The number of people using snipers is ruining Iron Banner.
I have no problem with snipers themselves, I don't really feel like they're all that great, but the sheer number of players using snipers in Iron Banner is honestly ruining the flow of the game. It's currently slowed down way too much because people fear being picked off around every corner they turn, and certain parts of maps are being shut down completely by just 1-2 people using snipers. Something needs to be done with the other three special weapon types so players are more likely to use all four types equally, instead of 95% using just snipers. It's getting quite ridiculous now, and there's a large number of my friends deciding to skip iron banner, and the crucible all together because of it, which I find sad.
Edit: This has nothing to do with being killed by a sniper or that I think they're overpowered. This is about the amount of people using them and how it ruins the flow of the maps and game in general. Please stop responding with the typical "learn how to counter it" that has nothing to do with anything, even when I do flank them and everything suggested, I can't do anything about teammates that still continually run out and get picked off trying to counter snipe, and other stupid shit that eventually loses the game.
Edit: Day 4 of Iron Banner, started to play on my hunter after achieving rank 5 on my warlock. The land is still corrupt with red glows as far as I can see.
Turn a corner, get picked off.
Run to cover, get picked off.
Enter a room, get picked off.
Use super, get picked off.
Out shoot enemy, get picked off by said enemy at any given range.
Spawn, get picked off.
Return to orbit, get picked off.
This is just sad.

I had more issues with shotguns and doctrine than anything. Rumble is still shotgun dominate, 3v3 game modes are the only game mode I see snipers are prevalent and that's bungie fault. If they didn't have those damn revive shields then people wouldn't be using snipers so much.

3 Antwortenhow incontestable snipers are is what's ridiculous. No way to beat them besides out-sniping them. Can't challenge them w. Any primary unless you're up hella close, then you stand a chance. In which case, they just whip out TLW and you lose that gunfight too. I am speaking on 1v1 scenarios of equal/higher skilled players. There's 3 weapons that compete w. Each other in Y2. Last Word, Doctrine, Grasp. If you're using any other primary & are versing another equal/higher skilled player using one of those 3, it's highly unlikely that you will prevail in that gunfight. I'm excluding all Y1 options...such as Thorn, Praedyth's Timepiece, Time on Target, etc etc. snipers have nowhere near enough flinch. I'm literally making a montage of getting a full burst to the head on somebody yet still getting headshot by their sniper rifle. Happens the majority of the time that I challenge w. A primary. It's pretty sad honestly. Other issue is the special ammo changes. I agree w. Them. But what's the point in implementing them when there's such a simple loophole.? Everyone's just starting w. Sidearms, invective, and icebreaker anyway. Literally a useless change for the most part. This meta is literally the most unbalanced the game has ever had. Not only that, but it promotes [i]the[/i] most boring gameplay. Trials has turned to shit because of it too. If you don't snipe you're literally punished when playing against teams who do. But something that I do need to say, is that I'm not arguing about aim assist. And I'm not saying that smiling in general doesn't take skill. I don't believe either of those things. I have tremendous respect for players who use snipers and still play aggressively. I have zero respect for players who abuse the fact they're using a weapon that takes 95% of your health w. A finger shot by holding hands and sitting in an stra hard scoping every entrance to where they're at. that shit, is what's ridiculous, because if you do that, you WILL win any game that you're playing.

Special boxes are still all over the map and easy to continually replenish. They need to just make special drop on a timer like heavy every 3-4 minutes, start people with 5 rounds or no special ammo so they have to actually prioritize when they use their special ammo. Also perks like Invective and sidearms auto regening ammo on death should be disabled. Specials are still used as primaries and that is the biggest issue with them. Also 1000-yard stare with its no skill aim assist is just ridiculous at this point.

The issue is with the maps. Most of the maps in rotator ion especially those added from the dlc are all lane based. Because of these lanes snipping and camping become much easier to do. The issue is that with lanes it only leaves two to three straight forward paths towards the enemy which means that they can just sit there scoped in with a sniper waiting and you have pretty much no other way to get to them except to go straight down the lane. If we had more maps like fire base Delphi that old moon map that is now only in larger game types and even anomaly where you have multiple ways to get around towards the enemy.

1 AntwortenI'll gladly take snipers over BS shotguns. I do feel snipers should flinch a lot more when shot, and there should be no aim assist, or at least less aim assist. I'm a sniper myself, and there's been many times where I should've died when getting shot. But because I didn't flinch, I got them.
