A lot of people stream themselves doing trails carries every weekend. Many of them then come to the forums and brag about how many Lighthouse carries they have completed and looking for new backpacks to watch and sub to their streams, which generate revenues for many of them. Some people simply charge a fee for a flawless run...
However, when they brag about 100 Lighthouse carries, all I think about is how many Guardians had their passages ended because of these douchebags. Yes, they are douchebags; ignorant blaming douchebags trying to make a living off a video game for which WE all paid and diminishing the gaming experience for thousands of other players.
How many Guardians would earn their trip to the Lighthouse themselves if there was a Trails lockout once a character went flawless? Why does Bungie facilitate these basement dwellers earning income off our game instead of making the game more player friendly and fostering better competition? Do they really think these losers are good for the game? Many of them are profane immature children, no; that is not a function of age, that very often bash Bungie and/or the rest of the community while they make profits off so doing.
Add a Weekly (Sunday) "Deliberations of Osiris Tournament" for the top teams based on Flawless Trails scores as of the Sunday Morning Reset. These teams play an Elimination tournament called "The Verdict of Osiris" with guaranteed gear and the "Executioner of Osiris" emblem for only the overall tournament winning team each week. The top 2% would have this event to themselves and I suspect that streams from such a tournament would be viewed by many; even those that don't watch such things now...Win-Win-Win for everybody!
Lastly, add Matchmaking to ToO so everybody can complete the bounties each week and perhaps make some new ToO friends with which they may someday go to the Lighthouse. Even if you need three or four passages to complete your bounties, at least you would be able to so do.
TLDR: Once anybody finishes their flawless run on a character, lock that character out of further ToO access so that people can earn their flawless emblems and gear instead of “buying” them from these douchebags.
Not all streamers are douchebags, just most of them...IMO!
Trials is for everybody; going to the lighthouse is for those who earn it (or get carried).

4 AntwortenYou have a .48 KD you have no right to complain. Bad kids will be bad kids

Trials is a different ballgame and it's the most adrenaline intensive game mode we have. I suck at it as I'm still getting my act together in normal pvp. It will take the fun out if it wasn't this difficult. Since we'd never play the best with matchmaking there would be no standard to git good :).

1000000% correct. You go flawless you can't go again on that character OR you get put in an elite tier. The fact that streamers make $ off of this is bullshit. Bungie doesn't want us trading because real money would be involved but they PROMOTE streamers who do carries. So happy I have the division to play this week (end)
-
The whole game is for everyone to play as they see fit.

3 AntwortenOk, I suck at ToO...just getting better at 6v6, but damn even I'm not as salty about ToO as you. You ever heard of this thing called MLG?! People make a living playing video games, and you calling them douchebags for using ToO as a revenue is rather wrong. Even I don't think people should be locked out after going flawless, because they bought this game like me and I also accept the fact that I may never get to the Lighthouse....time for you to do the same. If that doesn't work, then I think the next statement is very fitting......"Git Gud"

Dont lock them out. Just put lighthouse with others. Put them in another tier for the weekend.
-
2 AntwortenSo you want to prevent people from playing because they are "too good" at the game?
-
5 AntwortenCome on man, that's pretty harsh. My team does about 20-25 runs a weekend. I make no money off it. Occasionally we get donation which goes to my buddy (much better than me, full time student who needs it more than I do). I put in 30 hours most weekends for zero pay and no rewards beyond having fun and making the guys we are running with happy. The reason people get so happy about it is that they know it's a hard mode. Turn it into this kiddie version and there is then not that high feeling when you make it. You want them to take the challenge out of it... Lastly, I do agree that people that straight up charge are dbags of the highest order.

I actually think Trials is probably the best thing that happened to generate and maintain interest in this game on Twitch, and as a result keeps these streamers and their followers from migrating to other games. I also think it is way more entertaining to watch these streamers play trials than any other game modes. If it lets these streamers make a living doing something they love, then that's great. Also, many of them do double carries with guys that are far from good. This will eventually even out the odds, and I've seen some good non-streamer teams beat them. Furthermore, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there are still some skill based matchmaking going on with this game, so the chances of meeting these teams are pretty slim. And the most OP thing in Trials is good teamwork. Many times our teams gets our ass handed to us by players who's kd for other game modes are all below ours. This tells me that my team needs more work playing as a unit. Lastly, I feel that Trials is made for the best pvp'ers and thus should not be handed out easily. By artificially locking good players out would defeat this purpose. I'm talking from the perspective of someone who never seen the lighthouse and probably never will.

Eh, they're not doing anything illegal...if you want to win then kill them dead, as that other guy says. What I find funny is that there are people who pay for carries...I just alt-tabbed out of a japanese porn comic and even I think that's sad.
-
They are good at the game so they are d-bags? Sounds like you just went 8-1 lol
-
The Lighthouse is, for guys like me there's the guaranteed drops leading up to 7+ wins and all that.

All they have to do is the following: All guardians who go flawless that week pair them only with other guardians who have gone flawless that week as well. Easy and everyone gets a fair chance.

Once you have been to the lighthouse on a character, that character should only be put against other teams who have a character who has been to the lighthouse. Some weeks I get to 8-0 very easy no sweat and usually win 1 of the next 2, but these days I'm sweating on fresh cards, had 3 out of 6 matches sweaty as yesterday, won 1, lost 1 due to a laggy Sunsinger and lost 1 to purely being outclassed. Lighthouse run over. Don't get me started on the boom system, forgetting to buy boons has cost me a visit. There was nothing wrong with how it was, used to be in your face when you bought the card and you could wait till halfway through to buy Mercy of Osiris and 7 wins in to buy Boon of Osiris. Now you have to spend 9 coins on a fresh card and probably sweat 4 of 7/8 games to get to Mercury. My first year 2 Lighthouse visit we played 3 teams 1 off their Lighthouse visit. Seems fair...

It's suppose to be hard to get there. Deal with it
-
1 AntwortenWell I'm top 1% yet I only have a shit KD of 1.30 so yeah....
-
If people got locked out, then in the last few hours before reset I imagine I'd get to the lighthouse just by turning up. Everyone else bar me and the other chimps would be the only ones left to play

You also understated people would want the new loot the 1% would be getting and start the cry cycle again

22 AntwortenThe raid is for everyone too bad like 8% people ever do it

The existence of professionals concerns me. In the long term they WILL dominate the playing field. It happens in every other competitive environment. The other ugly truth is that most will never catch up to them. Even if you get better, they are as well. Maybe you improve more, but catching up is almost impossible without constant play. I like the idea of matching winners with winners on their second+ card. It offers a way to be more bada55. If you can 9-0, then 9-0 the previous 9-0s, you are a murderer of epic proportion. 3 trips in one week should grant a bad mofo wallet. All the carrying is obscuring true skill. I am never ever going to the lighthouse, but I randomly wreck people that are using adept weapons. So I think it is an issue, but not because I suck, but because it reduces the prestige of going full throttle sweaty try hard neck beard no life.
-
5 AntwortenWhy do you care so much about Trials? You get better loot from the weekly raid challenge.

Not saying I disagree with your opinion here. It would make it an actual exclusive event, where those dedicated Guardians can be in their own special club. I also am of the opinion that stupid people deserve to have their money taken.
