IB Rank 5 already...things I've noticed
Just hit Rank 5 on my Hunter, and these are tips and suggestions on how to not get your ass kicked this IB along with other things of note:
Important observations of IB:
1. It is blatantly obvious [b]SBMM is currently alive and well[/b]. I noticed MAJOR differences in quality of opponent between being in a fireteam with some lower skilled friends and going solo. Also getting the same reports from multiple other people.
2. Lag is still pretty bad. At least 2 red bars a match skipping around ignoring in-game physics and hit detection. It seems apparent to me that Skill is still the primary driver of Matchmaking and Connection is an afterthought.
3. Roughly 45% shotguns, 45% snipers, and 10% sidearms or fusion rifles (seeing more fusion rifles as IB goes on).
4. The three most used primaries are Docterine of Passing, MIDA, and TLW at a distant third.
5. Warlocks hold their Nova Bombs and Titans their FoH for shutting down other supers a majority of the time. It's Clash so chances of multi kills are low, so they save them for other supers.
6. 75% of players are either: Sniping, Head Glitching, &/or Corner Camping. The other 25% rush with shotguns, and most of them are Hunters.
Here's a few no-brainer tips:
1. At the beginning of the match, unless you're a great sniper, DON'T run to the sniper duels. Really. Don't even peek around the corner out of curiosity.
2. DON'T stand around in sniper lanes. Unless you're a great sniper with your scopes up. If you're not a good sniper, IB is not the place to practice. Keep in mind the sniper lanes may be behind you or to your side. Know your surroundings.
3. Pick your gun fights and know when to back out of one. If your shield is down, don't go gung-ho against full health guardians. If you're getting spanked in a gun fight, get out.
4. Use your team. Stick by them. If you're by yourself and getting surrounded or losing a gun fight, evade and run towards them. They will help you.
5. Know your opponents and the skill level in which you've been matched. The higher the skill level of Matchmaking, the more conservative you'll need to play.
These tips should help you to suck less. If you know these tips, but still continue not to follow them, well those deaths are on you.
That's all I've got for now. The one good thing about Clash is that the matches are shorter so raking up should be a little quicker.

Edit 1: Just hit Rank 5 with all 3 characters. To follow up, I've amended some of my observations. Seems the meta has shifted slightly since Wednesday and other things have been made more apparent.
Edit 2: Rearranged the order of my observations. I think the fact that SBMM is still implemented is the biggest thing I can tell you guys.

Bearbeitet von The Woolldozer: 2/26/2016 4:40:25 PMI can confirm #5 because to prove a point to a negative K/D guy that claimed he was getting matched against 2%ers, I found the K/D of the top scorer of the last 5 games he played and the K/D of the top scorer of my last 5 games. The results: His games: 0.76, 0.88, 1.01, 0.78, 0.54 My games: 1.57, 1.21, 1.34, 1.45, 1.34 It isn't even "remnants", that's straight up SBMM.

Almost everything up there is true for me. Except I never use snipers and this Banner I rolled with my NLB and shotty. I practiced my sniping and to be honest, I only had one match where I kept getting out sniped. And i was rushing like nobody's business with my NLB so I guess there are outliers. All those damn Voidwalkers and Strikers though.....popped my bubble's more times than i can count 1 thing you didn't mention: LOTS OF LAG

I did great rushing with a shotgun day one but ever since I've been shut down with snipers around every corner. Any gun with high caliber rounds has been my best friend this IB.

When I'm in a team with my friends that are super good (I'm not tho) we get matched against other good players and I finish last every game. When I play solo I stomp out scrubs left and right. For me this makes it not much fun at all. Playing solo is boring and lame, I want to be able to chill with my buddies without getting super frustrated that I can't seem to get any kills. Also, connection based matchmaking isn't helping either (both connection and skill based matchmaking are happening together atm). My connection is perfect but if I'm in a team there's people spread out all over the country so we all have a laggy connection except the host. But the game picks players for the other team partially based on their connection to the host, so a team of solo players will all be geographically close to each other and therefore have a slight connection advantage.

2 AntwortenI've very rarely used mida at all in crucible in general, let alone iron banner. Hell in crucible I've been using necrocasm just me be an ass and to mess with something different. Iron banner it's either been my grasp or ib Scout for primary and then chaperone.

2 AntwortenSurprised the other team today by landing a grenade right at the heavy and took out three guardians. I killed myself because it was vertigo and I fell off the map after that. I positioned myself so that I knew I'd die but I would deny most the other team the 1st heavy round. It turned the entire match to our favor as we were down by a 1000 and we went on to win by 2000 points. High risk move going in solo but it's sometimes worth it to be the spoiler.

