This is why:
Vault of Glass is never too punishing, nor is it too easy. If one person dies (assuming you have a full fireteam), the rest can continue just fine, with little to no difficulties. If the guy with the relic dies, just pass it on to the other guy. If you wipe, it doesn't really take very long to get back to where you were.
King's Fall? You're shit out of luck if even ONE guy dies. This is especially apparent in Totems, Deathsingers and Oryx. Bonus "I'm screwed" points if the person that dies was the relic runner. And if it's hard mode? Too bad, if one guy dies (or heaven forbid he disconnects because Bungo's servers consist of two potatoes and a tulip), you're doing it all over again.
Take Golgoroth Challenge for example. It doesn't matter how far you get into the challenge, if so much as ONE guy dies, you have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN. It's not that I suck at it, it's just so tedious to do it again. Oh, and don't get me started on the random disconnects. It's bad enough that the servers consist of two budding potatoes and a dead tulip, but if one guy disconnects? Restart. They don't even have the courtesy to give you back your ammo, or at least spawn you back alive. You start from nothing when you reconnect.
It is for this ONE reason why VoG will always be better than KF. The fact that VoG is willing to forgive beginners' mistakes (and the servers' screw-ups) and still be a fair challenge. KF is like, "Hell no, bitch, you screw up or if the servers die on you, I don't care, you do it again."
And I think that this is why the people who host LFGs for KF are less forgiving than the raid itself.
On one LFG raid, they asked if I had a 300 Black Spindle. At the time, I only had a 299 Black Spindle. So what did they do? They kicked me. Come on, it's close enough.
That's all I have to say.

Totems can be done with four people and no cheese

2 AntwortenWhat's that? Cabal Raid time with Phalanxes hopped up on Cabal Steroids, Ironclad, Angry, Epic, Solar Burn, Lightswitch, and Force Push shields?!

VoG shall always hold a place in my heart but I like KF better. More mechanics involved kinda complicated and not that straight forward. Also you have to have everyone alive I hate where one person is dead for an hour and then we kill the boss. Mainly cause that person did nothing but still gets good loot. You gotta work for it you know?
-
You can have people die during King's Fall and still complete the bosses. The problem is that most people do not know every role during the raid. Some people still do not know how to complete Totems if you only have 4 or 5 alive. Some people still don't know how to use the aura from War Priest. Some people still don't know how to hold a gaze....or jump on platforms....or run a relic. If more people understood the mechanics of every section of King's Fall then you'd see that it's not that hard to complete every section with only 4 players alive at any time.

One reason? Vex are way better than Hive.

Don't die!

I do like having everyone working as a team to perform their own specific role in order to complete raid encounters. However, it's also a drawback in that if one person dies, it can be very difficult or impossible to recover, especially early totems or early Oryx fight. The main problem that arises from this is if you run raids with LFG randoms, a single person can drag down the entire team and if you have multiple bad teammates, it's usually for the best you just leave and regroup with other people. In designing the mechanics for raids, there needs to be a balance between difficulty, teamwork, and ability to recover if a person dies or weighs a team down. VoG had a decent balance of these but I wish it had required more from the team as a whole. Regardless, it was still quite memorable and the best raid thus far in my opinion.

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von ash: 3/17/2016 7:32:47 PMTBH I like King's Fall better for all the reasons you've listed. Having each player be essential and having their unique, indispensable role is what raiding's all about IMO.
King's Fall? You're shit out of luck if even ONE guy dies.
I disagree with this, though obviously it depends on light level. You don't need all 6 alive for Deathsingers really. You just need 5 or a minimum of 4 (3 for the plates, and one runner). If someone dies on Oryx you can survive too if the person in the middle (who ISN'T using Blessing of Light) takes over the role of the guy who just died. So it's definitely possible to carry someone through the raid who keeps dying.

I have it on good authority that its two potatoes and a box of macaroni.

I agree 100%. I'm always afraid I'll screw up every encounter in KF. So I only completed it once (shared among all three characters).

Bearbeitet von MEGANAUTe: 3/18/2016 3:39:17 AMVOG was better because of the rewards. Not because their light levels, of course. Fatebringer, Vision Of Confluence, Ahhhh so many more....and the armor was awesome.

6 AntwortenKings fall is the most punishing, unforgiving raid. But the actual content is far more interesting and complex then VoG ever was. I'd have to disagree with your analysis.

Bearbeitet von SwiftBMF: 3/18/2016 3:21:55 AMKings fall is the easiest raid there is,maybe try doing the VoG at the correct level.

14 AntwortenKingsfall true challenge! VoG for scrubbie freeriders! Well the Vog gear and weapons are good compared to Kingsfall.

Your reason is why I like KF more than VoG lol

Kf was fun the bosses are easy but they are all the same like no joke all but one boss require you to stand on something to get a bubble where you stand in and shoot. Its the same for VoG and CE but those were cool relics. PoE what was it the scorch cannon? It was badass not very useful though. Relic in KF? a magic bubble that you stand in and shoot from thats all the relic is. I'd say mix up all encounters instead of having the same macnhic for each fight change the relic up a tad. CE was a hive raid so is KF for the most part add the sword bearer into a encounter or some shit. Mix it up. It was like this for all raids once you get the first boss down you can do the rest only because each boss fight will have the same concept find relic, grab relic, do damage, repeat.

I like things about all raids kf has perfected interesting mechanics and boss fights vog has the best loot table and fun encounters and the most fun to explore and crota has very interesting and fun mechanics that aren't boss fights.
