Was the current meta the vision for Destiny? a game where you have unparalleled movement options, a diverse array of weaponry, class based moves that augment play styles, and the overall ability to make the player feel like a superhero, all reduced to nothing in favor of wait and bait sniping. Everything in this game from cool downs on supers and grenades, on top of lower TTK primaries not being an option for countering snipers, all promote camping.
Bungie, I urge you to think about what I'm going to say here... The crucible has struggled to draw the numbers you expect from your pedigree as a developer... You have forced us into to trials for weaponry we would have obtained in y1 from raids, you've released almost all PVP based events, and created disparity in light levels for level advantage modes via poor drops. It's obvious you are desperate to get people to play PVP.
My friend is new to Destiny. He recently ventured into the Crucible and wasn't able to get a single kill in 6 matches.... This is a guy who is very proficient in first person shooters. In the same day, he was able to get kills on both Halo 5, B03, and Titanfall. Without trying to sway his opinion(mainly because I don't want to scare him off considering that my entire clan has left the game) I just listened to his observations... he was immediately blown away by the immediate, undeniable inability to even look around corners without punishment. Not to mention almost every up close firefight ended in him being one or two shotted by a sniper rifle in CQC.
I do not believe that every single team that I play against features one other player who is a pro sniper. There's plenty of video evidence online that shows the snipers do not have to fully connect with the head to register a one shot kill. I myself have several pieces of video evidence that show me being killed around corners, or through walls which I attribute to latency and overly large hit boxes.
Conclusion:
Destiny PVP is a difficult game to get into and was in many cases, dropped by PVE players who are not accustomed to dealing with lag and piss poor weapon balancing. I can name many games that are easy to play and hard to master, unfortunately Destiny is the opposite, hard to play and easy to master... This pushes people away. Having a game where a niche', more skill-based weapon such as the sniper rifle is relatively easy to use, and dominate in the meta, is the worst possible balance for the health of the game. I was hoping in the latest patch that the sniper rifles would be addressed but instead you gave a "by proxy" Nerf to Shotguns and fusions in 3v3 game modes.
Edit:
I appreciate everyone who has contributed with constructive criticism, lively discussion, humor, and debate. It's refreshing to see a post on these forums not devolve into name calling and insults.

Learning to dodge snipers and to lead them to waste there shots is just a viable a skill as shooting them. Adapt or die.

Bump You speak the truth....this game was fun, I haven't played in weeks. Crucible should never have become the focus of destiny

9 AntwortenBearbeitet von iAM: 2/10/2016 10:22:15 PMI think Bungie intentionally designed this meta for the twitch streamers. Think about it, the sudden add on of SBMM, snipers being untouched even though it was evidently showing as a problem while nerfing shotguns to the ground. Most of their player related communication is towards the Planet Destiny cast (who even said snipers are balanced) and all of them are sniper users, you got those other guys like Vanguard, RK, Anbu, TripleWreck, Mtashed, Watts, Holtz. All of these guys are named sniper users, the recent Red Bull event and then the add on of Crimson Double. It's like Bungie created this meta intentionally to cater towards the twitch streamers & the competitive players.

Wait this is destiny, I thought I was playing sniper elite. Huh, I guess that's why there were other weapon types. They aren't any good except for those weak snipers like mida, everything else is for idiots who can't aim.
-
Sniping takes and requires no skill at all. Especially when u have a 1000 yard stare. I have one and I just feel ugh getting kills. Too easy. Im starting to use Plan C. Saved me in Doubles a number of times and I have always loved Fusions. Even though Bungie clearly hates them

I believe aim assist is needed for destiny, mainly because of the movements you can perform with your characters. How much aim assistance is needed is not my job to tell but AA is very much needed if snipers are going to work the way they are now.(only 1sk to the head) Take cod for example. Cod does not have AA on snipers, but most snipers are one shot kills to pretty much anywhere to the enemy. So, if bungie takes away aim assist in exchange for bodyshot 1sk, fine. I could picture the shitshow that would cause, but maybe it worth a try. I never used the 1000 yard stare because i have an eirene rr4 and a stillpiercer but i think 1000 yard is not the problem, its the degree of aim assistence and the easy to master sniper play. The main problem in my opinion is the radar. Its so broken its a constant uav that makes sure you cant flank a camping sniper. Saying this as a so called "meta abuser".

16 AntwortenBearbeitet von iAM: 2/10/2016 12:24:00 AMSniping is pretty damn simple in Destiny, its mechanics aren't that different from playing a scout rifle, so the skills from that easily transfer. The map's terrain makes sniping easy, most of them are on the same land surface, so you know where they're coming out from. Other games like Titanfall + Overwatch the players are coming from either in front or above you. With the radar visibility showing immediately once you de-select ADS you can spam it to get perfect visual radar site. Drag scoping takes mediocre effort also, you just need to re-asign your aim to the players head location and since the map terrain is mostly the same throughout the map it's so easy to land headshots on players not expecting to get sniped. Last time I got 4, one after another. Also most snipers tend to stay near a wall so anyone using a primary to get them usually cant get them in time since they lose no movement speed while in ADS, well very very limited. Even then they de-scope and go into cover after taking a single shot or 2 by a primary. Once a shotgunner goes in, it's either do or die, there is no second chances. It's the one and only precision weapon in the entity of the game that doesn't have to rely on headshots to kill (funny right?). You can just double tap snipe with the rate of fire it holds or just body shot swap to primary to finish off. The only thing snipers have to worry about is other snipers or players on their supers coming for THEM, not another player. Other than this, they have no cons in game-play mechanics. For me personally, a weapon to be considered a skill based weapon, it has to be unforgivable to any mistakes (Fusion rifle for example), condition that could hinder performances and lacks variety of ways to be played. Sniping in destiny dodges all of this, it's the most forgiveable special in the game, unlike shotguns, snipers have no cons that reduces their performances, and they have the most variety of ways to use, hard-scoping, drag-scoping, 2-body shots, 1 body shot + primary swap. Many here will down vote your post or mine btw.

