A "safe zone" can be a phyiscal place or even a state of mind - one can be "outside their safe zone" when standing in front of a crowd, giving a speech. I get very nervous in front of a crowd of people, so that is obviously not part of my safe zone. And being PC: Political correctness (adjectivally, politically correct, commonly abbreviated to PC[citation needed]) is a term primarily used as a pejorative to describe language, policies, or measures which are intended not to offend or disadvantage any particular group of people in society; in pejorative usage, those who use the term are generally implying that these policies are excessive.
