For Destiny 2 would you rather have the game be a completely fresh restart or keep our progression and characters?
A case for both:
Fresh Start- Leveling up, getting new guns, and being able to progress through challenges and the story was one of the things that made year one so good. A reset would bring that fresh experience back, with the thrill of progressing from nothing.
Keep Data- If the game was basically a reset, some would argue that all we've done is for nothing. What's the point of what we've been doing if it were all to just reset?
Ok, so what side do you fall on and why?
p.s. I am for a fresh start

So, I am very late to this. I presume I'm not the target demographic, as I generally play on weekends and briefly at that. My opinion is that a reset is preferred by those I might classify as "hardcore." To be clear, I mean no disrespect by that, I am somewhat jealous actually. Sadly to afford my toys requires me to work more than I'd like lol. So, for me I am not a fan of the reset, however I do understand it.
-
S.E. did it with Final Fantasy but not E.A. with Dragon Age and even if the FF series is awsome I still feel more confortable having the chance to keep the fruit of my "job". Yet bungie doesnt have ears or eyes in the players wish so its almost a fact that there its going to be a reset. For the players who want a reset delete your characters or dont import them to D2 (if the system allows it) youre going to have all "fun" from a fresh start.
-
Keep your data.
-
Reset is a feature you can easily employ right now; just delete your character start over. Fun!
-
They got the Mass Effect mindset and the team to do it, lets hope they keep all the data for our players as promised or I may just switch to Xbox One and Halo again which would make me a Sad Panda.

2 AntwortenWhat of Destiny 2 is just in a whole new world, on a different disc. We could still play Destiny, or we could go play new content.
-
I mean, with the potential for us to get something that ISN'T RNG, I'd be excited to start new. But, I personally would want SOME things to carry over - pretty much all the cosmetics. Shaders, Emblems, Emotes, Ships, Sparrows, Ghosts, and also Grimore score. But everything else? Lets have the amazement of starting over.
-
I think some stuff should carry over. Grimoire score, unlocked shaders/ships etc, maybe faction rank. But gear? No. I want Destiny 2 to be a different enough game that gear carrying over would be impossible.
-
I would not want to be forced to restart all of my progress, especially if some of the Destiny 1 exotics would be in Destiny 2. I do not want to regrind for exotics that I already had, that would be much worse.
-
A mix of both, I'd like the option to carry my character over as in the way they look, but I'd be happy for a stat reset
-
1 AntwortenI think it would be fun. Maybe not a total reset, like you could carry over reputation, but I would like a new slate.

Id actually be okay with a fresh start, and I'm going to explain why. Hopefully it'll make sense to you guys. 1) Look at the basic facts first. Destiny 2 is next Gen only. The next Gen consoles have an incredible amount of processing power that will not be limited by old technology this go around. Think of what that could mean for every major system involved in game play in Destiny. Think of how different it could be. 2) Look at the new subclasses compared to the old ones. Those old ones need revamping, and if they are revamped, new skills added, other skills changed, you won't have earned those new skills or changes. They may even change the progression through the skill trees. A fresh start would make most sense here. 3) Think about weapon skill trees. The upgrade paths on those will probably change again, and for all we know the new weapons could totally outclass years one and two in Destiny just because they have new and improved perks, possibly more of them, and an improved leveling system. I'm not asking you to agree with me, but I believe that these changes warrant a fresh start. Old gear and character abilities just won't measure up. You wanna keep it to trash it in five minutes? Be my guest. Seems stupid to me though.
-
It cant be a fresh start because bungie stated you would carry your stuff over and bungie would never lie. Right?
-
Fresh reset. If bungo is smart they'll leave TLW out of destiny 2 entirely.
-
If they remade destiny to the game it was meant to be a year before release, I'd gladly start over again

Bearbeitet von DeusFever: 2/8/2016 4:28:56 PMRemember when we moved to Year 2 and we got to keep all of our gear from Year 1 only all that gear was arbitrarily made obsolete and Bungie then made us grind for year 2 versions of some of our Year 1 gear? Well, I think the move to Destiny 2 will be 4 times worse than that. Nevertheless, I believe Bungie has to provide a fresh start. Crucible is so broken that nothing less than a complete reset will fix it. RNG is so broken Guardian treat RNG as a naughty word; Bungie needs to scrap RNG in favor of set loot. The vault system is broken and inadequate. The currency system is broken and too complicated. (Hint to Bungie, the point of currency is to make exchange of money easier.) The light system is broken and the primary reason Guardians quit Destiny forever. Bungie also has to provide a fresh start to attract a viable player base. Remember, 80% of players quit after level 20 and didn't buy The Taken King. Now Bungie doesn't have the money they need to develop new content. Bungie will have trouble bringing these players back and attracting new players if all of are gunning for them with MIDAs and The Last Words. Some might say Bungie shouldn't cut off its nose in spite of its face, but the nose didn't buy enough DLC in year 1 to fund DLC for Year 2. Bungie needs the face.

Do you honestly think there is a difference? Whether we keep our characters or start from fresh (which I'm sure there is going to be some new class or subclass to start fresh from anyway) the only true difference is whether our bubbles are filled in or not already. Gear won't matter again (for the third time), there will be more materials and currencies added most likely (which keeping what we've earned of that would be good but again won't matter much since we'll need the new stuff anyway). So I ask again, really does it matter if we start from scratch or from where we're at?
-
Bungie has stated that we will keep our characters (and their gear) throughout Destiny's lifespan.
-
I want a fresh start but make it feel like we've kept our original Destiny progression somehow.
-
It's a trick. Just like all exoansions, even though you still had your shit, you still had to start over basically.
-
Build your legend but we'll reset everything with the new game.. Nah don't think so..
-
I think in general the game world around us should just get more difficult. Eg, we're level 40's now with 320 light, I'd like to keep that and have more difficult engagements. Exactly what they've been doing. I do think the subclass perk trees could use a makeover. But as far as leveling goes, I'm okay with the past model.
-
Even though this is not pure MMO, the only thing that will keep it going for 10 years would be the MMO aspect of it, continuation of characters and advancement of the story. Never go backwards. There is a reason World of Warcraft is still going strong after 14 years. I still have my original WoW character from Vanilla. I would really like to say the same thing about my Guardians in 10 years.
-
1 AntwortenIve been playing since day 1. I've basically already 'reset' like 3 times already Im not about doing that shit again.
-
Destiny needs a clean slate if Bungie plans to make this game as good as it can be. If destiny 2 is good I won't care.
-
Keeeep. I would definitely stop Playing if it all got erased. I spent to much time and moneyon this one lol
