I have no problem with snipers themselves, I don't really feel like they're all that great, but the sheer number of players using snipers in Iron Banner is honestly ruining the flow of the game. It's currently slowed down way too much because people fear being picked off around every corner they turn, and certain parts of maps are being shut down completely by just 1-2 people using snipers. Something needs to be done with the other three special weapon types so players are more likely to use all four types equally, instead of 95% using just snipers. It's getting quite ridiculous now, and there's a large number of my friends deciding to skip iron banner, and the crucible all together because of it, which I find sad.
Edit: This has nothing to do with being killed by a sniper or that I think they're overpowered. This is about the amount of people using them and how it ruins the flow of the maps and game in general. Please stop responding with the typical "learn how to counter it" that has nothing to do with anything, even when I do flank them and everything suggested, I can't do anything about teammates that still continually run out and get picked off trying to counter snipe, and other stupid shit that eventually loses the game.
Edit: Day 4 of Iron Banner, started to play on my hunter after achieving rank 5 on my warlock. The land is still corrupt with red glows as far as I can see.
Turn a corner, get picked off.
Run to cover, get picked off.
Enter a room, get picked off.
Use super, get picked off.
Out shoot enemy, get picked off by said enemy at any given range.
Spawn, get picked off.
Return to orbit, get picked off.
This is just sad.

Well that's what happens when everything gets nerfed. The last shotgun nerf shifted a lot of people to snipers. Between that and the fact that two of the most common primaries right now (doctrine and last word) absolutely dump on shotguns, you are going to see a lot more sniper use. Fusions and sidearms are barely in the equation. As much as some people swear by them and some may be good weapons, they just aren't used as much. I still mostly run a shotgun in crucible because I just don't enjoy sniping. It's still not a bad way to go as long as your not challenging doctrine and last word users but it's not hard to see why so many have gone to snipers.

Still better than shotgun sniping.
-
3 AntwortenAt least there's less shotgun sliders
-
There's a alot of snipers but I'm good at keeping away from there snipe lanes and taking paths not traveled much

I don't play PVP that often. Banner is certainly something I try and get into. In PVP I try and find a groove for the best special weapons for a particular map and stick to my fav primaries / heavies (still the hacksaw and barons ambition). Snipers seem to be the most efficient special on most maps at the moment; and I suspect other players feel the same way. Perhaps this is less a gun balance/dominance issue and more of a map issue. There aren't really any strictly close quarters maps in Destiny... Where fusions, sidearms and shotguns would clearly give you an advantage.

5 AntwortenI have to agree. This iron banner is awful with the amount of snipers. Sure they've been around since the start, but you can't honestly say that it hasn't gotten considerably worse lately. Telling people to stay out of sniper lanes isn't exactly solid advice. There's definitely people who run out in the open and get domed. Sure, they deserve that for being frittata's. It's the mere fact that every spot on the map is effectively a sniper lane now. And the, "running around with your head cut off" argument is just turrible. Stop it. Countering with scout rifles is definitely an option. Again, not always effective. Unless i get the jump on the guy (he's not hardscoping down the hallway when i enter), i feel like 8 times out of 10, he'll still get the headshot off. Even while pumping bullets into his head. Unless he's just an awful sniper. I personally haven't used a sniper in months. I don't even own a 1000-yard stare, having dismantled them all a long time ago. But i don't ever recall sniping to be this demoralizing. It's on par with the final round garbage. At least then you had to waste all but one bullet.

7 AntwortenSnipers need a buff
-
12 AntwortenI put a sidearm on and got 19 kills with it in one match. Easily shit on hard scoping snipers and the one guy trying to slide into range with his shotgun. Flank a sniper. He ded.
-
1 AntwortenJust remove the Radar when a sniper is equipped in the Special slot This would sort out a lot of the issues
-
1 AntwortenOk, I'll use my shotgun.
-
1 AntwortenAlright I'll be using Felwinters Lie.

Dude if everyone on the other team is sniping that leaves a lot of room and time to flank. I played memento last night four out of six guys were scoped in. If you had just two guys go surprise their flank, They'd probably be caught off guard lol.

I hate it, it basicly makes me use mida most of the time, I can't count on any other weapon to take down a hardscoping tryhard.

It's making the gameplay very slow and annoying. Having complete fire-teams camping in clash just doesn't feel right. It's called CLASH not SitOnTheSameSpot for 10 minutes. This all could be undone if Bungie stops releasing meta data. They are so vague with all the weekly updates yet patch notes about weapon data contain more content than the game itself. They should just keep the weapon buff/nerf info simple like * updated sniper meta * updated auto rifle meta Etc and leave it at that.

I just recently started using snipers because I got tired of going around a corner and seeing 4 red beams glaring me in the face. Fight fire with fire. The only way I see to fixing this is making maps smaller, similar to Sector 618. There aren't many sniper lanes (if any) and too many tight corners and clutter spaced out around the areas. Making more maps like these will certainly get ppl to switch between weapons.
-
1 AntwortenIt's been that way for awhile now. That and mida.
-
1 AntwortenYes had this in couple games was on bannerfall whole team was camping out at the tree covering lanes everywhere

True say

1 AntwortenBody shots need to be reduced. To those that say aim assist does matter, well I'd love to see you snipe in CoD, Battlefield, Counter Strike, etc. Basically any other shooter. Destiny probably has triple the aim assist over all of them which is why any shit player can pick up a sniper and be good with it.

I somewhat agree, I have no problem with snipers but when every Tom, Dick and Harry are using them, there's no variety and it's boring, save for the odd shotgunner. But unfortunately until other weapons are buffed to the point that they become good options again it's going to stay that way.

Countering snipers with a scout rifle works out for me. Personally I'm using the Jade Rabbit, which is perfect for this IMO. Now what if the other guy is a little above average with sniping? Even when pumping him with headshots he still finds the stability/accuracy to land headshots (or bodyshot for that matter). I find something needs to be done about that, doesn't make sense to me. Still, I don't find snipers need to be nerfed, even though I choose not to use them. But just like op said.. the number of people using them is just too high
-
Tbh I'm not powering through Iron Banner for the drops this time. I'm dipping in and out. Tho I've lucked out and had a couple of matches where more people have used shotguns than sniped, and that was really refreshing and forced me to swap tactics.

Bearbeitet von シOblivionシ: 2/26/2016 9:03:06 AMI think it's funny to watch snipers crawling along with it scoped. There was a whole team of invis hunters doing it lol. I walked up behind them, tapped them on the shoulder, then put a shotgun in their ear and pulled the trigger. I killed so many of them rushing with my shotgun I thought they might give it up. Nooooooo they're still stupid.
