TLDR; snipers don't have any drawbacks; like shotguns and fusion rifles only viable in close range, snipers should only be viable at mid-long range.
This video proves my point. This sniper has amazing skill, so much so that it negates the reason for there to be any other Special weapon in the game. Why use a shotgun, fusion, or sidearm if sniping is so powerful?

I'm not complaining about someone being better than me.
I don't want to change the mechanics of sniping. I don't want sniping to be any more difficult at all.
What I'm talking about is balance. A sniper rifle is meant to be used at longer ranges just like a shotgun is meant to be used at short range.
As the weapons currently work, sniper rifles can be used at any range and there aren't any drawbacks.
The idea is that if someone is ADS with a sniper and I have a shotgun or another close range weapon, I should have the advantage. Currently, it's too easy for a sniper to swap to their primary, because of this, they really aren't at a disadvantage. That's why TLW and Sniper combo is so incredibly effective.
Example: if I run with a shotgun, I have to close the gap and I can only kill targets at close range; same goes with sidearms.
If I used a fusion rifle, I have to learn the charge time, lead the shot and control the recoil but I can only hit targets close to mid range.
Sniper rifles can kill at any range, making them more powerful than the other Special Weapons.
If they had a longer handling time, like that of machine guns and rocket launcher, than that would keep people from using them up close as much because they would have a harder time swapping to their primary and be punished for using a long range weapon up close.
Or maybe aim assist wouldn't start until mid range.
My point is that they are the only weapon type in the game that can kill in 1-2 shots at any range and can quickly be stowed and swapped to.
I just want them being used at the range they are meant to be used.

11 AntwortenLet me just say I have sniped since I got a good LDR in dark below. I shot gunned a lot before that but I was never very good at it. Anyway, I don't think snipers are overpowered but I do think they should be nerfed. Why? Because I'm sick of seeing them!!! All I see 1000 yard stare left and right. To make it worse, 1000 yard stare is the only decent easy to get sniper, at least let's have some versatility! So, here is what I prepose: NO SWAY: it would make it virtually impossible to hit head shots in such a movement based game. Descope when you take over 75 damage. This means if you are caught of guard, you can still react and try to fight back, but you won't have very long. I would say if this doesn't fix the sniper fest, MAYBE, increase the zoom on scopes, so it is less of a close range weapon. HOWEVER, I realise the maps are quite small in destiny so I would rather this didn't happen. BUFF FUSION RIFLES: I'd say the only fusion rifle worth using is the Thesan FR4, which has some pretty good range, and maybe the Susanoo, which is warlock exclusive. Give the slow charging ones more range, at the moment you may as well be using a shotgun. BUFF LOW IMPACT SHOTGUNS: the only viable shotguns in the game right now are the extremely high impact ones, conspiracy theory, party crashed etc. Try you use a low impact one in PvP sometime (not invective). You will fail. You have to be at point blank range and pretty much all of the little shots have to hit the target to even have a chance at a one shot, an even then it's unreliable. Make them at least one shot from a meter away reliably. Finally, just give more variety: let's be honest, almost everyone prefers the higher impact snipers. Think of the most popular snipers in the game. The ones that spring to mind are: Longbow LDR Black hammer Black spindle 1000 yard stare Still piercer The only massively popular low impact one I can think of is the Preadyths Revenge, which was very good because of its stability. Anyway, people are always saying "1000kys is a crutch, waaaa, waaa, waaa" why are they saying this? Because it's the only sniper they die to and they want to rage. By simply adding more good snipers you would reduce people's anger towards them. That is all, have a nice day :)

1 AntwortenYou know that aim assist is not the problem, do you? In y2 we only have one sniper with high impact and the possibility for ambush or shortgaze. In y1 we had way more snipers with high impact and thosr scopes. Aim assist wise is the shadow of veils with shortgaze and hidden hand the sniper with the highest aim assist and high impact in the entire game. People BARRELY complained about that one. Ldr5001 has the same amount of aim assist as the 1000yard stare. Did people complain? NO because we had more options for high impact snipers. If bungie adds 2 or 3 more high impact snipers with the shortgaze or ambush scopes the complaining about snipers will get way less. Aim assist is not a problem

2 AntwortenI have seen way too many people using Snipers for close-mid range engagements. That should not be viable at all. Snipers are meant for long range engagements only. The problem is how little zoom the scopes have among other factors too.

A very low % of players have the skill to snipe close range! There's always going to be players like Jacob.. A -blam!-ing pvp God! We can't expect the machanics to be changed because of these players, I rarely get sniped close quarters and when I do I usually give them credit

That being said a sniper rifle will -blam!-ing kill you at short mid and long range if you are shot with a .308 win mag (the gun Chris Kyle used for the longest ever confirmed kill) at close rang you will -blam!-ing die. It will be just like you got shot by a shot gun. You're just a salty bitch. Get the sand out of your vagina and stop making pearls.

Though I agree that snipers need to be looked at, you do realise that Jacob is a former professional Halo player and arguably among the top players in the world, right? 99.9% of Destiny players literally cannot do what he does with any kind of weapon.

This is a stretch for those who need things to 'make sense' in a game, but I wouldnt mind snipers reimagined with more scifi elements to create a sniper that cant do damage at close range. Like make some bullshit up about the bullet can only fully materialize after reaching a certain distance/velocity/etc and if it hits too early its low to no damage on the target. I mean yeah we can add sway or whatever but I think something new or interesting would be more fun, regardless of my half assed thought haha. I do agree that these god tier players thay can pull a sniper out and body shot as a shotgun close range and the hotswap to MIDA is getting silly though

These guns fire to quickly, slow the rate of fire a little. It's high impact, which should also mean high recoil! There is virtually none, meaning landing multiple head shots one after the other is easy! High impact snipers can fire quicker than some scout rifles! That should never happen! Low impact snipers. Should be three body shots to kill due to the high rate of fire! Readying these weapons should be slower to, as it is with a shotgun! Blink with a shotgun and there is a slight pause before you can fire, snipers should be no different! I'd prefer they don't nerf anything to be honest but with most guns ruined by nerfs already they either need to be buffed back up or snipers need a nerf! End of story!

1 AntwortenI'm just tired of getting body shot then being cleaned up with a sniper. I agree. Switching to a sniper should remain the same, but switching to a primary from a sniper should have the ready time of a heavy weapon.
