When a Sunsinger melees, they get a shield, and the enemy burns. But when a defender Titan melees, to get a shield that is a tiny bit stronger, the Titan needs to get a kill with the melee. This seems a bit unbalanced, especially considering the Titan will t-Rex arm half the time, whereas a warlock will snipe people with their melee...
Warlocks are getting pretty butt hurt over this post.... Lmao
Here's how a 1v1 melee battle with a warlock occurs (when Defender Titan gets first melee):
-Titan melees. Brings down shield and some health.
-Warlock melees. Gets shield. Burns Titan.
-Titan melees. Brings down shield and some more health of the warlock.
-Warlock melees. Titan dies.
Warlock has half health (not including the white shield thing on the health bar) and wins the melee battle, even tho the Titan melees first. Titan had no chance at getting a shield, because he needs to kill to do so.
And don't bring up No Backup Plans. You shouldn't need an exotic armor piece to make a melee ability relevant.
Edit 1:And no, a Titan does not have double the melee speed of a warlock. If they did though, maybe it would be balanced for a defender Titan.
Edit 2: Hunters, stop complaining about having no shields. You already have smoke that can make you invisible or slow a person, making them a sitting duck. You have a blade dancer melee that can one hit, and you have a throwing knife.
Edit 3: I'd much rather have a weaker shield on the first hit, then a stronger shield after the melee kill. It would make winning melee fights much more balanced, as it would actually depend on who hits first to win the fight.
Edit 4: Surprised I need to write this, but this post is about a Defender Titan not a striker who can shoulder charge.
Edit 5: ...and now hunters are getting butt hurt. I'm starting to understand the term "huntard". May start using it.
Edit 6: I need to start labeling my paragraphs above with numbers or letters. People seem to comment before the read...
Edit 7:I apologize for making this into a wall of text, but I found another post relating to this topic.
Would the general population of Destiny be happy or rage if melees were tweaked?
My idea: Flip the Sunsingers and Defenders melee overshields.
Everything else stays the same except what triggers the over shield.
Warlock: Same range. Same shield hitpoints. Still burns. Gets over shield on kill, not contact.
Titan: Same range. Same shield. No backup plan only triggers on shotgun kills. Gets force barrier on contact, not kill.
I think this will bring a good amount of balance without breaking anything.
For those that think people would flock to defender... Let's be honest here...

Edit 8: Since this has gotten a large amount of attention, here's what I think can be done about the guns of pvp, so that snipers are not as prevalent and primaries are more useful. This has zero relevance to the post btw. Just wanted to get my ideas out there:

HOW TO FIX PVP
The answer is pretty simple in my opinion, shorten the kill time for primaries by buffing the damage. People rarely use primaries anymore, which is due to the fact that it takes so long to kill with a normal damage primary weapon.
Because of the large amount of nerfs since release, the primaries have weakened considerably in this game. If primaries were buffed, to be balanced, snipers and shotties would not be used as a main weapon choice. There would be no need for any special ammo drop nerfs, nerf snipers flinch, and nerf shotgun damage. With better primaries, the game would simply be better.
Why this won't happen:
Cuz Bungie doesn't know the term "buff" They only know .04 percent of its true meaning.
So you get my point? Bungie doesn't need to reverse past nerfs, but they definitely should do some type of global buff to primaries, as this would allow for primaries to be used as a primary weapon choice.
And besides, the type of people who got us into this mess were the blueberries who die by something that's used often, and complain about it. Those people tend to be the thumbless and brainless, who have little experience with this game and have low stats.
Why am I annoyed? Because crucible plays like shit atm, and I've been through this way too often, where something is too weak and it is nerfed out of existence. Shotguns were the best choice for pvp, then they were nerfed, then snipers took their place, and now people want them nerfed. See a pattern?

Edit 9: Changing title in an attempt to soothe the warlocks butt-hurtiness... Lol

3 AntwortenWarlocks have good melees and grenades. Deal with it. Yes, Warlock melees are better than Titan melees. Is that unbalanced? No. You can't compare the effectiveness of multiple subclasses by one single ability. Warlocks are not OP because they have better melees. Bladedancers are not OP because they have blink and Gunslingers don't. Gunslingers are not OP because they have the best super in 3v3. Strormcallers are not OP because they have a better super for 6v6 than Strikers. Strikers are not OP because they have an ability that can one-hit melee you. JUST BECAUSE ONE CLASS HAS SOMETHING BETTER THAN ANOTHER CLASS DOES NOT MAKE SAID CLASS BETTER. I said this about Sunbreakers. Yes, they probably had the best super in PvP. They also had mediocre grenades, mediocre melees, and NO PASSIVE ABILITIES. But nope. People whined and guess what? Not too many Sunbreakers out there are there? Now everyone whines about Strikers. *sigh*

Oh more of this crap again. Do I seriously need to explain the benefits each class has with its Melee again?? Titan- Melee hits really hard, really fast, worse range. Hunter- average for all. Warlock- hits hard (not as hard at Titan), hits slow, best range.

