Edit 4: Vault of Glass. Oracles. The third oracle on the left, or L3, also known as back left. The Templar also spawns there. This area is the same orientation as the Oryx room. Guardians spawn on one side, Templar spawns on the opposite. Yet the Templar is commonly considered to be at the back as well as those two "hidden" oracles.
Golgoroth. The first orb that everybody uses is the first one on the left (L1) compared to where you enter. Front left. The thrall and acolytes spawn at the back. Same orientation as the Oryx room.
Now all the sudden you get to Oryx and this logic is gone. Just pretend those pads are Golgoroth's orbs. The first one on the left would be front left. But why is the first pad (also known as L1) on the left widely considered the back? And the second one on the left (L2) is now the front? You guys aren't thinking clearly.
Original post: You walk in the room, you are at the front of the room. You move to the opposite end, you are now at the back. I dgaf where Oryx spawns. I am not Oryx. Plus Oryx moves around the room so you can't always call him the front. Its also not the front of the Dreadnaught as you can look out the BACK and see the dreadnaught keeps running out for miles.
Prove me wrong.
Edit: When you play pvp, the enemy team spawns on the other end. Is that end the front or back? It's the back.
Edit 2: "In front of you" and "the front of a room" are two entirely different definitions. The front of the room is always a set area that is always there no matter where you're looking at. It has to do with the architecture (Oryx is not part of the architecture he is a living thing in the game world). Whereas what's in front of you is different depending on which direction you're facing. On a baseball diamond, the back is always on the opposite end as the bat catcher even though its always in front of him. If he were to look behind him or even to the side, the back of the diamond is no longer in front of him, but its still the back of the diamond.
Edit 3: Why is everyone comparing Oryx's room to a classroom or a theatre? It is not either of those. I'm not going in there to learn anything and I'm not going in there to watch a movie. You don't even need to look at Oryx, he is not the focal point. The majority of the time you actually do have to look at him is when hes at the side. Plus he moves all around the room. Last time I checked the screen at the movies didn't move around, and Oryx wasnt a screen that displayed movies for people. If you played the raid from the get-go and had no idea where Oryx spawned, you wouldn't be calling that side the front. You'd be calling the side where you come in the front. And true story: people called entrance side the front before people started calling it the back. You guys only twisted it with flawed logic. Front and back of rooms are based on the architecture (like a movie screen or a chalkboard). No piece of interior architecture in Oryx's room indicates saturn side being the front. The back of a room can still be "in front" of you but that doesn't mean its the front.
Secondly, you can't be looking at the overall ship. We are inside the ship and the ship has rooms. Oryx's room may be the bow but we are still inside. It is a room, there is a ceiling, one wall, and support columns. Rooms have defined fronts and backs. Usually the main entrance is the front, in this case, the only entrance is the front.

It's the back, but you won't get anywhere arguing that fact on the forums. I've tried.
-
finally a guardian with the same mind :'D I got confused a lot with this said logic that the back is our spawn and not oryx :)
-
1 AntwortenIf you refer to the plates closest to Oryx's spawn as back left, right you probably get booted from your raid teams a lot.
-
I see it as the back too, but i gave up on it, i just say oryx side, and door side.
-
Not this again....
-
I've said it before and I'll say it again... Oryx is the focal point. It's his stage. When you buy tickets to a concert, do you brag about getting back row tickets?
-
I thought the reasoning for the L3 R2 etc in vog was the order they spawned during the initial phase doe not in reference to rooms front or back Also side note no one does this front left back right thing at oryx anymore, just 1,2,3.
-
1 AntwortenI completely agree with the fact that Oryx spawns in the back of the room; however, the amount of LFG groups that I've come across who believe Oryx spawns in the front is a lot higher than the ones who don't, so I have gotten used to refer to where Oryx spawns as being the front, although I don't believe it is.
-
Wow you typed a lot of shit to prove no point.
-
Lol, No. The captain of a ship needs to be able to see out of the front. So Oryx is at the bow of the Dreadnaught. You can see directly out the sides and front, right down to Saturn. The daughters are the helmsmen of the ship, they steer it (grimoire). So, like an airplane pilot or sailboat helmsman, they need to see out the front. Looking at what is behind them all the time does nothing. So Oryx is in the front.
-
The thing opens into open space, apparently, and the daughters are apparently at the bow. Stands to reason if they are in the bow, and there is open space in one direction, and not in the other, that open space direction is the front.
-
You're just going to have to accept it as its widely used and if you call it out differently to a team on LFG you'll cause a wipe. Call it what you like to your own friends list. It's like VoG. When Atheon opens the TIMEstream and sends you to the future, even though you're clearly still in the vault, people call it "Mars". Enough people who did the raid in the early days got the wrong idea and it stuck.

When you enter a theater, would say the stage or screen is in the back of the room?
-
Prove you wrong? How can anyone prove a subjective opinion wrong. Oryx spawns at the front because I said so. I don't care what you call it.

Bearbeitet von DisturbedShifty: 2/24/2016 2:35:00 PMWhy is this even a thread? The original post is the first one I have heard that says Oryx spawns in the back. Every raid group I have played with refer to the spawn area as the front.

Bearbeitet von RMSi_10nm: 2/24/2016 2:37:26 PMSo you walk OUT of your front door, into your front garden, in front of you a man is standing at your front gate. There are 6 gnomes in your garden, as you face the front gate 3 are lined up on the left side and 3 on the right side of the path. "I like your gnome" says the man, "which one?" you reply "The front left one" he says Which gnome does the man like?
If he is normal, he is probably pointing to the one closest to the gate on HIS left, your right
"Oh, I like the one on the back right better" you say Which gnome do you prefer?
If you are normal, you are probably pointing to the one closest to the house on YOUR right
Notice how although right and left switch positions it is fairly obvious in this situation where "Front" and "Back" are. You would never refer to your front gate as being at the back of your front garden, even though you exit through your front door into the garden it is immediately obvious once you enter the garden that the back is behind you. If you entered the garden through the front gate you would also adopt this perspective, the front being the street and the back being towards the house. Same goes with the Dreadnought and the open front area you are in when you fight Oryx. When you are INSIDE a closed area, a whole different set of perspective rules apply that get flipped as soon as you are at the boundary between a confined space and open reality.

He spawns in the back. End of story.
-
Oryx spawns between the front 2 plates
-
Been proved with the ship and grimoire m8 look it up nice try tho
-
Someone already proved this by using a boat or ship or whatever diagram and usage of the grimoire.
-
To be fair the logic has been flipped from normal call outs in other engagements. I think you have to accept that is because the Oryx room looks like the 'cockpit' of his ship. So we see where he spawns as the front. It is just accepted this is how we see it now, every team I've jumped into has said the same. Oryx is front
-
Bearbeitet von SCI 22: 2/24/2016 2:11:56 PMAt this point I just call it front to avoid confusion. I'm there to fight Oryx. Not the continuing argument of whether its front or back.

This post is -blam!-in hilarious
-
This is giving me a headache. I am in a classroom right now, regardless of where the door is, the front of the class is wherever the teacher sits. Point being, the front is where you make it.
-
WHO GIVES A -blam!- Most people call oryx the Front, so I call it the front to avoid confusion.
