Edit 4: I deeply regret trying to have a conversation here. My goodness. Thanks for the trending though.
Edit 3: Cancer
Edit 2: Oh boy I didn't know this was trending. Thanks to some of you for not being.....ya know.
Edit: Ok, for everyone saying this is dumb because in real life things don't work this way, do I need to remind you that you are playing a video game where there are people that can shoot space magic out of their hands, defy gravity, and come back from the dead? Im asking you guys if this can work mechanically in THIS game. NOT in real life.
------------------------------------------
Ok before I even pitch this all I'm gonna say is please be gentle. I promise I'm not trying to say you're good or bad for sniping at close range blah blah blah git gud scrub etc. Just thought of an idea.
What if snipers in PvP Destiny had a mechanic where the farther away someone is the more damage your sniper will do, and the closer you are the less damage it will do? The idea would be that the farther away an opponent is the more momentum the bullet gains allowing it to hit targets farther out harder. This would make it less common to get sniped body shot and tapped to death at close range by snipers and reinforce that it's meant for longer range. This would also mean that res sniping at point blank range would be less effective and that you'd need shotguns more so for close range engagements. Do you guys think this could work MECHANICALLY in the game without making snipers a bad weapon choice?
Just wanted to toss that out and see what you guys thought with the hope you all don't turn me around and kick my ass out the door. At the very least couldn't this be a good idea for an exotic perk?

25 AntwortenBearbeitet von argo206: 2/23/2016 9:53:31 PMThis is a stupid idea because it's harder to snipe up close. High risk high reward.. Why take away the reward? Edit: I'm assuming OP is a self Rez warlock who keeps getting sniped. I feel you man, it's one of my favorite classes but if they're that good of a sniper that they get you every time they're probably gonna get you any ways.

3 AntwortenSo they 1-shot in the body from long range?
-
As long as I can still one-hit a roaming super through the skull up close.
-
2 AntwortenThis would be counter intuitive, learn to bob and weave scrub

1 AntwortenLmao I read the edit. "That's not how this works, irl." Seriously? You wouldn't be able to actually use a sniper rifle at close range, IRL. Some people are just dumb. On topic: Eh, that wouldn't really work. The best thing they can honestly do is nerf body shot damage, forcing more emphasis on headshots, and increase zoom, that way it's more promoted to use snipers at longer ranges but it still doesn't change that most of the maps have pretty good sniper support, so... No real way to fix snipers without someone getting shafted.

1 AntwortenI think you touch upon a good point that snipers are always meant to be intended as the long range special archetype. Every other special weapon has specific range for optimal use. Snipers does not follow suit because of their short range scopes, QuickDraw and snap shot. Destiny is the only snipers don't feel like snipers. There basically 1-2 shot scout rifle with less ammo. If you asked me, scope zoom for all snipers should be increased by 30% and the ADS time should also be increased by 30%. Additionally when snipers are equipped mobility adjustments need to be made as they did for shotguns. Also no sniper and I mean no sniper regardless of perks should be able to one shot res snipe. It's too easy in 3v3 playlists to stand there and snipe away. Hate on me and my scrub KD and whatever but I'm relaying what a lot of people feel especially when it come to elimination playlists

1 AntwortenNa, why not reward a good shot?
-
13 AntwortenChange the size of the hit box, take away all aim assist, make the impact be decided by scope if you want low zoom you get low impact, high impact high zoom
-
4 AntwortenGuys do you know in real life shotguns would kill you 1 shot from faaaaaar
-
1 AntwortenInteresting idea forcing weapons to be used in its intended positions in the game. Would definitely cause people to think what secondary they would use
-
May as well stuff a sniper up your ass and call it good if this actually was a new mechanic I would blame you and stick icebreaker in to your no land beyond while your mom stares from 1000 yards out
-
better to just make them shoot at the ground if you pull the trigger while running or just after stopping. Or drastically slow the amount of time it takes to raise the gun.
-
1 AntwortenOne shot bodies across the map on First Light. Anyone feel me?
-
It would be the opposite if anything
-
Nah. Just learn how to counter better.
-
What about git gud?
-
This isn't practical. If snipers were to be adjusted, it should only be with handling time. Ready/Stow time needs to be adjusted to make you think twice about engaging with a sniper. In the current state, it is simple to easy to body shot someone, quickly switch to your primary to finish them off. Snipers are to reward precision, and should punish missed precision shots. Close range sniping would not be as common if this was to be implemented.

Bro this game has to be realistic. I mean everything else about it is totally realistic so snipers have to be too

Most dumbest thing ive heard this month....
-
Read the headline, jumped right to the comments. This helps immensely.
-
Wtf did I just read. o______o

So we're shooting rocket powered bullets (or any type of ammunition with gradual acceleration)? Fine. But only do this for bodyshot damage. You honestly can't complain if you get quickscoped and he domes you.
-
Why are all you people on here so dumb. It hurts me lmao
-
2 AntwortenClose range snipin is a skill in every game FPS. Halo was hard as hell but I worked my ass off to learn how to scope close up and no scope. You can just nerf something that people have learned to get good at.
