Putting it out there ... Year 1 players only; respond please

Anyone else here from year 1 feel that there has been no challenging content since TTK dropped with all the nerf-dates I.E. Nightfalls have checkpoints now ... Like wtf ?!? P.s. Iron banner hands out rank 3/5 packages ( talk about giving away loot ) I remember when the bounties used to be hard and getting to rank 5 was actually a week filled grind sesh . EDIT :D--->: what I liked most about the VOG run is that you could literally be roving around Venus on your flaming antigravity tumbler and join in killing Praetorians. [spoiler]this is actually how I met my first raid group and made my first (and only :/ [now disbanded] ) clan [/spoiler] [spoiler]why can't we meet people this way with any other raid or end game content ? I literally walked up to complete strangers and started killing Praetorians with them cuz I noticed they were a man short for a raid :D the rest was history ... [/spoiler] [spoiler]then HoW came out and BROKE UP MY RAID GROUP !! So mad !! [/spoiler] Side note * if anyone knows how to link the posts to #deej or #cosmo let me know there is a lot of good content in here that they should read

    Just saying, House Of Wolves -4 endgame content paths (3 raids [Yes, Skolas=raid], Trials of Osiris) -Technically 5 if you count getting etheric light from nightfall -Technically 6 Etheric light from Iron Banner as well (Thank you RaoulDuke462) -EVERYTHING was relevant due to etheric light. So you were willing grind for anything and everything, whether old or new. -XP boost nightfall -100-150 Rep per bounties -Like 500 rep for nightfalls -Re-rolling (even though it was a double edged sword. Good and Bad) All these things made the game more challenging in general because of the grind and actually being rewarded for your struggles (sometimes)

    • A quick list of all modifications that rendered Y1 content poor comparing to TTK : 1. replacing difficulty level of VANILLA content with difficulty that requires light of TTK expansion 2 locking us out of the freedom to choose SPECIFIC modes in crucible like we did before TTK. 3 removed us the ability to earn marks 4 removed L28 strikes 5 removed Petra bounties 6 removed Daily L30 7 removed nightfall L32 This was bought content, part of Vanilla, TDB, HoW. Yet you have removed it without a valid reason. (other than butchering and deteriorating the game to the point where TTK is rendered a good choice to buy)

    • HoW killed my clan too. Lack of 6 man challenges just broke everyone up into their own little groups. Then a lot of us just stopped playing.

      • Year 2 definitely was not a huge challenge. That was the soul reason that they made challenge mode for kings fall. Because it was too easy (in my opinion)z