"Shotguns are meant to be heavy weapons used in the trenches with limited mobility".... And snipers are not heavy weapons?? Snipers are the heaviest weapons some weighing almost 100 lbs and they have stands bc surprise surprise, you're supposed to use them while lying down or have them propped up on a ledge or hard surface... Not while running, jumping, sliding at the same damn speed as someone wielding a primary. #balancing #byebyebungie #skilledbased #matchmaking

6 rounds, zero kills. Your friend just sucks.

Sniping is not easy it takes some amount of skill & map knowledge but once you get the hang of it that's it you are in with the 1% and nothing else except classes grenades can challenge a ((TLW/1000Y combo)). Don't you find it weird that ppl start complaining about class abilities recently :) BTW I'm not a PvP snipers and I hate sniping in general I like to charge ((passive game play is not my thing)). Just my 2cents

I hate it because now every Mach takes three times longer.

Snipers are so much worse than shotguns!! How the -blam!- are casual players supposed to enjoy this crap when the whole enemy team is a MOG 360 no scope?

2 AntwortenThey should have called Valentine's day = The Crimson Snipe Fest - featuring the IceBreaker

4 AntwortenI can believe, and i blame Bungie for it. Bungie funnelled players towards Sniper Rifles or Shotguns. There is no middle term anymore. Sidearms were never a thing and Fusions are unusable since the last balance patch. Special ammo is still plenty in any pvp mode. Basically Bungie left players with only 2 choices, and with their crappy matchmaking and people getting tons of lag, few people dare to use shotguns because being upclose is risky in a laggy match. So Bungie forces players to use snipers, and they obviously use snipers. No point in compaining about snipers because that is not going to change. Complain about matchmaking formulas, about the lack of dedicated servers, about the lack of special weapon variety or balance in the existing pool of special weapons and about the current special ammo situation in pvp (i don't mind the current special ammo timings, but i think they should give 2 bullets max to encourage the use of primaries.)
-
yeah that's part of why i dont play pvp much unless it's for the legendary marks. Sniping is -blam!-ing ridiculous in Destiny. Atleast in something like CoD , or Battlefield if someone tries to snipe you, you can atleast shoot them and knock their aim off. In Destiny that shit is non existent plus you have to deal with that stupid overpowered shield everyone in pvp has.

Personally I am way better and find destiny PvP much more entertaining than the current and past competition. I have all the CoDs, all the Halos, Star Wars battlefront, titanfall, war frame, and even pvz garden warfare. Destiny's weapon options, super abilities, grenade options, melee abilities, and overall mechanics are much more satisfying than any of those. Not saying Destiny is perfect. It's just more fun. The others, being so vanilla balanced and homogenized, feel stale.

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von BLAZE: 2/10/2016 7:11:02 PMhonestly devs might as well not even put shotguns and snipers in games anymore, you people are idiots

7 AntwortenOne thing that definitely needs to be done to sniping is when they get shot they should be knocked out of being scoped in and allow for people to potentially challenge them with their primary. I've used a sniper in pretty much every shooter game I have ever played and I have to say that destiny sniping is the easiest. No sway while being scoped in, no having to hold your breathe to get a steady shot, if I get shot by a primary it's pretty easy to adjust and still snipe them in the head (especially with unflinching) and lastly starting with sniper ammo (yes I know they are addressing/addressed that). A pretty big mistake I think was made was their update that put a timer on when the special will spawn and outlines exactly where the box will be. People will literally just sit and wait for the box to count down, it is something that I've noticed a lot of in crimson doubles. At times it becomes a run around the map avoiding the encounters until you've got your special, makes for a really dull round first round. I could say more, but this post is long enough.

8 AntwortenIts a snipe fest because the community couldn't stop talking about Shotguns. So those got nerfed. And as they got nerfed, Greg made sure Bungie also nerfed Fusions. Sidearms are weak. Leaving only 1 weapon type that is decent and hasn't been changed much, Snipers. Want to see less Snipers? Bring back Shot Package. Buff Fusions. Buff Sidearms

4 AntwortenNerfed all mid-range weps = snipe fest Why use primary when you cant: 2 shot thorn anymore 2 shot Last word from mid range anymore 1-2 shot hawkmoon anymore 2 shot pulse rifle anymore Auto rifle from mid range anymore = Snipers are harder to challenge
-
I actually disagree. I think that destiny pvp is one of the easiers multiplayer shootera to get into. You can get decent scores just by using ability kills? Have you seen the grenades in this game?. I have friends that are gods in Destiny but suck in other shooters.
-
Well, why don't you not peek around corners? Sounds like quite a simple solution for such a stupid useless long post.

2 AntwortenI loved year one. It was so near perfect and the closest thing to a super nerf youd hear is someone getting mad about arc blade ir golden gun or something like that. Ahhh, good times
