It's time...it's time for a nerf to the Doctrine!!
Okay, Guardians. It's time to mention this to the forums. This bitch of a gun is [b][i][u]way[/u][/i][/b] too good. It has the same fire rate as the Atheon's Epilogue and ridiculous stability with the right perks. It mows down every gun save The Last Word, which I've traded with before. The amount of flinch is dumb, and the way you can easily land headshots is even dumber!
[b]S[/b]o, to recap, I [b]a[/b]bsolutely hate [b]t[/b]he Doctrine of Passing. [b]i[/b]t fires too fast, with little to no [b]r[/b]ecoil, and makes it impossible for [b]e[/b]ven the overpowered TLW to take down.

On a more serious note because I know people really do want this weapon to be "fixed". Personally I wanted Doctrine to get some kind of nerf but honestly I can't think of a fair one. I tried over and over again to think of a fair and balanced one until it hit me. Doctrine doesn't need a nerf. It needs to be re-classed. Doctrine follows an interesting archetype of weapons, the higher RoF types. 2 other weapons that exemplify this family are Mida and TLW. Doctrine is completely fine as an insane RoF auto, but not as a legendary one. Doctrine has the Black Hammer quality of being Exotic quality but is classed as a Legendary. I would propose that Doctrine of Passing be made into an Exotic. It would still only be obtainable from ToO. Just a personal viewpoint on the weapon.

2 AntwortenIt's not overpowered honestly, because anyone with a half decent shot can also stagger the doctrine. That or you can nade and finish the guy off easier. It doesn't need a nerf, people just need to quit whining about getting killed by decent weapons

4 AntwortenI don't play in the crucible except to do the bounties and quests but I've noticed a couple things that make me sad mainly the last word. It isn't fair that they can just spray out all 8 shots before I can use the 3 it would take to kill with my hand cannon. Pretty much anything you can just spray upsets me.

I can't stand the gun, but it's not OP at all. The problem with the meta in my opinion has always been that there are a bunch of copy cats running around. People feel if they don't have the " meta" PvP set up that they can't compete. Couple that with those who don't play smart and/or aren't getting better, and everything is overpowered to them cause they keep getting killed by the same things. As much as I hate the doctorine it's an auto rifle, you're supposed to get mowed down. Sniper shots are supposed to kill in one or two shots, I just think they should de scope if they are getting dinged in the forehead by their target while lining up a shot lol.

I just dont see Bungie givin it the N word Its tough to get and you need to earn it rather than RNG it.... so it deserves to be a very solid gun and those that get it should get to have some fun. and no,I dont have one but I believe when something is tough to get,it should be worth getting and using instead of just being a trophy.

Btw, the DoP isnt overpowered its just consistent and has eged its way into the meta. Play the med/long range game and youll be fine. Or just keep getting shredded, you know whatever.

12 AntwortenThere are 2 types of people who use doctrine of passing, through hours spent playing trials I have gathered enough research so that I could share my findings with you people here. The first type. The people who pair doctrine with icebreaker a.k.a. the "bad sniper" This individual relies on their icebreaker the entirety of the game where as they need not run around for special so they can hopefully get some ez snipes. However if their icebreaker fails they have a fallback plan! Fear not, the doctrine is in! Basically if they don't get snipes they switch and stagger, rinse and repeat. And the 2nd type The guy that actually uses doctrine because he's bad This individual knows they have no chance in hell at getting to the lighthouse unless they use a gun more effective at staggering than the mida, without their bullet hose they would never make it past the 4th win. That's the research I've gathered and I hope that you find my results helpful.

In case you didn't know, that's archetype of auto rifle. Please name two other good year 2 "bullet hoses". There aren't any. It's not that it's overpowered it's just good. All weapons need to be rebalanced, but the doctrine of passing represents what the peak of that archetype of auto rifle is supposed to be.