2 AntwortenSome things I've noticed... By and large most games seem pretty even when there isn't a large fireteam. I mean games are decided usually within 1000-2000 points, no one dominated the match most people are running about a .75-1.50 K:D ratio. On Control it was not uncommon for me to run 2:0 K:D but I'm struggling this IB usually finishing around a 1.25ish but I'm not unhappy about it because most people, at least in the matches I've played are finishing around that also. Now, add in a 4-6 man Fireteam and the whole dynamic changes. What I've seen if you don't even have to check the rosters when you get into the game, and see anywhere from 4+ players sitting at the back spawn with snipers, good chances are you're playing against a fireteam. They stick together (naturally) and camp there spawn, makes the game extremely slow and boring. Usually I leave those matches, another reason I wish they would have added Freelance for IB especially for game modes like Clash. The connections seem "ok" at best. In regards to Fireteams above, most of the time when there I saw there was a Fireteam, there was at least one of them with a red bar, hence making most of their fireteam hard to kill, it takes me 6-8 bursts with my Malok to kill them while they kill me in 2 bursts of a Nirwens for example. Again, these matches I've left. Not considering fireteams, you would still get the occasional red bar but it seemed less frequent except a few rare yellow bars. That aside, the games still present some hit detection and ag problems. I'm wondering if Bungie's tweaks to SBMM/CBMM include just making connection bars mostly show green and not really having updated anything whatsoever to their netcode. Wouldn't surprise me really. You're advice above is pretty spot on though, the reality is with all the sniping you have to really take things a lot slower and try not to rush, even if you flank and get to the back/side of the snipers you usually are flanking at least about 3 players, you may get , maybe 2 kills but the third will get you, unless they are just incompetent players but even still with the radar there its still difficult regardless, some games I tried flanking and they were pretty decent players so they would bust out there TLWs and mow you down right when youre about to get the jump on them so you have to stay back. As far as the loot goes, well my 3 chars are rank 3 I don't play the crap out of the game that much, after 5-6 rounds of IB I usually switch chars or find something else to do to give myself a break, but the loot so far is, weird at best. My Hunter has gotten and I kid you not, 4 IB Arms this IB (He already 2) in his inventory, my Titan got one as a drop but it had Fusion Rifle reload (We all know how useful that is) and my Warlock got a pair. I know as I rank up it opens up the pool of items you can get. Side note: Any/all weapons I've seen drop have absolute junk for perks...mostly the newer perks that no one wants, I haven't gotten any weapons but I feel bad for the ones who have and got lame perks. It reminds me of Grasp of Malok farming, believe it or not I've farmed 9 so far, only one had Perfect Balance and Rangfinder which are decent but the third perk is Guerilla Fighter, which is, useless. Anyway, just my two cents.

Agreed. I feel like SBMM is still there, only this time around they "painted" red bars green. There are guardians obviously lagging, yet everyone has a green bar. I wouldn't put it past Bungie to do this and not tell us, much like they did in the past so it doesn't effect their "experiment". We're all just some giant social experiment to them. Not mention the weekly updates can be condensed into a 140 character tweet. Sprint lock is still a thing. 299 and lower guardians are dealing/receiving the same damage as 315+ guardians in IB. Just my 2 strange coins

I ranked two of my friends characters to rank 5 and am currently working on my first character. Which is at rank 4 & a half, and really the only big issue I have is the lag. Being shot through walls and not having hits register or if they do its really delayed and the person still kills me. Other then that, this is so much better then Rift.

I main void walker and I always save my nova bomb for heavy, iv pulled quit a few 5/6 pieces with it this iron banner.

Recently been playing more as a Hunter....as a warlock main (used to be 3 locks) I honestly feel for you guys. I think GG needs an armor piece (helmet) that brings up a flame shield upon activation. Just a tiny bit more armor to survive a 1 hit energy drain/scorch or shoulder charge.

Believe it or not the Doom of Chlechis shreds in banner same for any heavy MG Qulliums Terminus my fav, for AR i use my Zhalo thing still shreds and i live and swear by my Radiant Dance machines you combine that with a Boohoolian Gemini and the speed and armor stacks are also really really nice. Another good pointer sidearms the Ironwreath-d is a monster., and dont forget to use your shadestep ability gets you out of tough binds.... the least favorite thing ive noticed is omg the camping in one room tactic is so stupid and annoying specially if your alone and working with some unknowns who cant find there way out of a paper bag no one can go in that said room if the other team is good at TW. and last HAVE FUN...omg so many people bitching and crying non stop yes there are lag switchers and people who play to find exploits but that is the way with online games... p.s. # please RNGesus let me get a exotic primary engram and let it be a mida multi tool i missed it when xur sold it during the holidays and now its become the new Ghjallahorn for me in which I CANT SEEM TO GET ONE but everyone in IB seems to have one just saying I am not of fan of being killed by a gun i dont have...