Bearbeitet von InsectShelf3: 3/2/2016 2:02:12 AMSame with class exotic. Tlaloc gets a RoF boost and keeps its damage for only holding onto your super. Fabian gets a RoF boost but LOSES ITS DAMAGE for getting close and personal with MULTIPLE ENEMIES. It's so much more risky to use Fabians buff then tlaloc's. I wouldn't mind if Fabians bonus worked like tlaloc's. You just had to hold a super.

If a Sunsinger warlock manages to melee a guy shoulder charging before it hits, he will survive anyways. I would be so angry about the shield except that it has a 6m range and prevents you from taking crit damage unless it breaks the shield.

1 AntwortenDear sir, Not every ability of every class needs to be equally viable in every circumstance. Asymmetrical mechanics help keep the game interesting. Good day.
-
Space magic i guess

Being a warlock the melees are a bit bad compared to the others. But, if they make the defender give a shield at least I think it'll be fine since they've already buffed the range of the melee. They also nerfed the burn I believe, and the range on the melees. But it all somewhat balances out with other abilities. I can't tell you how fun my warlock is though, but when I play against a warlock on something else, who plays as good as I do on warlocks I cry
-
The KD statistics simply do not back your claim of OP.
-
Everyone should know what a warlock can do up close. So it should be common sense to not pick a fist fight with a space wizard. Use your damn sniper like everyone else does now a days. And if you're a shotgunner, play better. Shotty beats warlock melee
-
2 AntwortenDon't try to fist fight a sunsinger, problem solved. It's one of the perks of playing that particular class. Get over it and pick your fights better, or better yet, if your that close to a sunsinger just whip out your shotgun!!!! Holy crap counter play?
-
2 AntwortenThe whole idea of getting shields or health back from getting a melee hit/kill is stupid imo.
-
huehuehue am a smol turtle
-
2 AntwortenWell since we're being incredibly vague and assumptious, Titans can get an overshield with SHOTGUN kills! and Shotguns have much more range than melee!
-
I feel like titans should always win melee battles imo. It just makes sense.
-
14 AntwortenWhat about hunters. Worst melee in the game wtf
-
6 AntwortenA Titan can kill me with his melee while I'm in my radiant super. Explain that one to me!
-
2 AntwortenYou melee and get force barrier, which allows for faster weapon speed, back up alittle and pull shoty Done
-
1 AntwortenBearbeitet von WulfPak666: 3/1/2016 9:38:08 PMI can confirm that as a Warlock, my melee over shield rarely if ever protects me from jackshit. If you melee punch someone to get a shield, they just insta shotgun kill you anyway. Congratulations, you had an over shield for all of 2 seconds. :) Only thing it is even good for is trash mobs or surviving a major enemy attack for one more hit.
-
Each class has their thing, defenders can shut down supers with a grenade charge....
-
Not forgetting that Warlocks have the Ram to bolster their self-preservation.
-
2 AntwortenHahaha would be so funny to see all the Warlock rage if The shiet mechanics was flipped for defwnder and sunsinger :) (actually no these forums are allready to toxic) But ye i agree that The shield mechanic on defender should be on hit. The problem is that it would be op since there are perks streangthening defenders overshield. Recharge over time etc. So bungie would have to redesign that. And we all know that aint goin to happen ;)
-
14 AntwortenWhile I agree Warlocks have too much range on melee, Hunters have Throwing Knives which have way more range than Warlock melee and smoke pellets which are more versatile than Warlock melee.
-
5 AntwortenAlso, to my fellow Hunters. We have some of the most unique melee attacks in the game (i.e. smoke and throwing knives). Though I agree, throwing knife should deal more damage at least, because it's a bloody knife into your skull. But, if your a Huntard, disregard this and continue making a fool of yourself
-
Jesus I was waiting for Hunters to come up in the post. People sure love to complain about them complaining
-
3 AntwortenHunters = ranged melee So hunters just stop complaining about this post. Warlock sunsinger melee with the double melee = best melee setup in the game Pair double melee and double grenades and warlocks are beasts. Their jump sucks, though. The Titan melee needs to give the over shield on a hit, not kill. Aside from shoulder charge, the Titan melee is the worst. I have all three classes, so I'm not hating on one or the other. Defender Titans are the worst PvP subclass for most every situation. Give them a better melee to balance it out.
-
All I can say is... if you want the warlock(sunsingers) melee, you should roll with the warlock. There are different subclasses for a reason so learn their strengths and weaknesses and execute accordingly. The Titan melee is intended to finish the kill. I.e. Shotgun/last word then punch. Obviously the warlock melee gives you the choice to start or finish a battle with a melee.
