Just so you know this is a public event for all skill types.
It's not a competitive game mode like Trials, even though it's pretty much a carbon copy. And I know everyone will try to tear that statement apart but this event was essentially created for people to get together and have fun.
The fact that people are:
- Thorn or Ice Breaker whoring
- Special ammo exploiting with sidearms
- Teabagging & acting arrogant
- Waiting by special for it to drop every round
- etc etc, I'm sure others could add to this but this is what I've experienced so far
Just goes to show how vile the tactics of the majority of the community has gotten, and that every chance they get to try to turn a casual game into a severely competitive one, they do.
I will continue to play till I get that chocolate Ghost but once I have, I'm out and the event will have served its purpose for me.
Does anyone else feel similar or different?
Would like to hear others opinions. Keep it civil please.
EDIT:
Since many people are misinterpreting what my post is about by not paying attention to what I'm saying. I'm not trying to dictate what weapons people can use, just stating an opinion on them. I'm not trying to dictate how one has fun, I'm just addressing how I feel about it. This is nothing more then a rant about my experience in Crimson Doubles so far, and then I asked you guys whether you could relate to it or felt different about it. Hopefully more will understand now before replying.
Smaller edit:
Thanks for getting this to over 1000 replies, now although I took a lot of heat I tried to reply to everyone to clarify my position so that we all had an understanding. Thanks to those who spoke up along side me and let it be known that I wasn't the only one experiencing it.
Other edit:
Hit 1100 replies. Got a lot more attention then any other thread I've created. Also didn't expect this initially as many of my other ones died really quickly.

I understand, people lost they joy of playing games along time ago. I say it really started in Modern Warfare 2, well that's when I noticed it and it spread throughout gaming. K/D started to matter, kids watched MLG CoD players or Troll YouTubers and wanted the "fame" they had and fun disappeared. Try hards and trolls appeared everywhere and gaming hasn't been the same again especially FPS. I know that trolling and try hards have probably been around ever since the Internets creation but since MW2 it has gotten much much bigger. That is just my theory ...... a game theory I would love it for people to use what you want and not care for K/D and just have fun. I helped a sick guy through Crimson Doubles who usually ended up with 1 or 2 kills but we had fun and won several games. Games are fun and relaxing so JUST DO IT!

7 AntwortenIf you can't beat an Ice Breaker then you're a scrub. If you can't outshoot a thorn wielder then you are a SUPER SCRUB. Honestly, these are two very easy guns to counter. They're also two of the most fun guns to play with. Also, judging by your kd, you lack all sorts of skill in the crucible and that will more than likely be the reason why you find it so difficult to counter these guns. You probably can't counter most of not all guns, thereby you would probably have it to where we can only shoot marshmallows and have pillow fights in crucible. If you'd simply practice with said guns, and learn their disadvantages you'll become that much better. Ice Breaker kicks like a mother-blam!-er, so if you Sprint past a campers scope and force him to miss the first, then you can certainly outgun him. Thorn has terrible accuracy. In fact all hand cannons do. So how you're losing those fights is beyond my comprehension level. Simply strafe when in a gun fight against a thorn wielder and you will win.

1 AntwortenI agree. Destiny players are some of the most immature and toxic
-
1 AntwortenPull out sword hilts. Message other team to see if they want to play. Enjoy some fun ass 2v2 sword battles. Had some amazing games today doing this.
-
19 AntwortenPeople should be able to use whatever gun they own in whatever mode they want. You crying about it is the biggest problem.
-
I countered these weapons by never playing Crimson Doubles.

Bearbeitet von FinneyWolverine: 2/13/2016 2:28:36 AMI thought it was pretty good. A lot of people i came up against were using blue guns. A lot of queens weapons too. Was nice change of pace from trials. Came up against a team at the end that were obviously trying to do hand cannon bounty same as we were. Both teams were terrible. Havent laughed as much in this game in a long time. Overall i enjoyed it. Was def a good idea to have level advantages disabeled. Wasnt chasing ghost was just nice to have something new to chill to for a few hours on a fri night with a few beers. Trials would be a lot more fun 2 vs 2.

Ya I feel ya a large part of the pvp community must not understand what casual means lol cause everyone of my matches was a sweat fest of t bagging douche bags

2 AntwortenI just want my Ghost...

Man crimson doubles was the most fun I've had in destiny in a long time! Everyone bitches about year one weapons being obsolete yet here we have a perfect opportunity to have a go at our favorite year one guns for a bit and still possibly get a useable reward from the grind! Man it was a blast. Went from scraping kids to getting scraped myself yet still loved it. It was a nice change. Lighten up gaurdians.
-
Ice Breaker has always been my favorite PvP gun and to see it abused like this absolutely breaks my heart.
-
I used o hate doubles but man this is so much fun I win I lose but I always have fun. And I get to chill with my bros and it got alot of my friends who quit to play it with me and its their favorite too
-
Personally I haven't enjoyed Crucibles as much as I have in doubles in a long time.

3 AntwortenAre people not allowed to try and win? I don't understand the mindset of you casuals.

9 AntwortenFrom the people I've played with and knowing their drops, I refuse to believe that it takes more than 20 games to get a ghost. I've had 2 as have other I know. On the same character as well

Although I've been getting a lot of try hards, some of them had some interesting combos they were trying out. Kinda enjoyed losing to a few people and learning some new things. But everyone using thorn and icebreaker and stuff really need to go learn how to play.
-
I don't care about thorn and icebreaker usage...it's a good strategy that is part of the game, it is what it is. I have noticed a TON more teabag ginger though, usually it doesn't bug me, maybe because it doesn't happen that often in regular mode. It bugs me more when it's bagging over nothing...like getting 1 win to my 5... I've sent a few messages out, all I say is "thanks for the tea, good game!". Take the high road and stuff...lol
-
1 AntwortenIve met nothing but good competitors. Happy people dancing after ma5ches and stuff. Never got killed by ice breaker etc. Maybe im lucky.
-
Fair points, the arrogant hate messaging did increase, and some weapons do feel a little cheap or exploit-ey(new word) but....
I still used thorn all day except for when I needed different weapon kills for that one bounty.
Check out the latest edition of Unofficial Patch Notes by SEV THE DEV! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/191442552/0/0

Change a few things so my post is less of a target for attack and a bit more understanding. What happens? Get less activity. Oh well, bump for anyone who still wants to put their opinions down.
-
Bump for more feedback.
-
It is very simple. Bungie required fireteams for entry. That pretty much excludes all casual players, and all casual play. There are exceptions to any rule, but there it is. In my opinion matchmaking would have made this a completely different event.

Bump for edits

1 AntwortenMost of the people resorting to the tactics above arent good. The randoms ive been playing with havent lost a game yet to thorn, invective or ice breakers on the opposition team These people feel they have no other choice and its a shame really With regards to sidearms i dont think they can swap out to a sniper unless they have picked up more than the standard ammo given to them at the beginning - that being said people using sidearms genuinely and not for abuse purposes is cool its refreshing to see them represented more in pvp at the moment even though bungie will inevitably balance (ruin) them because of the ammo changes
-
The exploiting is lame and ridiculous...but don't blame people for being competitive and playing hard. It's the crucible.....
THE CRUCIBLE IS NO PLACE FOR MERCY