        • Yea. Year one was the best. TTK brought in new awesome guns, cool lore, and some interesting areas, with a really challenging raid. All good things, but they wimped out on EVERYTHING ELSE. End game content is either tedious or changed to be super easy. Nightfalls don't feel important anymore and don't present any challenge. We used to have to actually plan and coordinate and pay attention to what the -blam!- was going on or we are seeing the stars again. That was fun. I loved the challenge and the nightfall was a big deal. We used to get cool loot and exotics, which we still can get some of, but the loot pool was expanded with a bunch of random garbage and drop rates changed so the rewards suck. I'm fine with the emote drops, and I actually would be very happy if I got one to drop. Don't have to pay money. But it just feels pointless to do the nightfall. While the raid feels like a raid, I feel like they went a little overboard. The coordination required in some of those fights is way too much to ask for most console players, especially for LFG groups. This is fine for veterans who are used to raids and raid size things, such as veteran and experienced World of Warcraft players, but very few people on consoles have the experience required to do these raids properly. VOG was pretty simple once you knew the mechanics with the main threat being ads killing a teammate. Crota was a strike so I'm leaving that one. But kings fall is closer to the raids MMO players are used to and the player base for consoles has no experience at all for them and most aren't learning too well. To top all of this off, the community post TTK is absolutely horrendous. Most don't have a -blam!-ing clue what their doing, don't follow directions when we try to help, don't communicate, don't help kill anything, don't play their roles, and are generally arrogant and end up being horrible raid team members. It sucks. They're impatient and hate wiping. They are quick to judge and kick for the slightest of mistakes, even if it's because you are basically carrying them and trying to do their job at the same time as yours. But there is a small spark of hope in their group. I've found a couple of guys and helped them out and we now run everything together. One started in house of wolves, only hit level 20, and stopped playing for a few months until taken king dropped and the other started with taken king. What makes me really happy is that these two are both year 2 guardians but they were attentive and eager to learn. They weren't able to experience the joys and wonders of year one and wanted to learn from one of us. The best part is that they don't act and don't play like the year 2 guardians that we see a ton of, but play like they've been doing this forever. I've taught them whatever they wanted to know about the game. From lore to how to judge weapon rolls correctly. I've told them stories of our beginnings, of our slow grind to raid level and of Randal the Vandal. I've told them stories of throwing Templar and Atheon off the edge. I've told them stories of crota and POE. I've told them stories of the Fatebringer, of Felwinter's Sniper, and of Gjallarhorn. I then grabbed friends and took them through what we've done. We ran through VOG, and Crota, and killed Skolas. [spoiler]Inevitably when people ask, no I didnt kill Skolas in year one. Started playing around a month after launch and by the time I got to level 34, I would just get kicked from 35 POE by leaders to get friends in at the boss room. Sucks to be me.[/spoiler] I brought them through the nightfall and brought us to orbit every wipe to teach them what we knew. To show them and make them understand what we had gone through. Through this I tought them our strategies, our character and weapon builds, and made sure they knew the every mechanic of every raid, strike, and field boss we could still fight. They know each area in this game like the back of their hands and are actively helping others. Other year one players know what I'm talking about when I say this next part. By the end of this, even though I had never said it to them, they had picked up on and were following the thing that made them truly year one guardians. They may have started their paths in year two, but they are year one. They figured out and acted on the unspoken yet universal code all year one guardians followed and still do. I shall not state it, as to keep ascension to those who either already know or are worthy. They know what they're doing in everything thrown at them and it makes me happy. I hope that more can be found in the stew of hate and sorrow and anguish that came in with TTK. I spent the first chunk of this ranting and telling their story makes me feel a bit happier. I can honestly say I feel I have become legend in destiny. Not as a guardian to the city, but as a guardian to the other players. I've been lurking and heard a few year twos talking about those in year one after a raid. Muted my mic as I was eating a sandwich when they started. Some of them speak of us as if we are higher powers. As if we are already legends. Not to toot my own horn, but I hold my own place amongst year one players. I've done more PVE carries and taught more people raids and other aspects of this game than I can count at this point. [spoiler] Have spent a day and a half in the VOG. 1 day 4 hours of that in hard. [/spoiler] I've become the mentor of those who stayed close through this game. I love destiny and am buying destiny 2 at launch. Remember this tale when you next play guardians. Good luck.           • I remember them talking about King's Fall before ttk launched, saying how it was going to be "Less bulletsponge" and more "Tactics" Golgoroth wasn't a bulletsponge then...? King's Fall is such a massive grind, that I ALWAYS get bored after killing Golgoroth, which is why I've never done it. Though I'm going to grit my teeth and finish it this week. Hardest part of this entire year for me personally, was the Fear's Embrace mission on Phobos. First time, I tried to solo it at like 230. Twas awkward....piece of cake now. But if we look back, the spiral into "Lack of difficulty" started BEFORE TTK. Remember when they nerfed Skolas because people said he was too difficult? Funny that.

          • Right at the end of TDB, I finally had a solid raid group that could do VoG and Crota with [b]NO DRAMA[/b]. It was great. Then came HoW and I was like WTF? Why 3 man end game content now? But at least everything else was relevant again. Although I never bothered with Skolas. Didn't see the point. When TTK came out, I moved to the Xbox one and the clan was pretty much history. I did the normal raid twice with some other friends and that was it. Pretty much I'm the only one left that even casually plays Destiny a couple times a week. Oh well. In the immortal words of Ray: "That's the way she goes, boys. That's the way she goes."

          • When the first nerf dropped, I thought they may have simply adjusted a weapon. Then began the spiral. When balancing is complete there will be no reason to raid of grind gear. By definition, 'weapon balance' eliminates any advantages, hence, it also eliminates the need to get better gear. There will be no 'better gear' to get. Then the game is dead, for the entire premise (grind for better gear) will be defeated! No need to kill Destiny, just sit back and eat popcorn, Bungie "got this"!

            In TTK Bungie took 1 step forward -New Weapons -Better story telling -Connection is a little improved -Etc And 5 steps back -All favorite exotics discontinued and held back -Broken reward system -Shitty Nightfalls -Reduced strikes to 5/6 (really?) -Crap balance -PvE content sucks -Old Raids aren't reliable for rewards (Actually KF too) -No rerolling (though this is reasonable) -Easier content -Etc -Tbh I like the thorn era better than the 1k stare era-
