Edit 4: Vault of Glass. Oracles. The third oracle on the left, or L3, also known as back left. The Templar also spawns there. This area is the same orientation as the Oryx room. Guardians spawn on one side, Templar spawns on the opposite. Yet the Templar is commonly considered to be at the back as well as those two "hidden" oracles.
Golgoroth. The first orb that everybody uses is the first one on the left (L1) compared to where you enter. Front left. The thrall and acolytes spawn at the back. Same orientation as the Oryx room.
Now all the sudden you get to Oryx and this logic is gone. Just pretend those pads are Golgoroth's orbs. The first one on the left would be front left. But why is the first pad (also known as L1) on the left widely considered the back? And the second one on the left (L2) is now the front? You guys aren't thinking clearly.
Original post: You walk in the room, you are at the front of the room. You move to the opposite end, you are now at the back. I dgaf where Oryx spawns. I am not Oryx. Plus Oryx moves around the room so you can't always call him the front. Its also not the front of the Dreadnaught as you can look out the BACK and see the dreadnaught keeps running out for miles.
Prove me wrong.
Edit: When you play pvp, the enemy team spawns on the other end. Is that end the front or back? It's the back.
Edit 2: "In front of you" and "the front of a room" are two entirely different definitions. The front of the room is always a set area that is always there no matter where you're looking at. It has to do with the architecture (Oryx is not part of the architecture he is a living thing in the game world). Whereas what's in front of you is different depending on which direction you're facing. On a baseball diamond, the back is always on the opposite end as the bat catcher even though its always in front of him. If he were to look behind him or even to the side, the back of the diamond is no longer in front of him, but its still the back of the diamond.
Edit 3: Why is everyone comparing Oryx's room to a classroom or a theatre? It is not either of those. I'm not going in there to learn anything and I'm not going in there to watch a movie. You don't even need to look at Oryx, he is not the focal point. The majority of the time you actually do have to look at him is when hes at the side. Plus he moves all around the room. Last time I checked the screen at the movies didn't move around, and Oryx wasnt a screen that displayed movies for people. If you played the raid from the get-go and had no idea where Oryx spawned, you wouldn't be calling that side the front. You'd be calling the side where you come in the front. And true story: people called entrance side the front before people started calling it the back. You guys only twisted it with flawed logic. Front and back of rooms are based on the architecture (like a movie screen or a chalkboard). No piece of interior architecture in Oryx's room indicates saturn side being the front. The back of a room can still be "in front" of you but that doesn't mean its the front.
Secondly, you can't be looking at the overall ship. We are inside the ship and the ship has rooms. Oryx's room may be the bow but we are still inside. It is a room, there is a ceiling, one wall, and support columns. Rooms have defined fronts and backs. Usually the main entrance is the front, in this case, the only entrance is the front.

I agree with you but it's a matter of prospective.

1 AntwortenWhys this an argument? Shoot the same shit everyone else shoots...

Thats because for reading purposes you evaluate from right to left from the top of the page. By visualy angleing the room so that faces you as though looking at it as a picture on a wall L1 would be in the top left corner of the page, making it the starts point and thus the front of that room. I mention this because oryx is such a prominent thing characteristicly and objectivley in that room that rather than viewing the room in the "on the wall" perspective, you view it in the top down perspective which would place him at the front of the room rather than the back. Another reason for it being the front of the room is because its an open area rather than an actual room making the largest viewable point the "front" the largest viewable point would be saturn, which coincidently is right behind oryx. Finally, theirs because litteraly everyone else says so. And we have whats called the "michael jackson effect" where if a few people say something it can easily be dismissed, but when EVERYONE says the same thing, then sorry bud but its true now.

5 AntwortenIt's like a church or throne room. The door is at the back. The king or priest would not be in the back.

I'm pretty sure people were talking about the dreadnaught itself when they said Oryx was in the front, which is right. It looks like you're talking about just the area/room the Oryx fight takes place in.

Bearbeitet von EARWAK3R: 2/24/2016 3:03:25 AMDo people still even need to call out plates anymore? I havnt heard anyone go on about front and back for weeks. I never weighed in on the debate at the time either. Both options are correct based on individual perception. So people who use call outs should adapt to mutually agreed call outs if needed. Door side left, door side right etc . These days, like at the daughters, everyone just usually grabs a plate and were off. And oryx its 123 and your good. No more front and back. We know the map too well now. We watch and move.

He's right in front of you, in the back. If you look to the back of the room you'll see him in front of you.
-
I'd say he is in the front because you come from the doors on the back of the room, and you head to the front of the platform (where oryx is located) I think it would be odd to say the door you came from is the front of the room and you head to oryx being located at the back of the room, just my thought I always say it as that

Mida Multi-Tool would disagree. It always points North, and Oryx is facing North; thus, Oryx is in the front.

We enter the dread naught from the Rear entrance This was the only way in! Then we make our way through oryxs 'Dreadnaught'

5 AntwortenWhen you go in a movie theater, is the screen in the front or the back of the room? Of course the front. Oryx spawns in the front. Front. You walk into the room. To your back is the door and to your front is where he spawns. I don't get how people can see it any other way.

4 AntwortenIn vault of glass, for the Templar fight, people used the first conflux as a point of focus. In the Atheon fight, he was the focus. With the guardians in the back. In the Crota fight, he was again, the focus. With the guardians in the back. For golgoroth, he was the focus in the center of the room. Things were relative to his position, with behind him being the back and so on. For oryx, you go to the spark to start the fight and that is where he comes in at.

1 AntwortenActual serious question here: Why's it matter? Say he's at the right or left if you want to. If you can't see the giant that is oryx and what plate his fist is slamming you've got bigger problems than room orientation. I find it really annoying when someone feels the need to shout out the plate he's moving to. I'm like "yeah no shit thanks tips." Almost as bad as the classic "I'm in" during the shade phase. Who is "I'm" and why do I need to know when you're inside?
-
2 AntwortenYour logic is flawed. It's Oryx's church, and you always enter at the back of the cathedral. Unless you're an atheist, then you can call it whatever you want.

Instructions unclear. Dick broken. Controller in toilet.

1 AntwortenOracles. They became like that because of where people stood whilst shooting. So naturally the closer oracles were "front" and the farthest "back". Oryx. This battle is primarily fought from the middle/Oryx side of the room. You spend most of your time looking into/at the space side of the room, ergo, "front" whilst the door side is "back". But I like to think of the Oryx battle this way, when/if you were at school, you went in, say at a desk and the object of your attention, the black/whiteboard usually is the "front". Ergo, Oryx's side, as he is the object of your attention is the "front" of the room. It's all a matter of perspective. But seriously, Oryx's side is the front.

He is in the front.

1 AntwortenI've wondered this myself. However, I would have never thought to put together this much data and start an entire thread on this point. You are passionate about this. And a bit obsessive, I think. Do you bog down your raid teams in this debate?
