Ok, so here's the thing. You are going to be able to save your dog a lot easier than a person, and being able to swim doesnt mean your immune from drowning. If you dont think you can save a person because you arent physically able to but you can save the dog then there is not anything wrong with that, but you shouldnt put yourself in harms way if you think you will be unable to rescue someone or something.

If I lock that person in a trunk for 6 hours they'll be pissed and might try to kill me. Meanwhile my dog will jump out happy to see me and will love me. Checkm8.

What if it was you family drowning ? would you rather have a stranger save a dog over you parent, child, brother/sister, dear friend. If you really choose the dog over a human being i hope you drown. The world is better off without you.
