. I will definitely take your feedback to the decision makers.

Great post!

I only do raids with LFG made teams who communicate, so I wouldn't use matchmaking unless it was to fill an empty slot. But I don't see the harm of it being there others to use if they want to and it won't effect me or any other hard core player. Give everyone a chance to play content they have paid for. In fact include TOO too so it waters down the sweatfest a little. Won't do my KD any harm at all :)

Why these clowns continue to refuse OPTIONAL matchmaking for all end game activities is unfathomable.

4 AntwortenConsidering how this forum post has over 800 comments/replies within a day and a half, you'd think that Bungie might consider that there are enough people wanting this to be worth investing the time to add some form of an in-game optional matchmaking or LFG service. Since it looks like they are sticking to never implementing this, I just wish we could get some of those "decision makers" to brave the forums and have an meaningful and in-depth discussion with us about their reasoning for not helping to enable their customers to access their content.

Just make it optional

6 AntwortenI just had this debate of matchmaking vs. LFG in a nerf post. The lack of matchmaking directly impacts EVERYONE's game experience whether they would use it or not, whether they have their own groups to do endgame content or not. Why? Simply put, because Bungie tries to manage LFG elitism by giving us crappy weapons that are not "must have" weapons, and they nerfed all the really great weapons, and they design endgame content so that you do not "need" great weapons in order to complete them. So whether you are an opponent, proponent, or indifferent regarding optional matchmaking, you ARE being effected by it, because the way's Bungie has tried to make LFG more accessible is to water down our weaponry. The result? All our weapons in Y2 suck, are very bland and boring, there is really no difference making weapons, even the supposedly powerful ones are really only good in very limited instances. There is no Y2 G-horn or Icebreaker, or any weapon that will make a difference on the level those weapons did. There is no fatebringer that can eliminate a crowd of T1 enemies in just a single shot. Hell, all rockets have been nerfed so much so that they are really just alternate crowd-control weapons. Chain guns? They're all now mostly meh, except for the raid chain gun, which is only good because it will auto-reload when you store it. But even then, it takes the same amount of time to reload it manually that it does when you store it (roughly, about 5 seconds) so that it is only a very minor advantage. If you guys WANT your elite weapons back, one of two things needs to happen. Either 1) everyone on LFG agrees to not be elitist pricks by requiring specific weapons and light levels to go on endgame content (not likely ever going to happen) OR 2) Matchmaking needs to be implemented in order to give those who ARE currently locked out of the system a chance to play endgame content. Will it be perfect? No. But it will help some people, and I don't see why we as gamers should not want people to have options. If you already have a raid group, it is not going to affect you in anyway. And if you don't, maybe you'll find/meet a group of regulars that will become YOUR raid team.

182 AntwortenBearbeitet von Hektik: 3/24/2016 11:50:40 AMAt this point the refusal to include matchmaking is pure spite. There is absolutely no reason to not have mm for the challenge mode. Spitefulness is not a good look. Division has proven that matchmaking works. I really wish I liked the division theme because I'd be there in a heartbeat. I really had hope that division would wake Bungie up but they continue to keep their heads buried in the sand. This has been the last straw for me. I will not be purchasing anymore Destiny content. I don't have to spend any money to watch a "let's play" and keep up with the chapter length story of each release. If the company won't support me as its player base I won't support them financially. Back in September I couldn't really say I wouldn't continue to pay. Y1 gear was worth collecting so I felt I had to keep up with the Joneses. Y2 has completely killed the addiction. Infusion and mediocre guns has cut my strings.
I've got no strings To hold me down To make me fret, or make me frown I had strings But now I'm free There are no strings on me
2 AntwortenI agree, they should add matchmaking.
-
3 AntwortenThere are exactly 0 valid reasons to ever have matchmaking. Quit bring lazy scrubs. You only need to find 2 people.
-
Well considering all of our friends don't play destiny anymore and neither do I, where's the incentive to play the updated content. I have no time for going into lfg groups, I'll just play another game.
-
Regardless if it worked as well as I hope, this would get me playing the parts of the game more and I'd be a little happier in the process. Nothing wrong with making a ton of people's game experience even better.
-
7 AntwortenBump. Pretty sure you know my position on this one as well. No omm or ingame LFG, no purchase. I did that with TTK and I will stick to that promise in the future as long as this game remains as a coop heavy, mmo-ish game. Im not wasting $$$ on content that will be gated by out of game, third-party LFG bullshiit. Im here to shoot aliens and enjoy a video game. NOT to find a partner through some eHarmony or match.com bullshit.
-
BUMP. I wish they'd just come out and tell us, in all complete 100% honesty, why they don't want to implement matchmaking. It wouldn't be hurting anybody, and we would get more people to play the game, just like if they were to release all PVP and PVE ( or lack thereof) game modes/events constantly simultaneously

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von GANTZ: 3/24/2016 2:30:24 PMyep , after division i cant go back to forum spamming in destiny anymore, pressing "matchmaking" feels like heaven after this bungie abuse
-
That's why I'm playing the division, optional matchmaking is just a breath of fresh air, it's so easy to just sit down and play with or without friends.

5 AntwortenYour barking up the wrong tree Lost Sols...only community managers look at this site. The devs themselves admitted they only look at fanboy sites, streams etc. like Reddit. Your better off posting there if you want devs to see it.
-
1 AntwortenIt just keeps them a step behind other game makers for no reason other than they have a complete inability to listen to reason.
-
1 AntwortenYay, time to become legend (again), by visiting an external website in order to play the game... After all why jump through one hoop when nine or ten will do!
-
Not sure why bungie thinks they are helping me find "friends" through omm as it would be much more of a transient relationship than that. Of all the LFGS I've done, the number of people I put on my friend list is very small in comparison (and itonically, the ones I did add we did horribly on the raid but damn were they some funny dudes). So Bungie needs to remove that "friend" concept out of their minds.
-
I'm done with lfg sites. To much need this and that. Raids is one thing but poe with matchmaking choices is another!
-
4 Antwortenmeanwhile Luke still thinks that he is right, and the entire community is wrong. it's a pretty sad day in hell when ubisoft does things better than bungie; oh how the mighty have fallen. "screw you guys. i'm goin home." #bagofrichards

Bearbeitet von LONE RONIN2012: 3/26/2016 10:15:50 AMCosmo is going to take matchmaking to the decision makers. Seriously? How long has this demand sat on the wish list unanswered. Only to be told it isn't in their philosophy, and about how they will find you games but not friends.
-
12 AntwortenAnother stupid post about the lack of matchmaking. Well let me just throw in some common sense to this.. Matchmaking for end-game activities would break this game. How you ask? Simple, ya know how lopsided most PVP team matches are because of people quitting once their team starts losing? WHAT THE F*** DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN IN PVE!?!? You think scrubs will be less scrubby and stick it out, or do you think they'll join and quit until they cherry pick their desired matched team - meanwhile breaking the matchmaking system itself and causing massive server load? I'm very confident Bungie KNOWS exactly what they're doing here.
