Ranking Up Factions.....The Struggle Is Real
As a casual to semi-casual player, I feel like it takes forever now to rank up Factions and I know most of the community agrees. But I just wanted to ask for other Guardians to give some input on how much they have actually been able to rank up since tTK launched.
For instance, on my main I had only ever leveled Dead Orbit because all you really needed was one character to have a different faction so you could purchase any weapon. But with the addition of exotic class items I decided I would need to switch it up, so I changed to FWC.
Playing roughly 10-15 hours a week since launch, I have only been able to rank up to 12. Since I only get to play a couple hours a night I don't really have time to worry about bounties and instead focus on things I need to do for the week, like Raids, Nightfalls and weekly PVP bounties.
How about you?
EDIT: I think many of you misunderstood my original post. I've a Veteran and I know all the different tricks and ways to rank up my faction. But my point is that it requires more grinding than it used to, so casual gamers struggle to rank up. I don't have the time to do King's Fall 3 times a week, let alone do VoG and Crota. And I also use most of my motes to upgrade the weapons I get that I want to try out, since bounties literally barely touch them now.

I just unload motes occasionally. If I run low (pssh), I buy more with my useless TDB shards.

Lately I've been buying heavy from xur with all the extra strange coins I have. 1 coin gets you 3 heavy, 100 heavy gets you a rank up in a faction (less if you have the exotic class item).

Same boat as you.. I wait for my 25k glimmer cap then buy weapon parts/heavy synths for rep and only use motes to get my last couple hundred points.. Strikes/bounties while wearing exotic class items improves it slightly.. The mission is extensive but not overly difficult provided you have a shader emblem and existing faction class item.

5 AntwortenAgreed. Although my problem is I don't get any of the faction exclusives. I'm almost rank 50 with DO, an I have 3 of the 4 shaders. That's it. Other two characters are 25+ with NM & FWC an I don't have anything from them. I need shaders to do the exotic class item bounties but I still haven't gotten one. Meanwhile I have friends who've gotten everything. I've never gotten even 1 ship. If I didn't buy the emblems in year one I'd literally have nothing from NM & FWC. :( So now that it takes even longer to rank up its even more frustrating. I was hopeful in year two that the drops would be better but my luck hasn't changed.

I play about 2.5 hours a night and make a point to rank my faction up apx twice every 3 days. True we get a lot less rep from bounties now and no nightfall etc, but with so many resources available to rank up your factions, I'm getting it done quicker than ever. And once you hit 25 the extra faction rep boost from the exotic class armor helps as well

I rank about 4 times weekly.. Motes, and buy heavy from variks ! You rank so fast

If you grind for it like you mean it it's probably possible to rank up about twice a weak. At the rate I play these days it's like once every other week. Before TTK I was ranking up every other day without much trying. Handful of bounties a day and the normal weekly stuff was all it took.

In Year 1 I was able to get my NM rank up every 3 days or so. Since TTK I've ranked up a grand total of 7 times.

Otherwise it would drive me nuts actually trying to level them up. Someone said here once that it would take over 250 regular patrols to gain a single level. That needs to be addressed.

6 AntwortenI am a pretty casual player, and I'm rank 40+ Dead Orbit, 17 Crucible, 3 New Monarchy, and like 8 Vanguard. I pretty much only play Crucible too. Literally not even hard to level it up.

Heavy ammo. Use glimmer and strange coins to obtain. Trade heavy ammo for faction rep.

3 AntwortenIt's definitely the biggest grind I've ever played in any game and I'm an RPG guy. I finally moved it "quickly" by getting a public event tracker app, and just farming those a ton. I would inevitably do the bounties as I was running those, and some patrols along the way. Took so long, BUT I finally got the NM Titan Mark, and the Comitatus dropped at 25 too!

Yep. There was a small uproar about the massive reduction of faction rep. It was smothered by nerf posts and forgotten about. They added an exotic class item at level 25, they can't just be giving them away........Bungie are scumbags.

Very occasionally a faction gives me some stuff I don't need. That's about it. Y1 ranking cryptarch, factions, vanguard, crucible, that was all part of the game. And it's inexplicably missing in Y2. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the game, or I wouldn't play, I just don't understand the decisions like this that needlessly removers part of the game to all intents and purposes.

Started levelling up NM with my titan. I went from rank 12 to rank 22 in a month, that's not too much! Looking forward to getting that sexy exotic class item!

Just save up all of your motes and use them on your faction, about 90 motes for every rank up, I rank up about 2 times a week just from playing casually

Like you I main a Hunter and so the quest for the DO cloak was ready for me when TTK dropped. My Titan wasn't too far away but I'd restarted my Warlock not long before so he took some work. So I have the Dead Orbit class items for all 3 characters now. I also have the New Monarchy cloak for my Hunter and am over half way to the magic rank 25 for the last one. However, I didn't realise you couldn't wear them if you changed factions, so any high level class items I acquired got infused into my Titan and 'Locks class items. So I can't switch their affiliations yet until I get suitable items to temporarily replace them!
