Well, here goes everything.
As a player of the alpha, and also both the closed and open betas, I consider myself very versed and proficient when it comes to all things The Division.
~ Thus, I Refute Thee.
The Division, when only glanced upon, is a brave new and exciting world for all those who have found boredom in their lives as Guardians of The Last City.
I will admit that as Destiny crumbles with a profound lack of new content, it is only natural that a majority, if not all, of the playerbase will swarm to find a new "Destiny" to seek shelter under. And so, with little time, The Division has been deemed worthy of being the so-called next "Destiny."
Well Guardians, those of you that believe this foolish lie are wrong. The Division is not your next "Destiny." It cannot even begin to hold water in comparison. You will buy this game and realize this soon enough.
Here's why:
1) Too much walking, not enough action.
Simply enough, the game overall lacks decent encounters and interactions while on the go. Sure there are some encounters, such as the medical ones, but how fun will those actually be after completing the same stagnant objective over and over again? They had a huge opportunity here to put in Public Events, but they failed to do so.
In terms of what I expect from a so-called "RPG," there should be something new and exciting around every corner, not a few kilometers away. In case it wasn't clear, I don't want to follow objective markers aimlessly down the streets of New York with little to nothing to do. Not to mention, almost 95% of all buildings are inaccessible. Where's the fun in not being able to explore and satisfying our curiosities?
2) Small map.
This is pretty apparent, and goes a lot with what I mentioned above. Not only is there nothing to do, but there's even less space to do it in. If you think about it, The Division is maybe 1/3rd the size of GTA V's map, which makes it pretty small in comparison. It also means you're going to be running out of things to do pretty fast. You simply can't go to orbit and say "Well, sure that place was cool, but let's go check out Venus." Instead, you'll inevitably find yourself stuck with nothing to do in a much smaller world, that's barely explorable, in comparison to most RPGs.
3) Dark Zone lacking across the board. (Especially for End-Game content).
If this is your excuse for End-Game content Ubisoft, then I'm not impressed. This so called "End-Game content" is PvP-driven, which is a mistake if you think about everyone who complained about Trials of Osiris.
It is completely dependent upon the cooperation of other humans who equally want to screw you over and loot you for all your worth. This is going to cause a lot of rage out in those Forums, let me tell you. When your ability to succeed at an End-Game level is so dependent on Player vs. Player interactions, then you're going to have problems period. This experience in The Dark Zone impacts your ability to succeed in the overall game which makes it even worse. If they were to add End-Game content that is more Player vs. Enemy driven then this issue really wouldn't exist.
4) There is no "loot-drive."
The number one thing that makes Destiny so compelling to play and dedicate hundreds of hours to is the loot system. As terrible as RNG may be, it keeps you playing the game. It keeps you wanting, groaning, carrying and fighting on, and finally celebrating. Not to mention the fact that Destiny's weapons in general are much more exotic (no pun intended), and way more fun to use.
When you spend hours sitting in front of a cave, staring down your barrel aimlessly and shooting into it until it glows and radiates with engrams, then you know a game is good.
5) Let's Get Real.
Do you really think you will find the same immersive and exhilirating multiplayer experience in The Division as you do in Destiny? One in which unites you and your Fireteam under one cause and one objective, one in which brings you and your Fireteam to tears at times and to triumphant cheers at others, and one that brings you and your Fireteam to the doorsteps of Darkness, as brothers bearing arms, ready to face the challenge, no matter the odds, in order to achieve victory and Become Legend?
I highly doubt it.
Edit: Did I mention the horrible graphics?
Edit: Wow 900+ replies you guys are amazing! Whether you agree or not, I appreciate everyone who stops by to offer their opinion.

As someone who played alpha and betas and name the full game I can say the game is awesome

1 AntwortenI enjoy it, that's good enough for me.

I didn't like the division beta. I won't buy the division. If you want to buy the division be my guest. I just didn't enjoy the game.

*looks at destiny playtime* This makes sense now.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Lordsa Jar-Jar: 3/7/2016 10:38:52 PMGame is simply not worth the price tag. Unless you game on PC, it's really the only thing out right now other then "CoD" , which is just as bad. If you haven't yet, pick up Witcher 3, that at least comes closer to being good value.

You do realize you played prototypes of the game right, how do you know everything you experienced in the beta will be the game we get?

