When a Sunsinger melees, they get a shield, and the enemy burns. But when a defender Titan melees, to get a shield that is a tiny bit stronger, the Titan needs to get a kill with the melee. This seems a bit unbalanced, especially considering the Titan will t-Rex arm half the time, whereas a warlock will snipe people with their melee...
Warlocks are getting pretty butt hurt over this post.... Lmao
Here's how a 1v1 melee battle with a warlock occurs (when Defender Titan gets first melee):
-Titan melees. Brings down shield and some health.
-Warlock melees. Gets shield. Burns Titan.
-Titan melees. Brings down shield and some more health of the warlock.
-Warlock melees. Titan dies.
Warlock has half health (not including the white shield thing on the health bar) and wins the melee battle, even tho the Titan melees first. Titan had no chance at getting a shield, because he needs to kill to do so.
And don't bring up No Backup Plans. You shouldn't need an exotic armor piece to make a melee ability relevant.
Edit 1:And no, a Titan does not have double the melee speed of a warlock. If they did though, maybe it would be balanced for a defender Titan.
Edit 2: Hunters, stop complaining about having no shields. You already have smoke that can make you invisible or slow a person, making them a sitting duck. You have a blade dancer melee that can one hit, and you have a throwing knife.
Edit 3: I'd much rather have a weaker shield on the first hit, then a stronger shield after the melee kill. It would make winning melee fights much more balanced, as it would actually depend on who hits first to win the fight.
Edit 4: Surprised I need to write this, but this post is about a Defender Titan not a striker who can shoulder charge.
Edit 5: ...and now hunters are getting butt hurt. I'm starting to understand the term "huntard". May start using it.
Edit 6: I need to start labeling my paragraphs above with numbers or letters. People seem to comment before the read...
Edit 7:I apologize for making this into a wall of text, but I found another post relating to this topic.
Would the general population of Destiny be happy or rage if melees were tweaked?
My idea: Flip the Sunsingers and Defenders melee overshields.
Everything else stays the same except what triggers the over shield.
Warlock: Same range. Same shield hitpoints. Still burns. Gets over shield on kill, not contact.
Titan: Same range. Same shield. No backup plan only triggers on shotgun kills. Gets force barrier on contact, not kill.
I think this will bring a good amount of balance without breaking anything.
For those that think people would flock to defender... Let's be honest here...

Edit 8: Since this has gotten a large amount of attention, here's what I think can be done about the guns of pvp, so that snipers are not as prevalent and primaries are more useful. This has zero relevance to the post btw. Just wanted to get my ideas out there:

HOW TO FIX PVP
The answer is pretty simple in my opinion, shorten the kill time for primaries by buffing the damage. People rarely use primaries anymore, which is due to the fact that it takes so long to kill with a normal damage primary weapon.
Because of the large amount of nerfs since release, the primaries have weakened considerably in this game. If primaries were buffed, to be balanced, snipers and shotties would not be used as a main weapon choice. There would be no need for any special ammo drop nerfs, nerf snipers flinch, and nerf shotgun damage. With better primaries, the game would simply be better.
Why this won't happen:
Cuz Bungie doesn't know the term "buff" They only know .04 percent of its true meaning.
So you get my point? Bungie doesn't need to reverse past nerfs, but they definitely should do some type of global buff to primaries, as this would allow for primaries to be used as a primary weapon choice.
And besides, the type of people who got us into this mess were the blueberries who die by something that's used often, and complain about it. Those people tend to be the thumbless and brainless, who have little experience with this game and have low stats.
Why am I annoyed? Because crucible plays like shit atm, and I've been through this way too often, where something is too weak and it is nerfed out of existence. Shotguns were the best choice for pvp, then they were nerfed, then snipers took their place, and now people want them nerfed. See a pattern?

Edit 9: Changing title in an attempt to soothe the warlocks butt-hurtiness... Lol

9 AntwortenHunter has no over shield ability whatsoever. Cry some more
-
Titans have a perk that constantly regenerates their melee shield. I use it all the time. Warlock get a slightly stronger shield, maybe, but once it's gone, it's gone. A smart, quick Titan can keep his shield up almost indefinitely while he has it active. A Warlock has only a few seconds to get the most out of his shield. The shields themselves are pretty well balanced against each other. They promote two different play styles.

10 AntwortenHunters don't even get shields
-
Warlocks should get a shield on kill Defenders should get a shield on hit Makes a lot more sense to me.
-
Classes are different, have different subclasses and setups. If they were all like-for-like wtf would be the point of having the variations? Each has their strengths and weaknesses. Not all are going to be directly comparable or balanced.

3 AntwortenStriker titans with a melee charge can also one melee kill any enemy that is running high agility, low armor builds, so kinda balances it.

10 AntwortenBearbeitet von Obi-RonKenobi: 2/27/2016 9:37:17 PMEdit: The warlocks melee is an energy blast. See animation. When a warlock performs life steal as a voidwalker. Flame shield as a sunsinger. Thunder strike as a storm caller. He/she is projecting energy and in some cases even stealing a bit of his/hers adversaries. Which is why there is range to the attack. There is no need for the hand of a warlock to physically touch the enemy. With this energy the warlock is able to regen health or produce a shield. The hunter uses a knife and the titan a punch. Neither use an energy blast. Which explains the range. For a warlock not to have range on the melee would be a fundamental change in the classes melee. And not a welcome one. Each class has unique abilities. Enjoy them.

Let's just make everyone hit each other with pillows? Sound good?

2 AntwortenI like how no one really complained in year one about the warlocks but all of these new people complain because they do not know how to counter other abilities and weapons very well and now want everything nerfed for them.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Walrus Walter: 2/28/2016 5:18:51 PMDefender Titan one is stronger, lasts longer, has perks that can make it even stronger, generate orbs, and regenerate the shield. You also have an exotic that triggers force barrier on shotgun kills and strengthens it. Warlock's have a little more range, dot, and a 12 sheild that is weaker. That's it.

7 AntwortenDisintegrate is innate. Flame shield is a perk.

2 AntwortenWell Titans have this thing called shoulder charge and it's a 1 hit
-
2 AntwortenYes because a smoke and a throwing knife is really going to save me when a titan is ramming his fist up my ass. The only way I would stand a chance is to play bladedancer(broken subclass)and get a lucky backstab(doesn't work every time).

5 AntwortenI think melee should be faster just because we are the only class that punches.... I mean it makes sense
-
A correction for the Bladedancer; Blink strike is the weakest melee in the game, often not even managing to make it through shields. If you were killed by a blink strike, you were outplayed.

1 AntwortenProbably wen to go with. But Titans are the tanks! They can handle it! BUNGIE LOGIC.

Bearbeitet von Spicy: 2/28/2016 5:15:31 PMWhere they went wrong here is making scorch the melee ability that burns. And having the overshield being one of the secondary perks for it. Absolutely no one uses Solar Wind or Brimstone so those perks are basically non existent. And since you use up scorch on hit rather than kill it grants Flame Shield on contact, don't know who thought that was a good idea, but they're really dumb. To balance it it should be the inverse, Flame shield is the melee ability that procs on kill, while scorch is the secondary that assists in getting the kill.

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Tamed: 2/28/2016 5:15:11 PMBuff force barrier to activate on hit but reduce the hp you get from it to be on par with flame shield.

14 AntwortenExplanation: The Defender melee has other perks. Quick reload when active, drops orbs, and continually recharges. If you do not like these perks, don't use the class. Use one in which the perks fit your style of play better.

Love all the warlocks trying to justify their crutch class by playing destiny on paper. Too funny.
