Addressing the "arguments" against evolution.

Whenever an evolution thread pops up, I always see the same arguments being used by creationists, and always the arguments are defeated. I've decided to address them all here.
Micro is real but macro isn't.
These are the same thing on different scales. So-called "macro-evolution" is the culmination of many adaptations.
There's no evidence of Evolution
This is false. Here's one example. http://evolution.berkeley.edu/evolibrary/news/060501_tiktaalik
Nobody can prove it because nobody was there.
This argument assumes that eyewitness testimony is more valid than empirical evidence, when in reality, the opposite is true. If I go out and shoot somebody, it doesn't matter if nobody was there to see it, because the police can trace the bullets back to my gun.
Evolution doesn't explain how life started.
It doesn't need to. Evolution explains how life changes over time, the same way Google Maps explains how a car can get from point A to point B. It doesn't matter where the car came from.
If evolution were real it would be a law, not a theory.
This argument relies on the misconception that a scientific theory is a precursor to a scientific law. A scientific law states that something happens. A scientific theory explains how and/or why it happens. Theories do not become laws and laws do not originate as theories. For example, the law of conservation of mass, law of definite proportions, and law of multiple proportions describe properties of matter. Atomic theory explains why these laws exist.
Evolution is impossible because things cannot change "kinds".
First of all, "kind" is not a biological classification. Second, evolution does not happen in a single generation. Speciation has been observed in nature. Downs Syndrome is an example of how an organism's chromosome count can differ from that of its parents. These things can and do happen today.
Why aren't humans evolving?
Humans aren't supposed to be able to tolerate dairy after weening. Tolerance for lactose is an example of a relatively recent evolution.
Why are there still apes?
There aren't. At least, not the kind from which humans are descended. Modern homonids, including humans, are all descendants of a common ancestor.
Mutation is harmful so it can't affect evolution.
You have trillions of DNA base pairs in every cell. If even one of those doesn't copy correctly, that's a mutation. Mutations occur every time a cell divides, and most have no significant effects. Some have very minor effects. A few have adverse effects. A few have advantages.
Evolution violates the second law of thermodynamics.
This law only applies to an isolated system. Earth isn't an isolated system. Praise the sun!
All evidence for evolution was fabricated by the devil.
I would love to see any evidence to support this claim.
The evolutionary perspective of psychology excuses certain behaviors.
No, it doesn't. It explains them. Key difference.
Darwin spoke against evolution.
Darwin's word isn't gospel. We agree with him when he supports evolution because he gives evidence. We disagree when he opposes it because we've since found new evidence.
Evolution is a conspiracy created by atheists.
Darwin wasn't an atheist. Neither is the current Pope. Plenty of theists support evolution.
Why can't we agree to disagree?
Why couldn't Galileo and the Pope agree to disagree? Because Galileo had facts. The Pope had beliefs.
I refuse to accept it because of my religion.
If faith is worth more to you than fact, then you are a truly sad individual. I hope this post has been informative. I get tired of seeing the same old arguments that didn't work before and still don't work now. If I missed any, I'll be sure to address them. Denying evolution is denying the scientific method. The science that game us the theory of evolution is the same science that gave us modern technology. Evolution is fact, and saying you don't believe it is like saying you don't believe in computers.
