Edit 4: I deeply regret trying to have a conversation here. My goodness. Thanks for the trending though.
Edit 3: Cancer
Edit 2: Oh boy I didn't know this was trending. Thanks to some of you for not being.....ya know.
Edit: Ok, for everyone saying this is dumb because in real life things don't work this way, do I need to remind you that you are playing a video game where there are people that can shoot space magic out of their hands, defy gravity, and come back from the dead? Im asking you guys if this can work mechanically in THIS game. NOT in real life.
------------------------------------------
Ok before I even pitch this all I'm gonna say is please be gentle. I promise I'm not trying to say you're good or bad for sniping at close range blah blah blah git gud scrub etc. Just thought of an idea.
What if snipers in PvP Destiny had a mechanic where the farther away someone is the more damage your sniper will do, and the closer you are the less damage it will do? The idea would be that the farther away an opponent is the more momentum the bullet gains allowing it to hit targets farther out harder. This would make it less common to get sniped body shot and tapped to death at close range by snipers and reinforce that it's meant for longer range. This would also mean that res sniping at point blank range would be less effective and that you'd need shotguns more so for close range engagements. Do you guys think this could work MECHANICALLY in the game without making snipers a bad weapon choice?
Just wanted to toss that out and see what you guys thought with the hope you all don't turn me around and kick my ass out the door. At the very least couldn't this be a good idea for an exotic perk?

1 AntwortenSo instead of damage drop off Snipers have damage drop on?
-
And here we have another nonsensical argument in bungie forums, what a place
-
I think it would cause more camping snipers honestly.
-
Maybe mess accuracy, not damage that wouldn't make sense
-
The better answer is to slow weapon handling dramatically.

Bearbeitet von Raider TCK: 2/25/2016 11:24:24 AMMechanically it wouldn't make sense. Although from a gameplay perspective it would work. I think they should lower base impact, but buff Crits. So more snipers could revive kill, but body shotting then swapping to primaries would be less effective. Reducing draw speed and weapon handling would be a good touch.
-
Allthough it sounds weird, i think it would improve gameplay.
-
The real answer is to remove a players radar after scoping in, for 5 seconds or so. No more quick looks at radar.
-
I like this idea
-
Yeah and also make shotguns more powerful from long distances......
-
While this is very illogical, it would make snipers strict long range weapons, as intended.
-
Lol. How about more damage at close range.
-
I won't even begin to go into how illogical this is...

Bearbeitet von Zenteion: 2/25/2016 10:09:07 AMMake all the scopes have long range zooms, body shots take 3 hits for a kill, remove snapshot and reduce aim assist. done
-
I think to stop people using them at short range, maybe take away the aim assist from the short scopes and put on the long range ones. People twnd to go for the aim assist but it will be hard to get a close range kill with a massive zoom scope.
-
I dont really like this idea, instead add scope away and more flinch.
-
You cannot make these huge changes cause of you want a game of all shotguns that's exactly what your gonna see
-
Instead of trying to balance debuff stats to a variety of snipers, wouldn't it just be easier to get rid of all scopes but extremely long range ones?
-
1 AntwortenMaybe remove all weapons, run around with a pitchfork :). Just a thought

10 AntwortenIm not going to point out the fact that bullets lose energy with distance. What I will say is this: Snipers are long range scouts that loose rate of fire, ammo capacity and CQB handling. If anyone wants to use it for a close encounter, let them. If anyone masters their use for close encounters, there should be no 'penalty'. The weapon should not change characteristics simply because someone used it for a short range encounter. This continual complaining about weapon quality has gone past point. There is no nerf/buff in the strategy department. When anyone gets killed by a weapon in a situation they feel should not have been possible, the gun is attacked instead of the player's stupidity. It's gone on too long and too far. Learn to play a combat simulation or find a nice safe game. Stop begging for less effective guns to compensate for complete lack of ability. Enough...

2 AntwortenThen what's the point of noscoping a shotgunner when they're right in front of you and you weren't paying attention.
-
1 AntwortenWhat if you dont put your head infront the bullet?
-
It wouldn't Make sense.
-
At first I thought this was a stupid idea. Actually, though, when you put it the way you did... I actually agree. It will make me a sad sniper (maybe leave NLB outta this because it's such an interesting, unique sniper) but I feel like it's a good balance, and I like the idea of an almost anti-range stat, where you have damage buildup instead of falloff. Smart thinking there. ;)
-
Interesting idea, but let's take it a different way so close range sniping is impossible all together. Sniper rifles fire teleporting bullets, they launch from the barrel and then don't exist till out past melee range (melee range based on Warlock max melee range BTW). Then we don't need to scale damage with distance.
-
This doesn't make any sense. What about removing all low zoom scopes?
