Almost every match I go into has someone equipping Ice Breaker or a sidearm (sometimes even an Invective) and the end result is people cheese it to get special ammo.
I don't play Trials that often, I never played it in year 1. But ever since Bungie did this I've seen more and more people use this cheap tactic to gain an edge on the opponent.
Its really cheap and it takes away from what Bungie was "Trying" to fix...
I've contemplated reporting people for cheating if they do this tactic but while most people would consider this cheating, I consider it unsportsmanlike. And as such I have yet to report someone, it just annoys the hell out of me.
I've never been to the lighthouse, I'm not really that good at crucible or any PvP for that matter. I don't think this is a matter of getting good either because I personally feel that anyone who does this tactic is a cheap player and can't play the way Bungie is "Trying" to get us to play.
Personally, I think Trials should be no radar, no heavy, no special period.

what if trials were just that? A parkour game mode?

Bearbeitet von dance4carrot: 3/7/2016 8:10:36 PMI haven't got a problem with the ammo cheese tbh. If it is a problem, why can't they just remove special ammo on weapon swap? Or why can't they have some kind of correlation between weapon light and armour light level? For example, when hitting a headshot, damage is weapon damage=weapon damage * attackers weapon light/targets helmet light. That would mean icebreaker does about half damage to someone wearing a 320 helm. Probably too hard to put in.

I love using Icebreaker for the 1st round and then switching to my party crasher... Then I'll pick up one special ammo crate in the 2 round and then I'm running around with 24 shotgun ammo. Don't have to worry about special for the rest of the game then. Shotgun wh0re 4 lyf

Side arm isn't that bad I just whip out the no land if I see them with it but ice breakers always ignite my try hard mode.

12 AntwortenThey should remove snipers from trials. That would be RAD!!!!
-
Except I have a side arm equipped because i really use a sidearm
-
sure bungie messed up the fix of special. but, you can use the same tactics the other team does. if they cheese the special, then you do the same if they don't, respect the other team and don't cheese it. wave off heavy and if you get a wave back, verify they are not taking the heavy and respect the other team for it. in the last two weeks i've seen more respect from trials players than previously. more primaries being used even if it is NLB. there are still those cheeses but, the tighter you squeeze the more slips through the cracks

4 AntwortenSome of us actually use the sidearm.
-
I like sidearms, tbh.
-
You can't really ban someone from using a side arm.. Using Icebreaker is worse then a side arm to start a match though
-
they should have made trials have something that hinders the use of year 1 weapons. Like a minimum light requirement of 305 or something like that. They shoulda known these knaves would find someway of getting special.

I didn't read the paragraph just the title but it the most competitive playlist in destiny and in any competitive game people will use anything they have at their disposal to win...
-
I use the sidearm. If I want to snipe I will play without ammo for a bit. I still have a gun to shoot and grenades.
-
Bungie has said they want player choice in weapons and armor... Why eliminate 2/3 of weapons in that game mode??? It's in the game for heaven's sake, not allowing players to use it is a crime to the paid customer. I'm average at PvP as well, but have found out that this "trick" really isn't that beneficial. Teamwork and strategy beat having a certain type of ammo.
-
Ice/invec has to create ammo so it still doesn't start them with it. Sidearms were designed to have ammo to make them more appealing to use but you can't snipe someone with it so it's all good.
-
1 AntwortenIf you got killed by a headshot with Ice Breaker on the first round... you deserved it, and that player deserves the special ammo he's going to get.

Bearbeitet von Diab3ticBatman: 3/7/2016 6:21:10 PMInvective doesn't give out ammo as fast as you think. It takes 3-4 minutes to get it to even start if it does at all. Icebreaker is only useful if they can snipe. Since we only have primary now just rush them and problem is usually solved. I'm not that good at pvp and don't use snipes but it's easy enough to deal with.

3 AntwortenIf they really want to fix this all they have to figure out is how to stop guns that regen ammo or spawn with ammo from passing over to another gun upon switching at death. That's it. Exploit fixed.
-
I agree with all but the no radar but I think they could reduce the range on it
-
They key here is your use of "Trying"... Bungie tried to fix special ammo in a way that doesn't work. That's not the players fault. It's on Bungie to come up with a solution that can't be circumvented.

5 AntwortenBoy, it's nothing like a solid show of the entitlement generation than posts like these. Destiny PVP is a game based around using special mechanics to achieve even the slightest edge over your opponent. That's why serious pvp players focus on perk enhancements on gear, and special perks on weapons. Was I surprised that bungie overlooked the weapons that regen special ammo when they brought this patch, no. But in honesty, I think they did it to give rookies a fighting chance. In round 1, if you have no weapons that regen special, if you lose, you get no ammo, while the other team might. If you have a weapon that regen special, and you lose, than you simply switch weapons and have special for your favorite special. If we remove guns that regen special from the equation, than in round 2, the team who lost round 1 is most likely facing a team loaded on special, while they have none. The advantage in this cannot be overstated. It's huge. However, if they were to completely remove special and heavy, as OP stated, trials would become incredibly stale. Because there would only be a handful of guns used, doctrine, mida, tlw. Some players who don't have these weapons compete by using special, but removing that, means those players will get wrecked by the meta weapons. My theory, is if it's in the game, it should be usable. IB, sidearms, invective, who gives a shit. Either play to beat your competition, or don't play at all. It's never serious trials players who come up with these posts either, it's always the filthy casuals.

But I use sidearms...
-
All they need to do to fix everything is fix the no special at start mistake they made by undoing it
-
Meanwhile I actually use my sidearm. :,(

2 AntwortenIt is what it is. I see nothing wrong with it. Especially Burning Shrine. The inside start point has an advantage on special ammo. In just about every shooter game you spawn with secondary ammo but just cause some crybabies can't adapt in Destiny they take it out......

If I use my sidearm, I actually use. The fire rate and close range damage is amazing.