8 AntwortenBearbeitet von SolarCerberuS: 3/7/2016 11:06:56 PMAgreed I pre purchased division with high hopes unfortunately the game falls short on many levels. The following is my first impressions and I hope with full release and hours put in the game improves for me. 1. Its been done....Iv'e lost count as to how many movies and games are based upon majority of the human race being wiped out through a virus and then the remainder being left to scavenge and fend for themselves. The Division should have imo broken into the sci-fi cyberpunk genre then the all to familiar virus spin may have been passable. 2. Claims to be an open world sandbox.....how? Like Op said 95% of buildings are not accessible even the terrible cod franchise allows building exploration. 3. While pvp can offer interesting endgame you need pve to support or at least compliment it, especially when you can lose your gear in the DZ I expect many will rage quit because of this. 4. Loot and character customisation........what have they done....not only are they using the same old weapons from almost every true to world shooter out there your character looks like a homeless bum ...crossed with a college student. And who in their right mind thinks ingame trading is a good idea? because of this I doubt the game will have any replayability whatsoever. 5. Multiplayer, to me destiny was lazy with 6 man teams so anything less is just appalling 6-12 man teams or gtfo. TLDR ok to make it short you would have more enjoyment rooting a toaster on the highest setting.

Please tell me this is satire.....

I'll take note of this as I play the absolute shit out of it.

2 Antworten
Small map.
If the Division's map is small, so is Fallout 4, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, GTA5's city are all small maps. I can tell you're basing everything youre saying off of opinion and no facts so here's a fact for you: The Division's map is just as big as Fallout's

Division beta versus Destiny beta (and alpha).

My view is skewed differently, though.
Well Guardians, those of you that believe this foolish lie are wrong. The Division is not your next "Destiny." It cannot even begin to hold water in comparison. You will buy this game and realize this soon enough.
I think it's a little early (about 10 hours or so), to definitively say that yet, but we'll see. My counterpoints are below.
1) Too much walking, not enough action. Simply enough, the game overall lacks decent encounters and interactions while on the go. Where's the fun in not being able to explore and satisfying our curiosities?
Keep in mind that these public alpha and betas are less meant to be a preview of the game and more meant to be a stress test for the server and networking infrastructure. As I recall, from alpha to beta to beta2 there was progressively more content (though still small); I expect that much more will be in the final release not only in the dark zone, but also the rest of Manhattan. Again, PvE is something they can test internally; PvP is where they wanted to stress the game in the pre-release copies of the game.
2) Small map. This is pretty apparent, and goes a lot with what I mentioned above. Not only is there nothing to do, but there's even less space to do it in. I may be way off here, but it was my understanding that the actual game and subsequent DLCs will include the majority of Manhattan, Rikers Island, and probably some of Queens and the Bronx, and, in order to preserve the "wonder of exploration ", the alpha and betas were limited to a very small section of the eventual map. I doubt that the playing area is limited to what we saw in the pre-release alpha and betas. I don't think anyone has ever released all map content in an alpha or beta that is released outside of the studio.
3) Dark Zone lacking across the board. I expect the betas only showed a fraction of the missions and interactions they have in retail.
4) There is no "loot-drive." The number one thing that makes Destiny so compelling to play and dedicate hundreds of hours to is the loot system. As terrible as RNG may be, it keeps you playing the game. It keeps you wanting, groaning, carrying and fighting on, and finally celebrating. When you spend hours sitting in front of a cave, staring down your barrel aimlessly and shooting into it until it glows and radiates with engrams, then you know a game is good.
As I recall, the "loot/upgrade" mechanic is the entire reason the Dark Zone exists. All the powerful guns and gear are gathered and flown out so you can use them in the PvE side of things.
5) Let's Get Real. Do you really think you will find the same immersive and exhilirating multiplayer experience in The Division as you do in Destiny? I highly doubt it.
I think that will be very subjective and depend on each individual. I know that this week, Destiny will pretty much take a backseat as I try to determine if this new game will take possession of my "leading game" slot. I still don't know. I like what I've seen, but until I play the actual released version, I don't know if it will be compelling enough. "Let's get real." Honestly? Destiny won't die. The PvP side of things, despite the near constant nit-picking bitchfests, is simply the best feeling shooter on any console right now. That will carry it. Where it falls is where it shouldn't, though. The PvE/RPG side is so poor and neglected that I believe many of those players will jump ship, even if Bungie (predictably) announces a new Raid on Thursday to cauterize the wound. You really can't deny that of all the Bungie games made, this one has the worst story engine of all of them. Yes, the Grimore cards give backstory, but all that info should be accessible in-game, at the very least in the way Marathon did things. Make the Ishtar Library actually have a purpose: put in library consoles you can review grimore and ghost scans on in a fashion that makes the story readable and makes you want to go fill in the holes at least as much as grind for exotic engrams. This alone would do SO MUCH for this game.
Edit: Did I mention the horrible graphics?
I see little difference between the two here. Seriously. Washed depressing pallets and little sunlight. Just my $0.02. True story. (Edit: cleaned up grammar and phone-related spelling mistakes.) EDIT 2: looks like I was right on the scale: the game STARTS in Brooklyn...
