This has got to be one of the most baleful lines ever spoken from you Bungie!
Paul: If your connection is bad, we'll be giving you even more reasons to improve it.
Do you honestly think I can tell my router to go faster? Perhaps start my own internet service that's fiber inducing? Or go talk to the big companies and ask very nicely if they could help in my plight? Unfortunately there are many of us gamers who aren't as privileged compared to those with optimal connections and there is little to no chance we can really do anything about it and now you're threatening us?!
As a person who has "lesser" internet I can honestly say that whenever I've had a red bar, or even green a green bar, I've never felt like I had the advantage; in fact, the clear opposite happens to me. I get shot through corners, witnessed teleporting sparrows during SRL, you get the picture - it's frustrating! I understand that something needs to be done to those who purposely tamper with their connections, but to punish those who are trying to play legit is wrong; you're literally pulling an Ebenezer and it's so baffling. If you're that inclined to only want people who have privileged internet then you should have only sold the game to those people because apparently my money isn't good enough for you.
Believe me when I say I would LOVE to have the most up to date internet, but with the way service provider companies currently are, it will never happen because they're not going to go out of their way to help little me who wants to play games online or whatever. So, if you want your paying customers to be able to play your game without connection headaches then you need not to tell us about how bad our internet is, but to the companies who are holding your people back.
EDIT: "Poor" internet means not that great internet service - not money!

1 AntwortenLooks like lag switchers are now going to have to face KARMA hahahaha
-
3 AntwortenWhat would you prefer? That the one laggy guy has the advantage? All this does is turn the tables a bit so that one guy in the game doesn't ruin it for the other 11 people in the game. No I don't believe that laggy players should be barred from playing but they should at least be a decent human being and not ruin it for everyone else. Also dedicated servers won't fix your internet that you are borrowing from the Mcdonalds from across the street. It'll just host the game for you as opposed to using a player's connection. Yes, it'll help lag immensely but again it won't magically make your internet better.

Bearbeitet von gallp13: 2/6/2016 3:43:49 AMThis is a complete over reaction. All that is happening is the advantage that a poor connection gets will be toned down. Example Current red bars can be bullet sponges requiring a clip or more to kill. While the red bar kills his opponent in the normal number of bullets. Under the new system the the red bar can be killed in much fewer bullets and the red bar may have to land a couple of more bullets to achieve his kill. There is no punishment here simply a levelling of the playing field.

Bearbeitet von Jolt: 2/6/2016 4:49:58 AMSo u want bungie to reward people with bad connections?
-
7 AntwortenWhat you call priveledged Internet is really just normal Internet. What you call poor Internet is substandard internet. The amount of bandwidth required to have stable connection is miniscule, like 2-3MB D/1MB up, so if you can't even dedicate that I don't feel sorry for you. Bungie has every right to discriminate against people with bad connections as these people ruin the game for everyone else
-
1 AntwortenYou are treating this like poor internet users are a race. Shut up and get better internet. If you can't, don't play online. If you can muster up the money to get a console, a tv to play it on, and pay the subscription fee for online services, you can get a decent ISP.
-
So.... Bungie should cater to the poor connection crowd? I thought they already did that, and THAT was the problem...
-
I want you gamers with shabby Internet to play each other, it isn't my fault you have poor internet for whatever the reason. Why should I have to suffer? I shouldn't and thanks to bungie I won't
-
Having shitty internet is like sitting next to someone in a movie theatre who is texting during the feature. They are ruining the experience for everyone around them. I'm sorry it's out of your control to get good internet. You don't belong here, period.
-
Why should everyone else's experience be ruined because a select percentage of the player base is cheating the game or to broke or cheap to afford decent Internet. Stop crying you broke ass baby.
-
Then stay out of Crucible. If you KNOW you have bad connection and Ping, STAY AWAY!
-
I have good internet but I do agree with this post. No matter how it affects others the people that pay money for your game bungie should get to experience it to their maximum potential. This seems to me very obviously discrimination and you can't do that shit to your player base. This is gonna be a major issue for the community once it kicks off and I really think once the gaming media get their teeth into this bungie will get crucified.
-
Paul isn't gonna tell me shit
-
5 AntwortenI've got an idea Bungie! How bout you get some -blam!-ING DEDICATED SERVERS FOR A GAME THAT HAS BEEN OUT FOR 2 AND A HALF YEARS!
-
15 AntwortenFastest connection possible in town, set to prioritize my console, yet still red bar. One game should not require 2 mb/s+ of Internet for a decent connection. They state 1 mb/s max is needed, but I heavily doubt that they require just that given the frequency that I redbar with a 5 mb down, 1 mb up stable connection on my console alone.
-
Agreed. I live in a rural area and I have the absolute fastest internet possible, only 1 company is able to provide us with internet access(it's not satellite internet), it's terrible. 3mbps. People say "get better internet" I simply can't, it's not possible. The only way I could get better internet is to move, which I'm not going to do.
-
10 AntwortenAll you need is like 30 Mb/Ps Down. If you can't afford that, you should be working, getting an education, or looking for either; not playing video games.
-
3 AntwortenYour shit connection ruins the game for everyone else. Get better internet.
-
I find this could end up being a major problem for us in Australia. We already get thrown into matches we shouldn't get connected to, this is just going to male it more annoying and less attractive to even bother playing anymore
-
As someone who has struggled with internet problems I think it's a good step, poor connection shouldn't be a reward, this is a good thing, even if it means no damage when I have poor internet, it's good
-
I think it's fine, even if it does affect me at any point. They shouldn't have to cater to those with poor internet connections. It's honestly really stupid to, the game just wont function properly so there's no reason to really try.
-
I have 5-12 Mbps of connection and almost got kicked of the raid fireteam once. The teleporting ogres, one guy said that it's my fault that they're teleporting and almost kicked me even though I got a yellow bar and there's one guy with a red bar. The guy that said I'm lagging went AFK and left the fireteam for a little while, so one guy invited his friend to join the fireteam and we finished the oryx challenge mode without teleporting ogres and without lag. That's very satisfying tbh
-
Thank god. Don't care about your shitty Internet. Sorry.
-
1 Antwortenmy Internet is the best that is offered in my area. it is fiber optic. 150mbs down 100mbs up. it doesn't lag often in any online game except destiny. so I think the real problem is on destiny's side.
-
3 AntwortenIsn't a high speed internet connection part of the minimum requirements to play Destiny? If you don't have that, even if it's not something you have any control over, then you can't play. Seems fairly straightforward. Maybe all of this confusion is due to the somewhat nebulous definition of what "High Speed" actually means. In one region, 2Mbps is labeled High Speed but in another region high speed doesn't start until at least 100Mbps? (Exaggerating of course).. Just thinking out loud since I'm on lunch.

Sell this game. Offline games are much better.
